It's the first time I've ever heard of him.

I'm surprised they didn't use Diana the Huntress as a Wonder Woman equivalent.

This is one issue I'd be dying to see extras like script and storyboard for. It was just so complex and dense. The structure and detail was insane. You could write pages and pages just looking at the murder investigation spread or even the spiral stair case page where the panel flow reverses seamlessly.

Say what you will about Watchmen and DC's craven attempts to cash in on it with the drek last year, but this is a far better companion piece that acts as a homage, deconstruction, love letter and critique all at the same time.

Oh by the way, DC's interactive guide to the Multiverse confirmed Earth-41 (home to Spore and Dino-Cop) as their version of Image Comics.

Morrison has flatteringly called the Youngblood expies "The Nimrod Squad."

Two new Earths confirmed.

It looks like Earth-1 actually is the home of the hardcover Earth-One graphic novels, and we've gotten a look at that world's Wonder Woman.

And it seems the Thrillkiller Elseworlds is part of the 52, which is another carryover from the worlds shown in Countdown. However, this world also appears to be inhabited by the space heroes seen in Howard Chaykin's "Twilight" series with the militaristic Tommy Tomorrow. So, there's a chance that this world is kind of based on Howard Chaykin's writing

This is all coming from the Channel 52 segment in this week's DC Comics. It's showcasing the Multiversity guidebook coming out next month.

Also, the Marvel Family on Earth-5 have got Uncle Marvel and the Lieutenant Marvels.

Not really a surprise about Earth-1, though what I wouldn't give to have and Earth-1 based on pre-Crisis Earth-1.

I thought I read somewhere that the Superman Earth-One and Batman Earth-One books didn't take place in the same world.

AAAAAHHHHH!!!! OPTIMAN AND IRON KNIGHT!!!! I'VE WAITED TWO YEARS FOR THEM!!!

Okay not shouting anymore.

So it looks like Optiman was another one of the alternate Supermen we saw in Final Crisis #7.

And looking at them, I'm starting to realize Earth-36 might be based on Big Bang Comics.

Thunderworld really only needs a one word review: SHAZAM!

Honestly, Johns and the DC brass need to read this book, then look at their current version of the property and hang their heads in shame.

Two more Earths confirmed! Earths 34 and 35 seem to be based off Astro City and Rob Liefeld's Supreme and Glory comics!

Pax Americana was *amazing!* Of all the post-Watchmen books that have come out in the past several decades, this was not only the best book to come out of it, but it (almost) matched it in terms of complexity, both visual and narratively, as well as responding to "Watchmen" directly. Mind. Blown. Probably the best thing I've read all year.

Someone posted a two word review that I felt got the point across: BUY THIS

Also, I really can't help but feel the fight between Georgia Sivana and Mary Marvel was a crack at Mary's "dark" phase. If you edit Georgia's costume and changed her hair color she pretty much is Mary.

DC Nation revealed Earth-32 is still home to the Elseworlds book where Bruce Wane became Green Lantern.

But this is now a world home to other amalgamated heroes. Wonderhawk, Aquaflash, Super-Martian...

Thunderworld, the Captain Marvel story, is hands down my favorite so far. Morrison backs it with charm, humor, action, sly nods to comic history, tongue in cheek hilarity and just a plain awesome story.

I wish it was an ongoing series with this creative team.

Loved it.

http://www.newsarama.com/23307-seven-dc-earths-profiled-in-the-multiversity-guidebook-1-preview.html

According to this preview, Earth-9 is still the Tangent Universe, on Earth-19 we have the Amazonia Wonder Woman, and the Time Trapper is involved in Earth-18.

Multiversity is sickening! Each month it is one of the best comics I get ... Up there with Saga ... yes I went there. And I thought I would never forgive Morrison for turning Professor X into a gun toting murderer!

OK - I want some real talk from you Multiversity-reading peeps!

I generally really enjoy Morrison's work on these types of things (Seven Soldiers love ) but my contempt for everything DCFU prevents me from even considering anything by that company since FU-Day.

But all these great reviews have got me very interested in Multiversity!

So my question is - what (if any) references (even completely minor ones) to the DCFU are there in this series? Is it possible to read it and remain completely oblivious to the fact that there even is a DCFU? I want to read it but I worry that even the slightest reference (like one panel showing Superman's ugly costume) would snap me right out of it.

Blacula, so far, I don't think there's been a single reference! Or at least, none I can remember.

The only tangential reference is that the main character in #1 is the President Calvin Ellis Superman from Earth-23 who was last seen in Morrison's New52 Action Comics run.

The first one is more typical ... the sky is falling crisis in the multiverse but each and every one after has been a stand alone one shot of a parallel universe, from golden age type stories to a captain marvel archie type story to a dystopian vapid pop future story line. There is a teeny tiny reference foil that has been in each issue but its not a big deal.

I really liked the Captain Marvel "archie" issue and that is not my thing usually.

There may be about one abstract panel of images from the multiverse including the new 52 but its not anywhere near substantial or relevant to the story. so unless a random image of a 52 character will send you into a rage (and it is quite possible) it shouldn't be a problem or even obvious.

In fact, mostly it is pre 52 inspired. If I would make a claim.

The new artists each issue have all been excellent as well.

The only issue I wasn't hot over was the Watchmen type issue with the Charlton characters ... I thought it was too much like the Watchmen and I had to read it a few times and I'm still not sure what or why things happened. But on the plus side ... It was actually interesting enough to read three times! laugh

TRUE! double nod

I just had a light bulb.

If Multiversity runs 52 issues ... and Morrison has 52 better cards up his sleeve by himself than the rest of DC52 corp ... that would be truly awesome/sad.

(although I bet he's got help)
