Wallace Wood, known to his friends as "Woody", was one of the greatest comic book artists who ever lived. In the 50s he worked on all the different EC comics, but shone brightest on the science-fiction stories; in the 60s he worked for Marvel on Daredevil and created THUNDER Agents for another publisher whose name escapes me (Tower?); in the 70s, he inked Keith Giffen's pencils on JSA and briefly did the full art before Joe Staton & Bob Layton (the latter a former Woody protégé) took over.
Woody died in 1981, but his artistic legacy lives on.

Wally Wood is also known for trying to continually draw Power Girl's breasts bigger and bigger until DC editors told him to stop.

When I was kid I didn't like Woody Guthrie's song "This Land is Your Land" because (to a six-year-old geography nerd) it implied that New England, which is not between California and the "New York Island", is not part of the United States.

I used to collect TV Guide magazines from all over the US and at least one from Canada. I think most of them ended up recycled.

Captain Planet was a lot of fun, though the cartoons were always a little vague on exactly what the good captain was supposed to be and the actual extent of his powers.

I quite liked Captain Caveman, though only watched his adventures in the past. I recall that he was revived in present day with the Teen Angels.

The Teen Angels episodes were made first. Later they used him in the Flintstones franchise. Captain Caveman was one of those characters I liked as a kid, but not so much as an adult.

I think I can kind of understand why. Even though he was technically a "grown-up", he was basically an overactive kid.

The overgrown hair didn't help any.
I didn't know he debuted in the modern day first, thanks Rocky.

Can you imagine how intense his B.O. must have been? How did the Teen Angels stand it?

In 1982, HBO aired a videotaped performance of the then-current Broadway revival of Camelot. As with everything HBO aired in the early '80s, it was run and rerun many, many times. A little boy who lived across the street from us saw it and sang the title song: "Cantaloupe! Cantaloupe!"
