I thought we were supposed to vote based on how we felt people interacted as part of the team? I really haven't been voting for favorites. This is the way I prefer to vote too. I've voted for the characters that meant the most to the league for me. A lot of those characters are still in (typed without looking at this round), so it's not made too much of a difference so far. Oh, definitely! I should clarify that when I said "favorites", I mean favorites in the context of the League. It's certainly not "wrong" to vote for the characters who made the best League team members. I just wanted to stress that eventually we will go down to one. I may have misread Emily's post, I thought you were trying to create an ultimate League team or something like that. I love how unpredictable our tastes can be. Six votes in and there are still 3 of the 24 without a single vote! (I'll fix that. Nobody should go home without one of us dancing with them.)
And the winnowing has begun. The quirkiness that led to Kole being top Titan, or Duela Dent being a serious contender over 'classics' like Dick Grayson, Wally West and Donna Troy, will probably not avail us here.
I figured out the 3 without votes as of your post, Set. Agree it's surprising, as all 3 have had their share of 1st, 2nd or 3rd place votes in previous rounds. I'm confident we'll see them at the top of some lists, as many of us haven't voted yet. As for quirkiness... Although the list now is full of Satellite Era and JLI Era heroes, most with long histories with the team, I think we'll see some surprises in the next few rounds as well. We already did, with the relatively early exits of Aquaman, Elongated Man and Wonder Woman (her first time anyway).

I have given it considerable thought, and I don't think I have ever read a Satellite Era Justice League comic book. Do they hold up to the test of time?
I know Blacula and several others will agree, but I'd rank JLA #200 among the best comics of all time. Plenty of other solid stories from the Satellite era, as well.

Man... I've been voting this whole time on which member had the best singing voice! I was voting on sex appeal! (Okay, in retrospect, that makes my votes for Etrigan seem bizarre...)

I bet it was Jason Blood's naked scene in Obsidian Age that got you, Set!
I haven't read any Satellite Era issues in a while but several still stand out in my memory.

Little known fact, Red Tornado can imitate other voices flawlessly, so he wins the 'best singing voice' hands down.
Dinah's audition deafened two of the three judges, and shattered bits of her drinking glass had to be removed from the third.
Zee's audition went south because she kept gnitteg eht sciryl sdrawkcab.
Shayera's golden eagle mating cry was flawless, but the judges were not grading on 'best impression of a predatory raptor.'
Bruce has an amazing baritone, but refused to participate because he didn't want anyone analyzing his vocal patterns to figure out his secret identity. (The rest of the contestants were like, 'Is that even a thing? Can people even do that?')

Katar very much liked Shayera's singing though.
Superman was disqualified for pretending to use super-ventriloquism, but instead lip-synching.
Diana's audition went well, until she used her lasso to compel the judges to give her truthful criticism.
Barry and Wally sang their songs too quickly. The judges didn't even register that they'd finished.
Hal didn't even get to finish his song. Someone threw a banana at him in the middle and knocked him out cold.

I am perversely amused by the idea of Black Canary having a really terrible singing voice actually ...and a little sad that I had to dump Ice off my list this time around. Sorry Tora! It has also occurred to me that the Atom was actually one of my favourite Leaguers growing up, Identity Crisis and Cry For Justice really left a bad taste in my mouth for Atom-related comics. Thanks for ruining superhero comics DC, ya jerks! My picks from highest to lowest: 1. (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire 2. (Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado 3. (Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) 4. (Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man 5. (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna 6. (Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter 7. (Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) 8. (JL Unlimited Toon) Hawkgirl 9. (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) 10.(Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen

Pointless milestone 'o the minute, there are only two characters left who only have a single vote! ...and a little sad that I had to dump Ice off my list this time around. Sorry Tora! It has also occurred to me that the Atom was actually one of my favourite Leaguers growing up, Identity Crisis and Cry For Justice really left a bad taste in my mouth for Atom-related comics. Thanks for ruining superhero comics DC, ya jerks! My only real memory of the Atom is in his little loincloth (over a complete super-suit, quest-ce ficque?) with a wee sword fighting for the little yellow people! Someone waving a flashlight at him and knocking him out of the air, because, apparently, being Deathstroke means that you can see people the size of individual photons of light leaping at you, fortunately was not an issue I read, so I've only heard about this infamy on the interwebs. (I'm sure the writer was going for 'Look what a badass Deathstroke is, he's taking out the entire League!' but all he got was 'Wow, this is so painfully insultingly stupid, I can't even take this formerly awesome character seriously anymore.')

