Truth to tell, cars are very convenient in hot climates such as the Philippines. If I didn't drive a car I would have to bring a backpack with extra clothes everywhere I go especially during summer AND the rainy season (which is like 3/4 of the year).

I lived without a car in Houston for the first two and half years I was here. It wasn't easy in the summertime. Unless a friend was driving, I mostly just went to work and came home.

I remember how excited I was when I first got my license, thinking I loved driving. Then I got stuck on Highway 59 in 100+ degree weather for an hour and realized how crappy it really is.

Yeah, Houston traffic can make one dislike driving pretty quickly. That and the whole "West Loop North, Southbound" thing.

Anyway, my job du jour's commute is simple and nice. But of course that job ends this Friday and I start a new one next week in a different part of town.

It was very nice. We met and had a nice dinner. I have a really busy week, so this is probably the only chance we'll get to see each other this round.

Since I have met Stalgie on two occasions, he is now tied with Quis for the Legion Worlder I have met in person the most times. Technically, I have met Ex twice as well, but I don't remember our first meeting.
I met Quis (and Ex) the first time at SDCC in '08, along with a boatload of other folks. I saw Quis when I was in Boston in '09. I met Beagz in person when he visited in '10. I met Ex (that I remember) when he did his tour of North America in '13.

It would be really grand if we could arrange a big meet-up again some day. This is such an awesome group!
I'd certainly love to meet Ibby and Cleome in person. I'd also really like to meet Lash, Lardy, Tracker, Mattropolis, Fanfie, and Pov, as well as seeing a bunch of others again.

Well, the Louisiana swamps could work if you're already acclimated to tons of humidity. Sure, there'd be monsters and other weirdness, but the food and music would be hard to beat.
