Having lived in Houston for so long, I've learned to speak and understand Spanish pretty well, though I am by no means fluent.

I've picked up some Mandarin and Hokkien that way too, but I am also not fluent.
My Mandarin is better than my Hokkien though, unlike the typical ethnic Chinese living in the Philippines.

My roommate is Chinese and his parents speak almost exclusively Cantonese at home. At the same time, Mandarin seems to be the more "mainstream" form of Chinese spoken and Cantonese seems to be shrinking in usage across the world.

Mandarin is the official language across China, Hong Kong, Macau and (I believe) even Taiwan. If you have to choose one Chinese language to learn, I highly recommend it be Mandarin.

Cantonese speakers are almost exclusively located within the Guangzhou province in south China.

Individual member churches of the Anglican Communion are often referred to as provinces. Confusingly, within many of the larger bodies, groupings of dioceses are also called provinces. The Episcopal Church in the USA has nine such provinces, one of which is almost completely composed of dioceses outside the United States.

Many of the people who live and work in the capital here actually hail from the outlying provinces.

The top of a column, be it Doric, Ionian, or Corinthian, is called a capital.

Blaze was lucky enough to visit Corinth last year. This year he might go to Spain.

Contrary to My Fair Lady, the mountains in Spain get the most rain, so it does not stay mainly in the plain.

Thanks, Rocky. I know almost nobody who is interested in UNESCO World Heritage sites beyond them being tourist spots. I am fascinated by their historical, cultural or natural significance though.

Yes, although I think your use of them slowed down the "Name Three" game a bit. Which reminds me, I haven't looked at that one in a while.

Oh Alhambra is near the top of my list Peebz! Yes, although I think your use of them slowed down the "Name Three" game a bit. Which reminds me, I haven't looked at that one in a while. The game would have slowed down anyway without you and Quis posting