That issue turned him into a Mary Sue. I don't care how good he is, he shouldn't be able to beat a Flash, a Green Lantern, Zatanna, Black Canary, Atom, Hawkman, Elongated Man AND Green Arrow at the same time!
Since when did he have microscopic vision?
I did like Atom's use in Blackest Night though. Although he never struck me as particularly compassionate. I also liked Atom in the JLU toon.

That must have been an excellent online review. It was exactly as rubbish as that. The whole thing was dreadfully executed. That's purely on the storytelling never mind the effects on cherished characters.

Listen, I could go on all day about Identity Crisis and how it was the (bad) turning point for DC in terms of tone, content and and everything else, but on top of that it was a bad story and an even worse murder mystery. My top 2 peeves: 1) The events in the last issue were significantly different than when they were depicted in the first (including Sue bleeding form the ears, her reaction shots, etc.). You can't solve a mystery if they don't play fair. 2) With all of the focus they put on the insane amount of forensic investigation into the murder, no one checked the phone records?

It was an appalling story if treated as a murder mystery. The butler did it. He was driving a tank through the holes in the plot.

And we also have Firestorm's throwaway death. He gets stabbed, explodes, and that's it. Not necessary to the story. Not touched on by the story. What the heck?

And everyone now has at least two people voting for them, thanks to thothkins!
That 52/Infinite Crisis event writing sure was junky. I was just looking at scans from the funeral of Ted Kord online, and it seems that just about every Leaguer was written as being a bit of a jerk to him, and didn't take him seriously, just to ramp up the angst. (Granted, some of that had been written for years, thanks to the general disrespect and occasional physical abuse some of the Bwaha League heaped on each other, but it shouldn't have spread to generally more serious characters and books.)

Those scenes also ignored the other close friendships Ted developed during that time, besides with Booster. Yes, Guy Gardner broke his ribs, but Ted got along well with Fire and Ice and pretty much everyone else.

Alright, let's see if this strategy gets at least my top 7 to another round....
1.(Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold 2.(Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) 3.(Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) 4.(Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) 5.(Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) 6.(Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter 7.(Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna 8.(Pre-Flashpoint) Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) 9.(Pre-Flashpoint) Fire 10.(Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance)
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

ROUND SEVEN IS OVER!
This is probably the most surprising round yet, as at least two of the characters going home have never been in trouble before. Just goes to show that even one additional voter can make a HUGE difference.
(Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) - 467 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol, Silver Age) - 410 (Pre-Flashpoint) Wonder Woman (Diana) - 391 (Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) - 381 (Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold - 370
(Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man - 344 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Barry Allen) - 338 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - 313 (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) - 294 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - 293
(Pre-Flashpoint) Atom (Ray Palmer) - 283 (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna - 280 (Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen - 279 (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire - 273 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) - 250
(Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter - 230 (Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado - 222 (Pre-Flashpoint) Superman - 190
And we say goodbye to the following...
(Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Light (Kimiyo Hoshi) - 183 (JL Unlimited Toon) Green Lantern (John Stewart) - 150 (Pre-Flashpoint) Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) - 146 (Pre-Flashpoint) Batman (Bruce Wayne) - 126 (JL Unlimited Toon) Hawkgirl - 120 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Wally West) - 24
I'm not too surprised with Kimiyo's exit. She only made it back because of Future's 50 points, and with him absent this round...
Time's up for the last of our JLU toon characters as well, as John and Shayera both go home. Also, with toon Shayera gone, we no longer have any duplicates of the same "character" on our list.
Poor Ice put up a valiant effort, but even in Round 5 she wasn't doing so well. She leaves best friend Fire behind yet again.
And finally, our two big surprises.
With the absences of Xben and Future, Wally West didn't get his usual two 1st place votes. Out he goes. So long, Wally...
... and another founder leaves the League behind as Batman just doesn't muster enough points, despite having been on 5 out of 13 lists.
Whew. Things really are going to get tougher as we go along.

