You have no idea how much I want to buy an ongoing about President Superman, because he pretty much IS the Superman we've been lacking for years.

As long as Scott Lobdell's not the writer.

...

BTW, someone pointed out that the Gentry seem to be metaphors for how DC, Marvel, and pretty much how all mainstream comic companies treat anyone, creator or character, who's not white or male.

It's ultimately going to come down to how it all ends. His X-Men run was great, but the ending was so confusing because of all the Xorneto stuff.

Yeah, seriously. Give us an Earth-23 title and I'd read the heck out of it, as long as it keep the tone that Morrison set in this and Action #9.

Hell, I would buy ongoings of any of the characters we've seen so far. Aquawoman, Justice 9, the JLA of Earth-23, Thunderer...

I'm really hoping we get a glance at that one Superman counterpart mentioned in Action #9, Optiman, even though he's dead.

I'm still really hoping Earth-22 is still the Kingdom Come universe.

Beyond that, I'm glad there are several Earths Morrison left for other writers. I'm trying to come up with something for an Earth where the supporting cast characters are the heroes, like that Krypton Girl story and the GL story that showed Alex DeWitt getting the ring instead of Kyle.

Hey, if Superman came back after being killed by Doomsday, then surely Optiman can come back after being killed by Superdoomsday!

I'm also looking forward to seeing how many different ersatz Batmen there are going to be. Morrison's trying to see how far you can stretch the concept before it stops being Batman.

This is the line-up I thought of so far for an Earth-25 Justice League.

Raven Woman (Julie Madison), Krypton Woman (Lois Lane/Lannelle), Wonder Woman (Diana/Etta Candy), Jackie Quick (Linda Park), Torchbearer (Alex DeWitt), Mera, Martian Manhunter (M'gann M'orzz), Commander Marvel (Darla Dudley), Queen Archer (Cissie Jones), White Eagle (Sin), Osprey (Charlie Parker), and Sindella.

Read it today. Ditto what WangLung said.

I liked Captain Carrot too. And the Red Racer dude--has he shown up before this? He must be a member of Legion World. wink

Red Racer was mentioned in Action Comics #9 as being from the same Earth Optiman is from, Earth-36.

Well, I didn't understand all of it, but it definitely made more sense than Final Crisis.

And I'm relieved pleased with the way Captain Carrot was presented in this issue. After some of the hints and comments I read online, I was worried that another infrequently-seen character that I retain fond memories of was going to be trashed for cheap shock value. Hasn't happened yet, let's keep our fingers crossed.
Interesting that in this issue he was drawn to look more like a real rabbit and less like a cartoon character. I wonder if they plan on having him look that way in his home universe, or did he transform into something more "realistic" when he travelled to the Orrery.

I expect I will buy the rest of Multiversity.

Grant Morrison writes Captain Carrot vs. the Hulk. What more would you want from a comic?

I noted the use of "American Crusader" as the name for the "Earth-8" Captain America analogue. It would be interesting if we got a world that was a Nedor Comics/Terra Obscura analogue!

It's better than Americommando. Especially since that name's had a very poor track record.

Hey, we just know the LW version of you. It took a Multiversal event to catch a glimpse of you on Earth-36! wink

If you guys are curious, me and Hank are registered at Wheeler's. It's like Macy's, but on our Earth it's called Wheeler's.

I liked it, it was fun, but I don't know if it was $5.00 worth of fun. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but a lot of the concept and plot has already been leaked out over the years leading up to this that there wasn't a lot of impact for some things ("Wow, they're all comic-book characters on each other's worlds!")

A lot of it hinges on Morrison's other DCU work (Final Crisis and Action specifically), which will no doubt irritate some, but for me that was a plus, and despite the strange art choice for Captain Carrot, he was written reasonably well and with respect, so that's a big plus too.

I'm more anxious to get to the craziness of the alternate Earth issues, now that the introduction's out of the way.

Hey guys! Check out the variant covers for the Society of Super-Heroes!

http://www.hitfix.com/news/exclusiv...r-pulp-action-the-society-of-superheroes

We got the Batman-esque version of John Constantine called Hellblazer from that one Doom Patrol story Morrison wrote that was like Kirby/Lee esque, and it looks the 90s version of Fate exists on some Earth somewhere.

Oh crap that means the possibility of the Mystic Youth being in canon again!

Xorneto wasn't even bad as some of the retcons like Cassandra Nova.

It's a bit of a stretch, given that every time you turn around there's another Lovecraftian elder god of some sort lurching along ready to destroy a comic book universe, I'm sure you can let Morrison create more than one. I'm more interested to see if he does something unexpected with the trope.

I have to say I was underwhelmed. So much feels like the things Morrison has done before (and more than once already). And in terms of the various characters, I can't say any one of them has given me a reason to be excited so far.

But a lot could be my just wanting the set up out of the way. I'm hoping the individual stories are a stronger effort.

Can't read anything here yet as I haven't purchased it yet, but I did want to say that MULTIVERSITY is the first time in a very long while I've been good, old-fashioned EXCITED about the release of a comic book!
