Doing the tallies now but couldn't help but chime in - the trouble with JSA is how crowded the book became. We had over a dozen new legacies introduced in, what, the first year?
I also found it boring and a bit unimaginative that the great majority of the new legacies were variations of the "hits people really hard" type of power. Yeah, I know most of the Golden Agers had that sort of powerset, but...
That's why characters like Stargirl, Cyclone, Lightning, Damage, Amazing Man, Jakeem Thunder, Sand and Obsidian stood out more for me. Greater variations in powers. It's sad that many of them got barely any screen time because of how crowded the book got (with Obsidian, Jakeem and Sand suffering most, and Amazing Man being written out soon after!).

I was kind of hoping the Damage / Arsenal connection would lead to more development (with Damage going to spend time on the reservation that took Roy in for a time).

LWL's vote came in JUST as I was posting the round results! Although, it slipped in BEFORE I did so I'll consider it (despite it most likely causing some of my faves to go home!)

ROUND FIVE ENDS!... and LWL's vote did indeed save one character, while sending home my #1 pick, Dr. Light Oh well, them's the breaks. This is the first round where a single 1st place vote hasn't spelled safety. (Incidentally, the saved character is Hal Jordan. Satellite Era voters will be fairly relieved this round, as we only lost two Satellite Era members...) (Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) - 836 (Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter - 577 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Barry Allen) - 523 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol, Silver Age) - 516 (Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold - 500 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) - 500 (Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) - 494 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - 469 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Wally West) - 445 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - 395 (Pre-Flashpoint) Atom (Ray Palmer) - 391 (Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen - 380 (Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado - 361 (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire - 315 (Pre-Flashpoint) Batman (Bruce Wayne) - 313 (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna - 312 (JL Unlimited Toon) Hawkgirl - 255 (JL Unlimited Toon) Green Lantern (John Stewart) - 250 (Pre-Flashpoint) Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) - 240 (Pre-Flashpoint) Superman - 233 (Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man - 222 (Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Light (Kimiyo Hoshi) - 216 (Pre-Flashpoint) Steel (Hank Heywood III) - 210 (Super Friends) Apache Chief - 201 (Pre-Flashpoint) Phantom Stranger - 200 (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) - 190 (Pre-Flashpoint) Big Barda - 185 (Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) - 132 (Pre-Flashpoint) Power Girl - 104 (Pre-Flashpoint) Etrigan / Jason Blood - 85 ... so the Satellite Era League loses Elongated Man and the Phantom Stranger. We also lose several JLI/E era members: Power Girl, Ted Kord, Kimiyo Hoshi, Kent Nelson. (I have to add, Elongated Man was also a JLI era stalwart). Big Barda, who finally earned full membership in the Morrison Era, also bows out (she's also the last New God on the list). Same goes for Jason Blood, whose "true" membership was confined to the Obsidian Age storyline. And we lose our last Super Friend, Apache Chief. And finally, one of the last two Detroit League debuts, Hank Heywood, also goes home. Whew. What a wipeout.

