lol, thanks for the warm welcome everyone.....just getting used to forum first, but I do hope to be joining in some great conversations once I get used to it. The first minds I bend will be those of the people responsible for canceling my all time fave comic .....it will not be pretty.

Welcome to Legion World Mind Bender Boy. So, whose mind are you going to bend first? The name makes me think of Dr. Mindbender of G.I. Joe fame, but I'm probably offbase. AWOL again????

Hello, folks. I thought I'd stop by and introduce myself. My name is Dave Doty, and I've been an off-and-on LSH fan since I first picked up the last issue of Earthwar at the age of 7 way back in 1978. It's been more off than on in recent years, but the recent sad news had me feeling nostalgic.
It would be hard to nail down a specific favorite Legion. Some eras that had a particular impact on me: the late 70s/early 80s era that I only bought in single, random issues that caught my eye. These were my first introduction to the Legion, and still strongly inform my view of the team.
Obviously, the second Levitz run, although I wandered away somewhere after the Crisis.
The Giffen/Bierbaum era. Despite its many flaws, I still hold a fondness for it, especially the first year.
The first few years of the post-Zero Hour Legion. I think I quit with #100, when it had the bad luck to become something of a bloated franchise at a time when I was trying to scale back my budget.
The Waid/Kitson part of the Waid/Kitson Legion. This was the last time I followed the LSH regularly. While I don't think everything since was actively bad, none of it has really fired my imagination.
Forgive the long-winded introducion. I'm glad to be here. I have to admit, the maze of broken links and LSH webpages that haven't been updated in years before I found this site made me almost as sad as the cancellation news. I'm glad to know the fandom is still out there and kicking somewhere!

Welcome, Dave! It's good to meet someone else who has an appreciation for all eras of the Legion. Hope you have fun, and please hop on over to the Legion of Super-Heroes to talk about all those eras of the Legion!

Welcome, Dave! You got the Non-Legion Trivia question, by the way, so you're obligated to come up with a new one to mystify and confound us! Welcome to the fold, Dave! You'll like it here! We love our Legion! ....even if DC doesn't!

Hiya, Dave! Earthwar and the Giffen/Bierbaum era are two of my own favorites, as well - clearly you are a fellow of refined tastes. Welcome aboard the board, and I hope you enjoy yourself!

I think you all know who I am.
Power Boy and I are very very old friends. He was complaining about how much work he has leading you foo ... er ... in his role as leader of this "LMBP".
I decided ... er ... suggested he take some time off and even offered to lead .. er I mean ... join you fo ... <ahem> join YOU saving the galaxy from itself.
I am not one to waste time telling people about myself so we will just have to get to know each other in a way that is more natural to me.

So sorry for forgetting to introduce myself! I've already started a few threads too. I've been reading Legion for 25ish years. My first issue was the most confusing story to start with and it's amazing I kept with it. It was a story with Lightning Lad and the Luck Lords in the Baxter run. Totally not a starter issue lol. I had been reading X-men before that as many teenagers did at the time but I got so tired of the cliche's and other crap. I wanted another super team to try out. The owner of the comic shop suggested the Legion. I tried it out and fell in love. So romantic right? I immediately started getting the back issues of the Baxter run and then went back and back. The only time I stopped buying the Legion twice. Once because I hated what was happening, (5YL storyline). The second was due to hard times and could not justify buying comics I’m currently going through Legion withdrawal so I’m re-reading the post ZH series. Legion and Legion related titles were the ONLY comics I buy. I just don’t have the money for others. But while it’s on hiatus I’m getting Superman/Wonder Woman and Batman Beyond. BB is great BTW. It gives me my super hero sci-fi fix. Favorite characters are: Karate Kid, the Legion will always need a character that just puts a fist into the face. Timber Wolf, same reasons. Wildfire, I just always thought he looked cool. Phantom Girl Sensor Girl Chameleon Boy Characters I want back in the Legion: Dragonmage Kid Quantum Gear I’ve started a sort of Poll about this. Pick your top three. http://www.legionworld.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=795075#Post795075

Welcome to the boards where Devoted Friends of the Legion Talk It Out while others Don't Let Go of some threads. Why Wait to post, I say?
Thank you Paladin for infecting me with your Wang Chung vibes. Just read that they had been in a group with the vocalist from Heaven 17.
How could you dislike the 5YG? It's not as though anything happened to your top 6 favourites or anything.*
*Karate Kid - still dead, but came back as a zombie; Timber Wolf - Legion of super pets contender; Wildfire - killed before the relaunch, but later animated a corpse; Phantom Girl - "killed" before the relaunch, but popped up in the closing preboot panels.Cham - cranially ventilated by Roxxas; Sensor Girl - taken out effortlessly by the Red Terror gas.
"...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."

Welcome, WangLung! You have the same name as the main character from one of my all-time favorite books.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

Welcome, WangLung! I also want Kid Quantum II (Jazmin, not James) and Gear back, and would welcome Dragonmage too (being of Chinese ancestry myself; plus I think he's a better representative of Chinese culture than Dragonwing is!)
