In some ways, dogs are more work. They have to be walked. They can only be left alone for a relatively short time. On the other hand, dogs tend to be much less fussy about what they eat. Hyvvie eats what's put in front of him. He's particularly fond of vegetables. He likes broccoli. cauliflower, carrots, green beans and peas. He's also quite fond of edamame.

Yeah, but I agree that dogs can be more work - they can't really find food on their own as easily as cats do.
Rabbits, on the other hand, are extremely high maintenance! They get nervous very easily.

I don't get rabbits, either, but then, beagles were bred as rabbit hunters.

Since I've had kids, my need for pets just flew away. I'm not comparing my kids to pets, but I think pets were kind of a place-holder for me. My family has cats, which I used to love, but I have no attachment to them. Maybe I will again after empty nest?

I think my mom is using our dogs as surrogates. Now that my sister and I are grown, we're kind of flying the nest - we don't spend as much time with the family anymore. I like backpacking solo now, for example.
So she calls our dogs her babies (my dad does too), and I think her Facebook account now has more pics of the dogs than it does of me and my sister.

A lot of people who don't have children or don't have small children any more will dote on their dogs or cats. It's pretty normal.

Oh yes, perfectly normal and understandable. The dogs provide good company and help keep her busy throughout the day.

Normal, Illinois, is the home of Illinois State University, which was founded as a teachers' college, or as it then would have been called, a normal school.

And cats all over the world read that, and are now heading to your house I had an additional two at my back door last night oddly enough. A lot of people who don't have children ... dote on their dogs or cats. It's pretty normal. If asked if I'd prefer a cat or children I genuinely go with the cat option. I'd think children would be a place holder for a cat:) "Dad, I'm too big to get in the cat flap now." "Darn kids, when are you gonna leave?"

The cat invasion is beginning! Parenthood doesn't excite me now either. For that matter, having t care for a pet doesn't excite me all that much. I'm just lazy

I've tasted Smucker's peanut butter before. I still prefer the local Lily's brand though.

Smucker's bought Jif Peanut Butter from Procter and Gamble a few years back. They also bought Crisco and Folger's from P & G.

I liked it when I was a kid. Now I find it too sweet. The Boyfriend is allergic, so I no longer keep peanut butter in the house.

Oh too bad. Peanut butter is just so tasty! I mix it with my oatmeal.

I put peanut butter in my oatmeal too. Along with golden raisins. And sometimes a banana.
And I just made myself a nighttime snack of peanut butter (Jif) on vanilla wafers.

I sometimes make oatmeal (or, as we call it "otis meal") for The Boyfriend sometimes when he stays over.

I read that oatmeal is a good food for those looking to lose weight and build muscle. I detest plain oatmeal though. I need some flavor on it. If peanut butter isn't handy, I add honey, cinnamon, nutmeg or skim milk.

I usually eat mine with cinnamon, soy milk and a little Splenda.

It's been a while since I've had soy milk. My favorite is the chocolate-flavored one available at 7-11.

But what if soy milk is just regular milk introducing itself in Spanish?
