The Fury of Firestorm (along with Super-Team Family) is probably the top Bronze Age DC comic that I've always wanted to add to my collection. I've only read one issue (one of the early ones with the Hyena on the cover) but I really liked it and was left intrigued enough about Firestorm's world to want to know more.

I've also always thought that Ronnie and the Prof had a really interesting and diverse Rogues Gallery, despite only having read their appearances elsewhere. It's a shame that most of them were wasted as cannon-fodder in various events (and in Suicide Squad). And that Killer Frost's awesomely unique and intricate original design was supplanted in favour of that generic eyesore she's sported ever since the 90s.

Ooh, open bribery and voter manipulation! I'm so proud!

It's like the LMB has finally grown up and become a first-world country!

I already voted for Atom and Firestorm, unfortunately, so my only corrupt negotiating tactic is to threaten to change my YES votes to NO if everyone doesn't vote YES for Booster Gold! smile

So from the looks of it, if we all could only bring one character back -

Lardy, thothkins - Firestorm
Blacula - Atom
Set - Booster Gold
me - Dr. Light

Anyone else? tongue I bet Xben would bring back Wally.

Quis would bring back Atom, Firestorm or Reddy (since he only gave YESES to those three),

and Peebz would bring back Atom or Hawkman (since he only gave YESES to those two)!

Yes, I loved the raggedy dress she used to wear. And having her powers be related to heat was brilliant! Killer Frost has easily become a well-known villain, even non-Firestorm readers know her well.

And Multiplex is another good villain who made the multiplicity power very interesting.

I'd actually forgotten that Killer Frost was a Firestorm villain! She's really branched out and blossomed!

Multiplex is an odder one. His power to split into smaller and smaller selves was pretty unique, but most recently (when Red Tornado was brain-swapped into one of his brain-dead bodies), he was more of a generic duplicator, like Silent Majority or Jamie Madrox or Duplicate Damsel.

I haven't spoken up on this favorite-to-return thing much, but my druthers would be for anyone who doesn't make 75% to just remain in the discard pile.

In the end, there's only going to be one anyway, and bringing people back willy-nilly is only going to result in them getting dropped over and over, which seems more dispiriting / frustrating than losing them the first time, to me.

I don't think anyone has more than 62% (ish), at this point, so most likely, nobody is coming back, which is probably as it should be. We have very different tastes, and that's what makes it kind of interesting.

If all ten to fifteen of us were like 'Batman!' we wouldn't be the quirky bunch of conventional unconventionalists that we are!

And if all ten to fifteen of us were like 'L-Ron!' we'd probably be a little bit *too* conventionally unconventional...

I voted yes to pretty much everyone to give as much of a chance as possible to characters I knew someone would like.

Did I ask for anything in return for this selfless gesture? Of course not. That defeats the purpose of a selfless gesture.

But the subtext of me not asking for anything was clearly that everyone should switch any Firestorm no votes to Yes votes. smile

I haven't even got into talking about Ronnie & the Prof yet. I'd even contribute to the Firestorm review thread. Or not. We could have another Yes/no vote on that.

Take a look at the favourites of other LWers. Make their day brighter and happier by thinking about a Yes vote. You could start with Firestorm, in case of any sudden computer issues smile

ROUND TEN ENDS!

One of the most interesting rounds so far in the game closes, as 14 voters formed a tribunal to make these eliminated characters pass through a gauntlet. Does anyone succeed?

In order of No. of YES votes...

Version Character - YES votes - Percentage
(JL Unlimited Toon) Green Lantern (John Stewart) - 3 - 21%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) - 4 - 29%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Fire - 4 - 29%
(JL Unlimited Toon) Hawkgirl - 5 - 36%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold - 5 - 36%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) - 5 - 36%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Batman (Bruce Wayne) - 6 - 43%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Light (Kimiyo Hoshi) - 6 - 43%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Wally West) - 6 - 43%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - 6 - 43%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - 7 - 50%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) - 7 - 50%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado - 8 - 57%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Superman - 8 - 57%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Atom (Ray Palmer) - 9 - 64%
(Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) - 9 - 64%

Even if Future (or any other 15th voter) had come in and given everybody a YES, nobody was going to make it this round!

So we're still left with a Top Eight.

ROUND ELEVEN BEGINS!!

The winnowing begins again! Hope last round gave everybody time to think about who on the list is really important to them. From the discussions, nobody was truly safe and if any one of us had switched our second place and first place picks, someone different could have gone home last round!

From Top Eight, let's go down to Top 5! Rank your Top FOUR. Points will be given as follows:

Rank - Points

1 - 20
2 - 10
3 - 5
4 - 1

Our Top Eight:

(Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance)
(Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man
(Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Barry Allen)
(Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol, Silver Age)
(Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter
(Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen
(Pre-Flashpoint) Wonder Woman (Diana)
(Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna

House Rules

1) Each round will last about 48 hours. I will try to end each round at the same time, but this won't always be possible because of work.

2) I'll vote at the start of every round to minimize bias on my part.

3) I don't actively encourage editing of votes; it's a smart tactic but may be unfair for those who don't get to log on as often. However, I won't disallow them either. I'll only tally votes at the end of each round (to make it easier on myself!). I'll post on this thread the minute I start tallying to alert everyone; votes that come in after that will be ignored.

4) In case of errors in the results, I'll post a correction immediately. If anyone's vote was affected by the error, that poster will be notified by PM immediately. If the poster cannot correct his/her votes before the end of the round, he/she will get a makeup point next round - a +15 bonus. This only applies to instances where I made the error, and not where the poster made an error.

5) Points will be given based on your ranking. The higher you rank a character on your list, the more points that character will get (e.g. Rank 1 gets 10 points, Rank 2 gets 9 points...) Point distributions will change per round.

6) Exception to the above will be the first 1-2 rounds of the game, which trim the list down considerably. Each vote will count as one point, and characters below a certain point threshold get eliminated.

7) Because several characters have the same code name, and because the list includes multiple realities, PLEASE SPECIFY which character you are voting for. I won't make assumptions for votes which don't identify the character clearly. Example, if you vote for:

1) Superman
2) Maya
3) Elongated Man
4) Green Lantern (Pre-Flashpoint)

I'll only count the votes for Maya and Elongated Man. I have no way of knowing if you're voting for JLU Superman vs. Pre Flashpoint Superman, or whether you're voting for Hal, Kyle, Guy or John.

This round will end LATE SATURDAY NIGHT my time (possibly, very early Sunday morning, think 2am or so).

Don't have time to vote right now - I have to head out now - but just wanted to leave with this message smile

Although I would have to heavily discourage it, especially in normal ranking rounds where the voter hasn't made a mistake with his/her vote. It's sure to rile those who thought their characters were safe, only to come back and see that some clever editing had sent a fave home!

We only have three rounds left to go, so I would heavily discourage editing of votes. Best to just wait and vote near the end.

(Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) - 9 - 64%

Interesting results. Way back in Round 1, Firestorm got votes from 10/12 players and Red Tornado got 11/12. Superman got 9/12. But Atom only got 7/12 and this round he tied with Firestorm!

I'm pleased that Kimiyo got so many votes, considering her relatively short League tenure. Very pleased to see her tie with the likes of Batman, Hal and Wally. Interesting that she did fairly well last round but got eliminated 3 rounds ago!

Toon Shayera got 2 more votes than toon John, while Booster and Ice got 1 more than Beetle and Fire. This is fairly consistent with the number of votes they've been getting the past few rounds.

Ronnie's still gone? Man, it's like when he didn't stay with Justice League Detroit. But sadder obviously considering how doomed that was.
