I think this was in one of He Who Wanders Top 40s, but it's the song I've played most in the last couple of weeks. Really good video too, particularly for its time.

1997's "Congo", from the final Genesis studio album, "Calling All Stations", which I listened to recently for the first time. What a hook! What a melody! What a shame most people in 1997 were listening to mall-ternative rock instead!

^^A massively underrated album.

My favorite songs from it are the beautifully sad Uncertain Weather

and the quirky but catchy b-side Banjo Man:

Agreed, and one of the main reasons I listened to it was because you had said good things about it in another thread a couple years ago. So, belated thanks.

OKAY, so here's the whole story:

I ditched GLEE in Season 2 because I could no longer stretch my disbelief-suspension any further (and yes I know for musicals, this shouldn't have even been an issue... tells you how ridic GLEE was becoming).

LSS (Long Story Short): Decided to come back to GLEE this season. Glad I did, as they have delivered my CURRENT FAVORITE SONG! It's a Katy Perry song that I didn't give a crap about when she did it, but those GLEE kids WORKED THE EFF OUT OF IT, and it will probably be my favorite ballad of 2013:

High School tranny Unique especially elevates it to BIG LEAGUES status with his/her exceptional vocals, but all 4 of them are amazing together.

Moz's latest single, his first in five years, and IMO his best in ten years!

Billy Idol, in between Eyes Without a Face and White Wedding and Rebel Yell, did something weird and experimental called Cyberpunk. Here's one of my favorites from it;

Tomorrow People

And my actual favorite;

Adam in Chains

Quite possibly the least Billy-Idol-like Billy Idol song you'll ever hear.

I went crazy for this song a few years ago when I bought the Best of Altered Images CD. Lately, I've gone crazy for it all over again.

Antietam's "Turn It On Me." From 2008's wonderful double CD, Opus Mixtum.

The contrast between the trio's gentle, plaintive vocal delivery vs. the blunt melancholy of the lyrics and melody is irresistible. I think their biggest brush with fame after 30 years together was Tara Key providing music for the show The Adventure of Pete And Pete. Hey, everyone has bills to pay. But it continually bewilders me that this group never broke into the big time, even by "alternative" standards.

^I listened to that website's excerpt of the song. I liked it. Thanks, Cleome. Too bad it's not on YouTube.

I don't remember much about Pete & Pete, but I seem to recall it was a cut above most kids shows. Didn't it have people like Michael Stipe and Iggy Pop as guest stars?

I've recently re-discovered One Republic. Two of their songs are on my all-time faves list:

Love Runs Out

and

Feel Again

I was listening to Parov Stelar's That Swing last week. Excellent stuff, and good shout on Booty Swing Wang Lung.
