I would imagine that Great Danes do not feel accurately represented by Scooby-Doo.

It doesn't help that the extremely tasty and courage-inducing Scooby snacks are fictional.

I thought Scooby Snacks were coded marijuana brownies.

I never understood the appeal of Scooby-Doo. The Original cartoons were cute and the "New Scooby-Doo Movies" were fun, but after that, it ran out of steam but wouldn't stop till it ran headlong into Scrappy.

I liked the cartoons back then but they certainly do not hold up upon watching again

I liked the creepy mystery part of Scooby Doo, such as it was.

A thinly veiled version of the gang were involved in trying to retrieve the body of Elvis from the radioactive wastelands of East Meg in a Red Razors story, drawn by Steve Yeowell and set in the Judge Dredd universe.

Scooby and the gang were the stars of several cartoon movies as well. Those are a lot better than the shorter cartoons.

That sounds like a cool story. Who wrote it?

Would you believe a certain Mr Millar wrote it? No, I didn't remember until I checked. Yeowell's art was definitely the draw. What I did remember was that a version of Adamski was running East Meg. I think there was an idea in it, but I have doubts if anything was really done with it. Here's the cover...

Huh. Well, if Millar wrote it, then at least I won't have to bother tracking down the story, and I can do something more worth my while. lol

It has nice pics. Yeowell also drew 67 seconds which is ...written by James Robinson... oh heck...

LOL

rotflmao

Robinson did write The Golden Age, which I consider a masterpiece, and I think Starman had a lot of good moments, even though I also think it's been overpraised.

It was a good story which "updated" the Golden Age with some modern issues.

Yes, and back then Robinson's writing was more balanced -- light and shade, nostalgia and reality, leaving things to the imagination and showing things starkly...

Golden Age was a great story. Thinking about it makes me think of how much I miss the JSA.

I think Smith's art brings a fair bit to that really nostalgic feel of the Golden Age. Not to mention the strong and distinctive characterisations and action scenes. I did like Robinson's writing in it, too. The dialogue is quite minimal at time letting Smith draw us into the plot, without bogging us down with needless descriptions.

I think I bought Starman more for Harris' art than the writing after the first story arc or two.

I quite like Mikaal Tomas. His sexuality was refreshing to read as he did not subscribe to our Earth standards.

I adore Mikaal. And I think Peter Snejbjerg (sp?) was a more than adequate replacement for Harris.

Oh, I totally agree, Ibby. Starman 50, the issue where they appeared, was one of my favorite issues of the whole run!
