"On Armistice Day, the Philharmonic will play But the songs they'll be singin' will be sad Shufflin' brown tunes Hangin' around ah-ooo
No long, drawn blown-out excuses were made When I needed a friend, she was there Just like an easy chair
Armistice Day, Armistice Day, That's all I really wanted to say
Oh, I'm weary from waiting, in Washington, D.C. I'm comin' to see my Congressman, but he's avoiding me Weary from waiting, down in Washington, D.C.
Congresswoman, won't you tell that Congressman I've waited such a long time, I've about waited all I can
Congresswoman, won't you tell that Congressman...?"
-- Paul Simon, "Armistice Day"

You made everything so spic and span You cleaned everything a cleaning lady can But I can't throw away your plastic cart
......because you missed a spot
In my heart (heart heart heart-heart-heart heart heart heart-heart-heart heart heart heart-heart-heart)
In my heart

I want to break free I want to break free I want to break free from your lies You're so self satisfied I don't need you I've got to break free God knows, God knows I want to break free
I've fallen in love I've fallen in love for the first time And this time I know it's for real I've fallen in love yeah God knows God knows I've fallen in love
It's strange but it's true I can't get over the way you love me like you do But I have to be sure When I walk out that door Oh how I want to be free baby Oh how I want to be free Oh how I want to break free
But life still goes on I can't get used to living without living without Living without you by my side I don't want to live alone hey God knows got to make it on my own So baby can't you see I've got to break free
I've got to break free I want to break free yeah
I want, I want, I want, I want to break free

I threw a wish in the well, Don't ask me, I'll never tell I looked to you as it fell, And now you're in my way
I'd trade my soul for a wish, Pennies and dimes for a kiss I wasn't looking for this, But now you're in my way
Your stare was holdin', Ripped jeans, skin was showin' Hot night, wind was blowin' Where you think you're going, baby?
Hey, I just met you, And this is crazy, But here's my number, So call me, maybe?
It's hard to look right, At you baby, But here's my number, So call me, maybe?
Hey, I just met you, And this is crazy, But here's my number, So call me, maybe?
And all the other boys, Try to chase me, But here's my number, So call me, maybe?
You took your time with the call, I took no time with the fall You gave me nothing at all, But still, you're in my way
I beg, and borrow and steal Have foresight and it's real I didn't know I would feel it, But it's in my way
Your stare was holdin', Ripped jeans, skin was showin' Hot night, wind was blowin' Where you think you're going, baby?

In this world Divided by fear We've got to believe that There's a reason we're here Yeah, there's a reason we're here...
Oh, yeah...
Cause these are the days worth living These are the years we're given And these are the moments These are the times Let's make the best out of our lives...

Oh the weather outside is frightful But the fire is so delightful And since we've no place to go Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping And I've bought some corn for popping The lights are turned way down low Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight How I'll hate going out in the storm! But if you'll really hold me tight All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying And, my dear, we're still goodbying But as long as you love me so Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow
Faithfull

And I keep hoping You are the same as me And I write you letters And go to your house for tea We are who we are What do the others know? But poetry Is not for me So show me the way to go home

From Savage Garden's Hold Me. Those guys sure wrote awesome lyrics!
Hey Hey More than angry words I hate this silence It's getting so loud Well I wanna scream But bitterness has silenced these emotions It's getting hard to breathe So tell me isn't happiness Worth more than a golden diamond ring? I'm willing to do anything To calm the storm in my heart I've never been the praying kind But lately I've been down upon my knees Not looking for a miracle Just a reason to believe

I think their version's just fine, but I prefer the Todd Rundgren/Utopia original.

That's perfectly understandable.
Your favorite Utopia song is Set Me Free, am I correct? I was listening to that just the other night.

I listened to it just now. (And you have an amazing memory!)
Very interesting video. Released in 1980, it includes footage of the Shah of Iran, the hostages in Iran, and protesters being dragged away by police . . . all of which has nothing to do with the song itself, except on the most general thematic level. Yet the video and song fit in oddly well with the present situation in Ferguson, Missouri.

Lately I'm not the only one I said, "Never trust anyone"
I won't be the one Who's going to let you down Maybe you'll get what you want this time around... The trick is to keep breathing Lash, I never knew you like Garbage! They're one of those bands that changed my life! I'm always happy to find out someone else is a fan!

It's the time of the season When love runs high In this time, give it to me easy And let me try with pleasured hands
To take you in the sun to promised lands To show you every one It's the time of the season for loving
Keep up with what I've been watching lately! "Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you."

Let me sail, let me sail, let the Orinoco flow, Let me reach, let me beach on the shores of Tripoli. Let me sail, let me sail, let me crash upon your shore, Let me reach, let me beach far beyond the Yellow Sea.

Ah, Braal Janitor posted lyrics by the Zombies, great band.
I also like their spinoff band, Argent:
Hold your head up Hold it Hold your head up Hold it Hold your head high
and
God gave rock and roll to you Gave rock and roll to me Gave rock and roll to everyone

I haven't listened to much Argent beyond their version of Time of the Season. I really should look more into their catalog.

Definitely give "Hold Your Head High" a listen. I think it's one of the greatest rock anthems of all time.

I ripped your heart out from your chest Replaced it with a grenade blast
Incinerate [4x]
Firefighters hose me down I don't care I'll burn out anyhow It's 4 alarm girl nothing to see Hear the sirens come for me You dosed my soul with gasoline You flicked a match into my brain
