thanks Peebs. that saves me having to find pics for my Atari Force review thread.
Is that Astral Mage up there? I didn't know who he was in the Nail/Another Nail.

I always did wonder where the Astral Mage originally debuted. Pretty much every other character in the Nail and Another Nail were existing heroes. ... and Comic Vine says that he appeared in regular continuity as Astralad!

I think he could use a few more powers though: Astral Projection Attractive Male Energy Manipulation Flight Reality Manpulation Super Strength Time Travel Also I read he has the power to make superboy reveal his secret identity, sounds pretty amazing ...

Could be worse, he could be one of the Xorn twins over at Marvel, whose powers are described in the form of a mad lib. Has a [celestial body or event] in his [body part] that allows him to [random superpower that must be totally unrelated to either the celestial body or the body part]. Such as, 'Has a [wormhole] in his [eyesocket] that allows him to [make plants sentient]' or 'Has a [exploding antimatter galaxy] in his [left nut] that allows him to [perfectly reproduce any sound he can imagine at any volume].'

Ah, the Wanderers, a team with two awesome and powerful ladies, and the biggest bunch of loser schmucks ever seen. "I manipulate quantum energies to fly and shoot powerful energy blasts!" "I have a blowgun." "I can read minds and project illusions with irresistible psychic powers!" "I can turn into birds, and I'm most famous for having sex with a dinosaur."

Well you did it Set ... after following that link ... Power Boy's brain broke. can't be fixed. broken. I live to please. Or possibly to induce irreversible trauma. I sometimes get those confused... Still, Psyche and Quantum Queen need to abandon those dudes and form their own super-team with other super-ladies who are far too good for the dudes they hang out with, like Lady Quark and Nightshade.

btw I always thought the LSH should draft Quantum Queen They were going to. But her initiation was to retrieve a flight ring from the Gallery of the Fallen in the Legion's future HQ. Strangely, she never came back to them...

I'm down for that! I hated the later characterization of Psyche as someone who couldn't deal with her own emotions, though. I think she should be emotionally adept even without her powers. That's Aviax, taking one for the team! Of course, nobody believed him when he said he didn't enjoy it...

I like original Nightshade who could turn into a shadow and teleport and create darkness better than the mistress of darkness and magic...myself. was she always a princess from a limbo like magic dimension? she seems a whole lot like a certain russian little sister.

Do Lord Volt and Princess Fern deserve a comeback? What if they survived instead of Lady Quark? How exactly do two energy manipulators give birth to a plant manipulator?

There are some good obscure bad guys too. There's a few you see once and never again. I thought some were good too.
Recently I really liked the designs of some of the gang the Legion met in China. I can't remember the names off hand.

Recently I really liked the designs of some of the gang the Legion met in China. I can't remember the names off hand. Their leader seemed to have a Phoenix theme, IIRC, and Dragonwing's sister was even more 'dragon-y' than she was! There were quite a few new villain characters, in that last run. I wasn't too fond of Stegus, but Immortus, Questor, Sun-Killer and Akka seemed interesting. I like the 'old classic' LSV and League of Super-Assassins and Fatal Five crews, but it's always cool to see some new faces, and not have every Legion story be a retelling of a Universo or Mordru or Fatal Five matchup.

Those Nightshade panels are from her Secret Origins issue, just before the "Nightshade Odyssey" started in Suicide Squad (where her darkness powers manifested).

Maybe Princess Fern got her powers in a different way than her parents did. Of the 3, it is Lord Volt whose powers I find least interesting. There are many other electrically-powered heroes.

Maybe they get their powers from some kind of ritual, or they get to choose their powers at some point in their lives as members of the royal family.

But it's Hip to be square! Maybe they get their powers from some kind of ritual, or they get to choose their powers at some point in their lives as members of the royal family. Look! Look! I'm being oppressed! Some tyrant with the power over cheese products now gets to decide economic and foreign policy! Look everyone!

But it's Hip to be square! But it has never been hip to be Hope! (Actually, when I was in college there were a couple of elderly ladies who lived down on the corner, on the same block as my apartment. Somehow my roommate and I ended up going over there regularly every Saturday night for a few months, for tea, lemonade, and Lawrence Welk. And we considered ourselves the mid-sixties version of 'hipsters'. In retrospect, maybe not.)