For comparison, characters by number of voters:
(Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter - 10 (Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Wonder Woman (Diana) - 7 (Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) - 7 (Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado - 7 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol, Silver Age) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Barry Allen) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Atom (Ray Palmer) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man - 5 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - 5 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) - 5 (Pre-Flashpoint) Batman (Bruce Wayne) - 5 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - 4 (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire - 4 (Pre-Flashpoint) Superman - 4 (Pre-Flashpoint) Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) - 4 (JL Unlimited Toon) Hawkgirl - 4 (Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold - 3 (Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Light (Kimiyo Hoshi) - 3 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Wally West) - 3 (JL Unlimited Toon) Green Lantern (John Stewart) - 2
J'Onn tops this list but was near the bottom in terms of total points.
Of the 3 with 8 votes, Dinah topped the points list, but Zatanna and Vixen were smack dab in the middle.
Diana's fans made up for her earlier elimination by keeping her very safe this round; so did the fans of Ralph and Ted.
Booster Gold only was on 3 lists, but got 5th place in the rankings.
Ronnie and Shayera are also doing fairly well in terms of both points and number of votes.

ROUND EIGHT BEGINS!!
Had to make some tough choices last round? It only gets worse! We'll go down from 18 to 12 - bottom 6 leave again.
(3 voters had their entire list last round make it intact, while 5 others only lost one character each. But with our list smaller by two this round...)
Rank your Top 8 characters on the list.
Points will be given as follows: (Rank - Points)
1 - 120 2 - 70 3 - 40 4 - 20 5 - 10 6 - 6 7 - 3 8 - 1
This round ends on my Sunday night, which is Sunday morning US time.
House Rules
1) Each round will last about 48 hours. I will try to end each round at the same time, but this won't always be possible because of work.
2) I'll vote at the start of every round to minimize bias on my part.
3) I don't actively encourage editing of votes; it's a smart tactic but may be unfair for those who don't get to log on as often. However, I won't disallow them either. I'll only tally votes at the end of each round (to make it easier on myself!). I'll post on this thread the minute I start tallying to alert everyone; votes that come in after that will be ignored.
4) In case of errors in the results, I'll post a correction immediately. If anyone's vote was affected by the error, that poster will be notified by PM immediately. If the poster cannot correct his/her votes before the end of the round, he/she will get a makeup point next round - a +15 bonus. This only applies to instances where I made the error, and not where the poster made an error.
5) Points will be given based on your ranking. The higher you rank a character on your list, the more points that character will get (e.g. Rank 1 gets 10 points, Rank 2 gets 9 points...) Point distributions will change per round.
6) Exception to the above will be the first 1-2 rounds of the game, which trim the list down considerably. Each vote will count as one point, and characters below a certain point threshold get eliminated.
7) Because several characters have the same code name, and because the list includes multiple realities, PLEASE SPECIFY which character you are voting for. I won't make assumptions for votes which don't identify the character clearly. Example, if you vote for:
1) Superman 2) Maya 3) Elongated Man 4) Green Lantern (Pre-Flashpoint)
I'll only count the votes for Maya and Elongated Man. I have no way of knowing if you're voting for JLU Superman vs. Pre Flashpoint Superman, or whether you're voting for Hal, Kyle, Guy or John.
Our Top 18!
(Pre-Flashpoint) Atom (Ray Palmer) (Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) (Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold (Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire (Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Barry Allen) (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol, Silver Age) (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) (Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter (Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado (Pre-Flashpoint) Superman (Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen (Pre-Flashpoint) Wonder Woman (Diana) (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna

Poor Wally. I always thought he was one of, if not the, best of the non-Satellite Leaguers. He just seemed to fit so well with the rest of the Big Seven.
Ugh, I think my list was hit hardest last round. I lost 4 (someone else lost 5 and another lost 3, everyone else lost 2 or less), INCLUDING my Top 2 characters. And Kimiyo only went home by 7 points... well, 8. If she had tied with Superman she'd still have gone home. But 8 is pretty close.
Reshuffling my list...
1 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire 2 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna 3 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) 4 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter 5 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen 6 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold 7 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Wonder Woman (Diana) 8 - (Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man