Here are the stats in terms of number of voters:
(Pre-Flashpoint) Martian Manhunter - 12 (Pre-Flashpoint) Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) - 11 (Pre-Flashpoint) Zatanna - 10 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol, Silver Age) - 9 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Barry Allen) - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Hawkman (Katar Hol, Silver Age) - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Vixen - 8 (Pre-Flashpoint) Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) - 7 (Pre-Flashpoint) Atom (Ray Palmer) - 7 (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) - 7 (Pre-Flashpoint) Flash (Wally West) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Red Tornado - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Fire - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Batman (Bruce Wayne) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Superman - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Elongated Man - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Power Girl - 6 (Pre-Flashpoint) Booster Gold - 5 (JL Unlimited Toon) Hawkgirl - 5 (Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) - 5 (Pre-Flashpoint) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) - 4 (Pre-Flashpoint) Big Barda - 4 (JL Unlimited Toon) Green Lantern (John Stewart) - 3 (Pre-Flashpoint) Doctor Light (Kimiyo Hoshi) - 3 (Pre-Flashpoint) Steel (Hank Heywood III) - 3 (Super Friends) Apache Chief - 2 (Pre-Flashpoint) Etrigan / Jason Blood - 2 (Pre-Flashpoint) Phantom Stranger - 1
I think more than ever, the number of voters and the number of points lists are becoming similar.
Of the 10 going home, only Ted Kord got 7 or more votes. Power Girl and Elongated Man got 6 votes, tying them with several characters in the middle of the ranks.
Of the bottom 10 in terms of voters, only Hal Jordan (4 voters) and toon John Stewart (3 voters) survived.
Let's look at the top 10 of both lists. Dinah, J'Onn, Barry, both Hawks, Firestorm and Ollie are in the Top 10 both in terms of points and in terms of voters.
For the rest of the top 10 in points, Wally West (rank 9) has 6 votes while Booster Gold (rank 5) has 5 voters. Hal Jordan (rank 10) has 4.
For the rest of the top 10 in number of voters, Vixen (8 votes) is 12th, Atom (7 votes) is 11th and poor Ted Kord got eliminated. (The cut-off for top 10 in votes is 7 votes, with Atom, Firestorm and Beetle tying).

Oooh...I lose Ted, but otherwise my Top 12 remains intact. But there's always the second chance round, which I'm sure will be any time now.....
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Thanks for getting me in IB, I'm sorry if I caused you more work at the last minute, I had just found the thread right after your last post and was reviewing it trying to figure out who was left and who I could vote for.
I was quite surprised to see Wonder Woman was gone? the only one of the Big 3 I consider an original member of the JLA, as I think of Kal as a Legionnaire first, and even though the Outsiders did not appear until the 80's Batman seemed to fit with them better than he ever did the League at least in the Bronze Age, the Justice League cartoon changed my opinion on this later though.
I tried to rip their soul out.I tried to make them forget Superman. But they won't.

Sorry - have a call to take. Will start the new round shortly Just some random thoughts: I lost nearly half my list, including my #1 pick. I knew Kimiyo wouldn't last too long, but I'm fairly surprised that Ted and Ralph and even Kara didn't last longer. Then again, I shouldn't have been - the Top 20 is dominated by Satellite Era members both in terms of points and in terms of votes. I think among the Idol games this is the one where the list is dominated by a certain era. In Titans Idol, we had underdogs Kole and Flamebird make the Top 3; in Multiverse Legion, the Top 10 saw the likes of Kinetix, Shikari, Dragonmage and Tyroc. Postboot Legion Idol had Kinetix, Monstress and Andromeda in the Top 12, while Preboot Legion Idol had Nightwind, Chemical King, Spider-Girl, Bouncing Boy and the White Witch making it over more established Legionnaires with much longer tenures. I was a little disappointed by the homogeneity of the list, but looking back I could actually accept many of the top ranks as winner of the game. (I still do hope our list will continue to keep some Post-Satellite characters like Vixen, Booster, Fire and Ice though! I don't want a Top 12 filled exclusively with Satellite Leaguers ) Maybe the dominance of the Satellite Era is a testament to just how great that era was or how iconic those characters are? Interesting that the ones doing best are characters who generally weren't all that popular before joining the League. Aquaman and Diana have gone home, and Hal and Superman are both in a bit of danger. But as Set observed, "weaker" characters with more personality development like the Hawks and Dinah continue to do well. Thanks for getting me in IB, I'm sorry if I caused you more work at the last minute, I had just found the thread right after your last post and was reviewing it trying to figure out who was left and who I could vote for.

No worries, LWL! It didn't take too much work or time to include your votes and re-run the calculations. I use MS Excel so it's quite easy, and if I can help it I'd like as many people to be able to participate as possible. I do hold you responsible for letting Kimiyo go home though (kiddding!) I agree with you that Diana, among the Big 3, is the one I most consider as a JLer. I spent a long time reading about Superman not wanting to join the League because he felt a team would slow him down, and for the longest time Batman was all dark and broody and bullying. There WERE also times Diana was hesitant to join the League, but for hte most part she's the Big 3 member who seemed most comfortable working with, and even leading, a team.

