I liked Fahrenheit 451 a lot, though if we're talking dystopian novels, I liked 1984 and Brave New World better.

So do I, but those were all very good novels.

I've been inspired by this thread to read a biography of Ray Bradbury published about six years before his passing. Will review it in the So What Are You Reading thread, of course.

If not for that thread, I'd never have read Grant Morrison's mostly excellent autobiography/history of superhero comics "Supergods".

The home brand soda in the Winn-Dixie grocery store chain is called Chek. The Winn-Dixie logo includes a checkmark.

Winnie the Pooh was one of the first cartoons I ever watched as a kid.

The Winnie the Pooh cartoons have a Transformers connection:
Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) voiced Eeyore for a long time (and may, possibly, still voice him, I'm not sure).
The late Ken Sansom (Hound) voiced Rabbit from the late 70s until the late 2000s.

Rabbit and Eeyore were two of my favorites. Tigger, on the other hand, annoyed me.

My favorite was Pooh himself.
(And before anyone says anything, no, it has nothing to do with my inclination towards poo jokes.)

I refer to the E.H. Shepard drawings from the original A.A. Milne books about Pooh and his friends as "True Pooh". The Disney version is Sham Pooh.

Is that why Pooh is usually so sticky with honey in the cartoons?

Until the whole Disney Princess thing took off, Pooh was Disney's most lucrative property.

Pooh Bear has a kind of androgynous, pre-sexual appeal. A former female acquaintance of mine said that she related to Pooh, even though she's a girl. That's kind of the same way I feel about Snoopy.

There's something about these cartoon characters, isn't there? For me it was Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Chipettes during their race around the world in the Chipmunk adventure.

She is such a sympathetic character. I almost cried when I read about her upbringing.
