The Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog was a Top 40 hit in 1979.

I love just about everything about the first Muppet movie. The Muppets did lose a lot of their edge in the transition from the small screen to the big screen, but I still think the first movie is prime entertainment.

Miss Piggy, Kermit and Gonzo are treats. The Muppets is unique for me in that I don't find even one character remotely annoying. Unlike with Sesame Street, when I would cringe whenever Elmo showed up.

Pre-Elmo Sesame Street was awesome! Big Bird, Oscar, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Grover, Mr. Snuffleupagus and the others were great. Then they brought in the annoying little red monster. mad

Death to Elmo! I'm glad we share the same sentiments, Rocky. I also like all the other characters, but Elmo's terrible grammar and annoying personality really turned me off.

Elmo really didn't exist as such (the Muppet who would become Elmo was around, but he wasn't portrayed as Elmo) for the first 15 years of the show's existence. He pretty much took over the show after that, even though there were many established, more interesting, less annoying characters on the show. The Sesame Street I remember fondly was pre-Elmo.

Below is the closing credit crawl for SS from about 1974. Notice something? No Elmo!

That was my favorite version of their credits. I think it was abandoned because some chatacters got phased out and others were added. For example, this was drawn before the Count or Mr. Snufflupagus were introduced.

It's a show I have to confess never having seen. I've seen the odd clip here and there, so I know who some of them are, but that's about it.

Being physically old isn't a problem with remote controls. The lack of mental age is an issue, as I can't find it... Nurse! Nurse!

Beany and Cecil was a 60s TV cartoon most notable for having been created by Bob Clampett, the director of such classic Golden Age Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons as "Porky in Wackyland" and "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery".