ROUND SIX BEGINS!!
Our list is down to 20, which is a bit of an odd number. But second chances abound; Major Disaster got a second chance when Batman invited him to join the League. Carter got a second chance when Blackest Day resurrected Shiera. Ice, Animal Man, Hal, Ollie, Barry, Diana, Clark, Arthuer, J'Onn, Ronnie and Donna all got second chances at life; and Red Tornado's been destroyed so many times he (it?) should be the poster boy for resurrections!
Lardy picked up on my repeated hints, because Round Six is INDEED our Wild Card round!
A word of caution - as has happened in the past, the character you bring back just might cause another of your faves to go home!
This round ends on my Wednesday night, which would be Wednesday AM US time. My apologies as we've slowed down last week, much of it because of me. So let's pick up the pace a bit, shall we?
Read carefully, please!
Each player gets 150 points to distribute however they please.
To use Legionnaires as an example:
Voter 1 - 150 points to Gates
Voter 2 - 100 points to Kinetix, 50 points to Dawnstar
Voter 3 - 30 points to Monstress, 30 points to Wildfire, 30 points to Bouncing Boy, 30 points to Brainiac 5, 30 points to Nightwind
and so on, as long as:
a) You only vote for characters on the list below b) Your total points add up to 150 (if your total is less than 150, I'll stick count it).
Top 4 vote-getters come back to the list, joining our current 20 to make a Top 24.
In case of ties, the character who had the most accumulated votes when he/she was eliminated will return to the game.
House Rules
1) Each round will last about 48 hours. I will try to end each round at the same time, but this won't always be possible because of work.
2) I'll vote at the start of every round to minimize bias on my part.
3) I don't actively encourage editing of votes; it's a smart tactic but may be unfair for those who don't get to log on as often. However, I won't disallow them either. I'll only tally votes at the end of each round (to make it easier on myself!). I'll post on this thread the minute I start tallying to alert everyone; votes that come in after that will be ignored.
4) In case of errors in the results, I'll post a correction immediately. If anyone's vote was affected by the error, that poster will be notified by PM immediately. If the poster cannot correct his/her votes before the end of the round, he/she will get a makeup point next round - a +15 bonus. This only applies to instances where I made the error, and not where the poster made an error.
5) Points will be given based on your ranking. The higher you rank a character on your list, the more points that character will get (e.g. Rank 1 gets 10 points, Rank 2 gets 9 points...) Point distributions will change per round.
6) Exception to the above will be the first 1-2 rounds of the game, which trim the list down considerably. Each vote will count as one point, and characters below a certain point threshold get eliminated.
7) Because several characters have the same code name, and because the list includes multiple realities, PLEASE SPECIFY which character you are voting for. I won't make assumptions for votes which don't identify the character clearly. Example, if you vote for:
1) Superman 2) Maya 3) Elongated Man 4) Green Lantern (Pre-Flashpoint)
I'll only count the votes for Maya and Elongated Man. I have no way of knowing if you're voting for JLU Superman vs. Pre Flashpoint Superman, or whether you're voting for Hal, Kyle, Guy or John.
Your 317 hopefuls:

There are a lot of characters I want to see back - Ted, Diana, Power Girl, Ralph and Sue chief among them. There are also tons of lesser-known characters who were eliminated early, but I don't think they'd last long even if they did return. And I'm confident others will vote Diana and Ralph (at least) in, while Ted and Kara also have decent chances to return.
So I'm giving all my 150 points to Doctor Light (Kimiyo).
I know her time with the League wasn't the longest, but when I first started reading the League she was at the forefront. As a teen I thought she could do no wrong, and she (despite her sometimes being awfully bitchy) she is still my favorite.

100 points to (Pre-Flashpoint) Wonder Woman (Diana) 50 points to (Pre-Flashpoint) Aquaman
Fixed, sorry guys I increased my tally on Diana from 50 to 100 and forgot to get rid of the bottom two characters
Mera and Ralph.

