I think the value of names such as "Submariner" is that they teach kids to look up words or ask what they mean. Superhero names taught me words such as Pariah and Quark. Umbra, on the other hand, I learned from reading science books first; Gossamer from reading children's story books, and Apparition from reading books about ghosts. It was also the villain in the '80s cartoon Mighty Orbots. Two more reasons I prefer the name Shadow Lass. First the Crisis changed their reality and origin and they got cancelled. Then they are all either forgotten are badly mistreated. Then they finally come into their own in the JSA books.
