I first encountered the costume being burned in her appearances in JL/JLI. Maybe it's because Kevin Maguire drew her in it so damned well, but I really dug Dinah in that costume!

I think I saw it first on the cover of detective (which I now realise is a homage to Flash 92), and inside a book when Byrne and then Maguire drew it. I just liked it because it seemed a little more practical than the fishnets. Oh, and it had a cool headband thing too.

I have a real fondess for that group of heroines that put an end to the one-girl-to-a- team rule comics had. The Scarlet Witch, Polaris, Crystal, Lilith and Black Canary. The Legion, of course, shattered that from the beginning, but it was the rule proving exception. Over time, the Scarlet Witch, Crystal and Dinah all formed connections that took them out of their respective niches. Dinah, in fact, became one of, if not *the* most well-connected characters of the postcrisis, preflashpointed DC universe.

I miss that about her terribly. Like Dick Grayson, she's a shadow of what she was. The spy thing's being used for both as some kind of compensation that really doesn't work for me.

Dinah did indeed take it a step further, with Birds of Prey, not merely the first League lady to go on to her own thing (like Diana), but to have her own team book.

Before the relaunch, it might have been interesting to see Dinah heading up a League team of her own.