I tried to rip their soul out.I tried to make them forget Superman. But they won't.

Posted at the same time as Lardy! Thanks for the catch (and to EDE, who caught another error a few rounds back).
By the way, thanks again to everyone for the participation. We peaked at 15 (!) voters last round!

That's certainly given me more to think about re the Stranger. I always liked him as a linchpin of the DCU Magical Community, though I never considered him a true Leaguer. I do like the character, just never really associated him with the League. The two complete Conway creations of Vixen and Steel easily stand above Gypsy and Vibe which had Patton influences (if I recall correctly). Patton's visuals for Steel and Vixen remain their best looks for me. Like with Set and thothkins, Vixen remains my favorite of the Detroit League. Steel had the most sympathetic story IMO. I could empathize - Asian families are full of stories where kids are being "pushed" or "strongly guided" into certain paths in life. I was very happy when he took steps to free himself form his grandpa. Gypsy, I hated during her Detroit League appearances. I only started liking her when she appeared again during the JLI days and later; this was when they toned down the stereotyping and began letting her grew into a fully dimensional character. While Superman, Martian Manhunter, Big Barda, etc. hang on, a lot of *serious* powerhouses have left us; Icon, Olympian, Captain Atom, Faith, Maxima, Aztek, Triumph, Zauriel, Mon-El, Orion, Lobo, Supergirl, Captain Marvel, etc. Some intrigue me, like Olympian and Captain Atom and perhaps Aztek or Faith, while others, like Lobo and Triumph and Zauriel, I'm finding fonder in their absence. I am fond of Captain Atom, and if it weren't for the whole Monarch rubbish he'd probably have been higher on my list. And I liked Faith; although she was shoehorned in during Obsidian Age I felt that she earned her stripes. Zauriel... he was alright, but besides being an angel, he was quite boring Interesting to see how the votes go. Mostly we seem to be voting for personal favorites, or those active in our preferred incarnations of the League, and feel most iconically 'Justice League.' Few are voting for sheer power, so more developed and dynamically personalized characters like Black Canary and Hawkgirl are way ahead of much, much more powerful ladies like Power Girl or Big Barda.
I agree with your analysis Set, although I'll also add that in the last few rounds, some of us were starting to vote "practically" - that is, for characters we felt stood a chance, rather than for our personal favorites. I noticed maybe 1 or 2 lists change dramatically between rounds I'm glad we're not voting for just sheer power, but rather for which characters have struck chords in us.

I have a feeling we are all going to vote for different people. What happens if there is no majority?

If several characters tie with the same number of points (which IS likely, we're 5 voters in and no two have voted for the same character), I will use the total of all votes from previous rounds to determine who comes back.
For example, if Matter-Eater Lad and Theena both get 300 points. But Matter-Eater Lad got a total of 876 points in past rounds, while Theena only got 678. Matter-Eater Lad will return.
By the way, I got LWL's correction. Thanks LWL!

It's interesting that Zee came in third place as far as number of votes but was only 5 spots above the elimination point. This means she appeared in 2/3 of the lists but was middling as far as her rankings.

Yeah, unlike with Dinah and Shayera in previous rounds who topped BOTH points and voters. And now we have J'Onn. Zee has actually been dangerously close to elimination for two rounds now (yet even after the first close shave, she didn't get a significant boost in points).
I can only conclude that a lot of people like Zee, but none really have her as a top fave (so far)!

It seems to go from 'I'll vote for my favorites!' to 'My favorites are gone, I guess I should pick the Satellite-era person I wouldn't mind winning...' Zee, and, if Diana returns, Wonder Woman, will likely get more votes as rounds go on, just because the Satellite-era League was like, thirteen dudes and four women. (Which was still a huge upgrade from a 'classic' lineup of six dudes and one woman!)

Yeah, I boosted Zee's ranking last time as I sensed her dilemma. ironically, I thought Tora might end up in the most danger on my list, not Ted. So my vote this time is about redemption. Therefore, 150 points to Gryffin--er, I mean: 150 points to (Pre-Flashpoint) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord)!
