I had a few great pages from the fiat lux story line at the end of the satellite era which prominently feature Hawkwoman, Black Canary and Zatanna. I was hoping to post them during the run off but now they are senseless!

By my count, only 2 of the voters from previous rounds haven't voted yet.

Aw Peebz, post them anyway! At the very least we should be able to appreciate these great characters.

P.S. So Dave and Quis don't think I'm blocking them, I should point out that by "no one wanted to vote for Shayera", I meant "nowhere near as many people as I was expecting since I thought she was a front-runner".

I didn't think Barry was going to get through to the final three, but I was going to be really happy voting for Shayera. Having so recently read Beasts, Fiatlux and the Shadow War of Hawkman, Shayera is possibly shown at her best in those issues.

Black Canary gets a lot of excellent panel time around then too - taking on paragon, training Firestorm and looking more of a leaguer than Ollie.

But Barry's consistent quality over decades rather than in the short golden periods for the other two certainly played a factor.

I think Flashpoint and losing Wally West in general has turned me off the Flash too much.....that makes it a choice between Hawkgirl & Dinah for me and I think they're both awesome but I think Dinah is that tiny bit awesomerer so I'm voting for BLACK CANARY!

Beasts is so good! so good.

My introduction to the JLA was the first part of Beasts.

What are "Beasts" and "Fiatlux" about, and what issues were they published in?

Beast is a rather gory cautionary 3-part tale about doing anything to stay ahead of the pack, and that the power so attained corrupts, both mentally and physically.

There's a great Hawks subplot going through it. There's a very early Wonder Woman/Supes smooch (at least she's momentarily confused as Supes is giving her the kiss of life). There's plenty of action for all of the leaguers and I won;t spoil the bad things that happen to a lot of them.

Beasts ran in issues 221,222 & 223 starting on the cover date of December 1983. It was by Conway & Patton.

After an issue where the League took on Paragon, The Fiatlux trilogy started in #225 We catch up with the Atom between Sword of Specials and minis.

He joins the Hawks, Canary, Zee and Ollie to investigate the separate arms of an ancient cult. But a cult that has kept ahead of the times and is seeking to restore an ancient demon to our world.

The downtime scenes make this one special, making the removal of these guys for the Detroit league even more disappointing. Reddy and Ralph join the line up as they take on a cult leader in each issue. It's by Cavalieri & Patton.

I liked the Paragon issue a lot too.

Vote Hoarder - Black Canary earned a total of 4,489 points in the game; Hawkwoman came second with 3,575.

Gold Medalist - Black Canary was ranked first in a total of 6 rounds in this game.

Mr. and Ms. Popularity - Martian Manhunter and Hawkwoman share this distinction. I counted the number of times each character was on the most number of lists per round, and J'Onn and Shayera were both the most voted characters for 4 rounds in this game. I'm sad it is over, I was hoping for a tie breaker round.

I don't think it was my introduction ... maybe it was ... but it was the first time I tried to follow a story ... I got most of Beasts, and lost some of them along the way. sort of an adult story for a five year old!

It is really under rated. We've never seen them again either.

I especially remember the stuff with Elongated Man and the Hawks, was heart wrenching .. and I loved the finale.


Fiat Lux was also really good ... lots of great use of thought bubbles.

Beasts... is that the one where people turned themselves into animal-human hybrids? I remember Firestorm had quite a major role in it. That WAS a nice story, and is one of those that stand out in my hazy memory.
