About time we got the Legion in most of the book. My favorite issue of this storyline.

I, for one, am always glad to see an appearance by Colossal Lad! Personally, I was somewhat disappointed at no Bouncing Girl.

They could always recruit one from Bummb'l where all natives have the same ability as Bouncing Boy. Maybe a female student at the Legion Academy with a crush on her instructor.

I had to control myself from screaming out loud when I saw CANDI and DANIELLE.

On Page 3, any idea who that is under Cosmic Boy? My guess is that, just as the miscolored reboot Element Lad (aka Alchemist) this is a miscolored Invisible Kid. However, as we got multiple versions of the same characters last issue, I'm not certain if what may be a headband is actually headgear, and we're looking at another Gim. Maybe THAT'S Colossal Lad?

On Page 10, who is that behind Computo and Kid Quantum?
Interestingly, this page gives us a mix of reboot and Legionnaires teams. After all (correct me if I'm wrong), M-E Lad, Dragonmage and Computo were never members of the reboot team. Tenzil and Xao appeared, but never used these costumes.
Interestingly, the Legionnaires team was between the original and reboot teams, which raises the question of whether the TMK era existed, since the retroboot characters seems to have skipped that era.

I think I answered my own question. The Unknown Boy on Page 10 must be a relative of Konk!, from the Uncanny Amazers. On Page 11 his body appears at the far right of the top panel, while his head (notice no legs) appears between Garth and Tenzil.

And so good to see so SO many others again, after SO long.
And yes, Zoe returns, and I had to dust off and remove the mothballs from my account. ;D

Some incoherences between the scriptwriter and the artist...
If in the Justice League United we see flying in the space : Dream Girl , Ultra Boy, Blok, Star Boy, Cosmic Boy, Lightining Lass and inside with the 2 teams . Bouncing Boy.
Why in the Issue 8, all these legionnaires are in the 31st century again.
And if Nura has just said that Shadow Lass continues in medical stasis in Mars recovering, for that we see her flying close to the group.
Mention separates both versions of Tyroc and Chamelon Girl coexisting...
On the other hand it is pleasing to see again to XS, Kinetix, Ferro, Monstress, Magno, Computo, Andromeda, Dragonmage and Radion? (the guy in orange and Black costume).
I think is the first time that Andrómeda and Supergirl are in the same issue...

It was actually the first thing I saw on Facebook when I woke up, so this promises to be a good day It's good to see all those long-lost Legionnaires again, if only for a bit. Kinetix, XS, Monstress, Kid Quantum II, Magno, Gates, Andromeda, Computo, Dragonmage, Ferro...

While I see a number of us are excited to see so many Legionnaires in this issue, I must wonder what the fans of Justice League United must be thinking to have the Legion take over their book, especially with it being such a new book.
Is some ways this is similar to when Superboy, the Teen Titans and the Ravengers took over Legion Lost. I know at the time I hated the title being over run by so many guest stars. I just wanted DeFalco to have the time to tell Legion stories. I'd think JLU fans must be thinking the same thing about Lemire now!

Interesting and empathetic insight, LW. Having not read the issue yet, I can't comment, although hopefully there is a good balance between the screen time of the two teams.

hopefully there is a good balance between the screen time of the two teams. Nope. The Legion has the whole first half of the story. The JLU team appears on only one-third of the pages. And by team, I mean Martian Manhunter and Supergirl. The other JLUers are only cameos.

It just occurred to me why JLU #8 is SO bad. It's a filler issue. Note that this issue says it is {art 4 of 6 in the "Infinitus Saga." Previous issues, however, have listed the story as a five-part event.
My guess is that Jeff Lemire plotted out the story before the directive came down to wrap everything up for the "Convergence" cover-our-asses-while-we-disembark-so-sunny-Cali linewide mega event. Rather than write one stand-alone issue for #10, because what comic book writer today is capable of doing that, Lemire simply padded out the current saga with one plotless filler issue.
Aside from no plot to speak of, this theory also answers why there are so few words and panels in this comics, that that I was able to read the entire thing in five minutes, 15 seconds. It was a last-minute rush job.

Not only that, Portfolio Boy, but 6 issue arcs make better trades. I'm sure this will come out as a trade. Everything does anymore.
It amazed me how quick of a read this issue was when you hold the actual comic in your hand. It felt like there was a little more meat on the bones when I first read it on my iPad.
You'd have thought that if this was a filler issue, then they could have drawn a few more JLU characters to keep its readers happier instead of just focusing on the Legion.

I'm in a quandry here. I haven't been impressed by either team, and I haven't liked what Lemire has done here, but I liked him on other books.
It took me a book or two to realize that this was supposed to be like the old JSA/JLA teamups, but it just doesn't feel like it.
Maybe I'm just old now, but my legion seems a long time gone.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
Something pithy!

Well with the news of June's company wide re-launch of titles, and Lemire's departure from JLU, it's no wonder he stretched the Legion arc out from 5 issues to 6. But that still doesn't excuse him for not telling more story in this issue. Instead of padding it with more artwork, Lemire could have used the extra issue for character development or something...

Legionaires appearing in this issue
Andromeda Blok Bouncing Boy Brainiac 5 Colossal Boy Computo Dawnstar Dragonmage Dream Girl Duplicate Girl Element Lad Ferro Invisible Kid (Foccart) Kid Quantum (Jazmin) Lightning Lad Lightning Lass Matter-Eater Lad Mon-El Monstress Polar Boy Saturn Girl Shrinking Violet Star Boy Timber Wolf Ultra Boy White Witch XS
