The character I've identified as Crimson Avenger is actually a bit hard to exactly identify and might in fact be Manhunter. So I've included both options in that spot.

I think TK might have read this issue.  Actually, I'm not sure I have. I did get a load of early '80s comics and was reading up on the Implosion issues. So there were always "appearing in Adventure this month..." ads/links. I'm surprised Orchid wasn't on the front. She was my first choice outside of the Legion.

I remember Crimson Avenger appearing alongside his SSoV comrades in a back-up story somewhere around the 430s, but that probably isn't enough to qualify for cover status so it probably is Manhunter. His proximity to the recently added #7 on the list is probably what made me think of Crimson Avenger.

Once I came up with Woozy, I was pretty sure it had to be him. I briefly thought of Animal Man earlier, but dismissed him as not appearing in Adventure, but apparently some of early solo adventures were in fact reprinted in Adventure, so I guess that's the basis of it. It was really the fact that he fit the clues so well that I went with him. I figured the other was a JSAer, and was actually a bit surprised that Dr. Mid-Nite hadn't been guessed already. Though, in retropect, Wildcat seems like he would've been a better guess, since he was pretty prominent in the JSA's run in Adventure. So I got lucky on that one.

Yeah, Woozy Winks and Animal Man fit some of Blacula's clues to a T. And Dr. Mid-Nite was a great guess too, fitting the clues just as well as Wildcat did.

With the resignation of Tigra and the imprisonment of Yellowjacket, the Avengers found themselves down to four members in the summer of 1982, and so it was time for a recruitment drive!
The cover of Avengers #221 featured headshots of fifteen Marvel characters, asking "Who will be the newest members of the Avengers?" and advising the reader to "Pick Two!" Not all of those characters appeared in the issue, but one additional character who does not appear on the cover was offered membership within the story.
Name the sixteen characters appearing as potential members either on the cover or in the story.
