I'll take your word for it and will remain in blissful ignorance.

One last try - here's a video of someone fighting one of Suikoden 2's toughest enemies.

Screwy Squirrel was a short-lived Golden Age cartoon character created by the great Tex Avery.

With a title that was sure to bring in the comic code authority

I really liked Slappy Squirrel on Animaniacs.

I don't know that you can really compare them. The old Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical shorts were the best series of animated cartoons ever. Animaniacs was a descendant of those series, but made for television decades later.

Perhaps we can't compare them objectively, but then personal preferences are rarely objective.

I went to a party tonight where we watched some really bad old Christmas-themed cartoons, many of which seem kind of creepy to modern sensibilities.

Cartoons sure have evolved over the years. There was a time when almost everything on Cartoon Network was totally brainless.

Heh, I personally think modern cartoons are WAY more brainless than anything from my youth.

Cartoons sort of go in cycles. There will be good stuff then not-so-good. It is hard to be objective because a lot of one's preferences are colored with nostalgia.

There are a lot of great modern cartoons too, such as Avatar: Legend of Aang, its successor Avatar: Legend of Korra, Young Justice, the Justice League toons, the Legion toon...

True enough. The Super Friends will always have a special place in my heart, partly because it was what introduced me to DC Comics.

Some old cartoons stand the test of time. Captain Planet is an old fave.

There's a great Captain Planet parody on YouTube with Don Cheadle in the title role.

It's very funny. Captain Planet goes insane and starts turning people into trees. Transmutation powers gone wild!

Captain Planet, meet the Progenitor. He did it first and did it appear.
RIP Element Lad, Monstress, Live Wire (though he got better!)

I never could get used to the character I always knew as Lightning Lad being called Live Wire.

I never cared for the SW6/reboot codenames. I've always had a fondness for the lad, lass, boy, and girl names.

While I have a personal preference for the old ones, I do still quite enjoy some of the post boot names. So, both for me.
