And with Future's votes, we have our first contestant breaking 600 pts! (For those keeping score at home.)
Who?!?
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Awesome! With Future joining in, and assuming everyone else who's played keeps playing, this game will see more voters than either Multiverse Legion or Teen Titans! It does look like Future is a big JLI-era fan! I'm particularly worried about Katar, Ollie and even Dinah right now.
Dinah's in no danger right now, but it looks like Reddy, Ralph, Katar, Ray, and Zee all are! I honestly wouldn't mind losing some Satellite-era Leaguers so our list becomes more diverse. But from the above, I'm most concerned about Ralph and Zee. I honestly thought both would be safe, and left them off my list because of that.
I think someone like Bruce Wayne might be a dark horse. Getting just enough votes to stick around to the final rounds and then beating the other finalists.
That's how Kinetix and Kole won in previous editions. The last round is a simple majority vote, no more ranking, and with last round's stats it could still be anyone's game come the final round. As a recap - characters in terms of number of voters - J'Onn got 13, Dinah got 11, and Shayera and Zee both got 10.
There also seems to be some serious cutting of the characters like Nightwing and Donna Troy who have other books to shine in and weren't in JL a whole lot ... despite I think both being very well liked.
I do like them both, but their time with the JLA wasn't enough for me to really think of them as JLAers (esp. with so many other characters having much longer tenures and good JLA moments ) I took a gamble and bumped her figuring she'd get enough votes elsewhere, so I could throw some love to others who might need it more. Don't let me/us down, Peebz!!! THIS is how characters DIE. Aw, Lardy's feeling guilty enough already! But I'm sure all of us have done this at one time or another. Best example? Postboot Legion Idol, where fan fave Invisible Kid tied with Umbra and ended up being eliminated at 6th place!

But I picked Guy Gardner (horrors!) over Hal, Kyle and John. Especially the more stable Guy of the reborn GL Corps. His struggles with mental illness made him sympathetic. I liked Guy best when his opinions so clearly differed from the others. Not when he was nuts, but when his agenda was a lot more politically proactive than his team mates. It made a refreshing change, whether or not you agreed with it. I saw a similar thing with Katar and Ollie played out more. Agree. Angry violent Guy who broke Ted's ribs, big no no. But vocal, questioning Guy who could still be reasoned with, big yes! So, if you had to pick one best JLA moment for those remaining on the list, what would they be?
This is gonna be a loooooooooong post! I'll start with Kimiyo. Besides her COIE moments, which I'm sure we're all familiar with, there was the Annual where she single-handedly took out both Batman and Guy Gardner. Whoo! Exploit that ring's weakness to yellow, baby! I didn't like her becoming unsure of herself in JLE, but I did like her friendships with Kara, Maya and Wally and even Tora. Then there was a bright spot (no pun intended) during the Overmaster mess where she joins Captain Atom's splinter group. He gives her lip, and she returns the smack down by saying "I want to be more proactive, which is why I turned my back on a more intelligent leader like Wonder Woman to join you!" Oooh, BURN! Then she quickly takes command by pointing out his dubious decision to bring along a depowered Fire, and by recruiting former enemies Osiris and Seneca and picking up Maya and Lionheart. Go Kimi! Her post-Infinite Crisis appearance vs. Starbreaker was good too. She helps take him down after he turns into a, er, Sun-Eater (!?!), conquers her fear of the dark, and bonds with Jason Rusch (they had a weird friendship that was sort of... not big sister little bro, but more strict aunt- good nephew).

Yeah, he has jumped way past the other Trinity / Satellite-era Leaguers, which is kind of cool, since he's all sneaky that way. He's not the 'dark horse' I'm putting my money on, 'though. Actually, I'm waiting to see the last 10 or 5 or so, since I'm more interested in what sort of team they'd make, than the one person left standing at the end, 'cause I'm not terribly interested in solo acts.

I wonder how different our votes would be if we were trying to build a team, rather than on only having one winner. Although Bruce has been seeing a surge of votes, several others are appearing on more lists. I think those are the ones to watch. At the close of Round 3 I was expecting to see a Shayera vs. Dinah finale. Right now in Round 4 I'm still expecting that. But these Idol games are always so full of surprises...! And our finales always have 3 contestants left

And our finales always have 3 contestants left Neither are my final choices, but neither Dinah nor Shayera would at all disappoint me if they took it home! Others, I just vote for out of cussedness, since I know they won't win. Hence my Quixotic votes for Captain Comet and Etrigan.

Well, every extra round you get to keep them in is another round you can feel the pleasure of voting for them I would be pretty happy with a Dinah or Shayera win. Right now though I'd also be very pleased with a J'Onn win. I'm keeping an eye on Zee and Ronnie and Ralph too!

Hey, I didn't vote for him either. I think you and I were the only ones to ever express disdain for the Legion's Wesley Crusher (I think it was you who made that comparison) Before his elimination though, Invisible Kid had a string of 4 or 5 first rank finishes. I still remember everyone's sheer surprise when he got bumped off. (Speaking of, the actual American Idol show is also known for some surprising 6th place eliminations!) To be fair, he did become more likable during the Team 20/30 split.

I'm surprised Angdar Fel hasn't popped in to vote for someone. I'm bummed Black Canary JLU toon got booted so soon, she kicked all kinds of butt in that show.

Ten voters so far this round, with quite different tastes, so it's pretty neat how things are landing.

What did Captain Comet do in the League? I must have missed out on that. All I remember are some references to 1970s super villain comics for him perhaps meeting the JLA?
I read a Comic Book Marketplace article on him years ago, before Kingdom Come. He had a huge array of powers. Perhaps with Comet & Manhunter, they didn't know what worked any more so they gave them everything.

I think Captain Comet was a member at the same time as Starfire, but I barely remember. I just like the guy. He does have a crap load of powers, but he was introduced with the intention of eventually having to survive a fight with the entire Secret Society of Super-Villains (which, at the time, included powerhouses like Sinestro, Grodd and Bizarro), so, yeah, he's pretty crazy.

I have no idea about his tenure in the JLA, but Captain Comet is certainly a groovy character!
He was pretty much the only major DC superhero introduced during the Atomic Age, which in itself makes him kind of awesome! Then he pretty much skipped the Silver Age, only to be reintroduced in the Bronze Age!

He was an honorary member during his time infiltrating the Secret Society of Super-villains. He even lived on the JLA Satellite for a while (according to wikipedia, I have yet to read the SSoSV series myself).

Hmm... I read the SSoSV series, and don't remember his being an honorary member!

I haven't read SSoSV since I bought them off the spinner rack in the pharmacy or supermarket, so I only vaguely remember Captain Comet being accepted as a hero, later, but not whether or not the JLA was involved (I guess they would have had to be, it was pre-Outsiders, Titans, etc. I think the JLA was the only game in town, on Earth 1!).

ooo Captain Comet has some fishy JLA credentials ... scandal has reached the game! I love Captain Comet personally. If he wasn't in the League he shoulda been!

Among the reason I'm really annoyed at DC these days: they solicited a Captain Comet Archives a year ago, and it seems to have completely vanished (much like Captain Comet himself did for twenty years!)
