Does anyone else have a sneaky suspicion that what we are seeing in the Seven Soldiers minis is the DCU after the events in Infinite Crisis?
Note the rebooted characters like Guardian and Mister Miracle and the fact that Zee suddenly lost her powers (presumably from using them unwisely) in her own mini.
What I'm not sure is if this was the plan all along or was just a coincedence. I'm thinking the latter after the hints Morrisson has dropped about the series in recent interviews.
Any thoughts?

Hmmmmm. sounds like a very plausible theory. We will have to wait and see.

Certainly possible, though I suspect that Morrisson was given free rein and the world in the 7 Soldiers minis is what he would do to the DCU if he were in charge of Infinite Crisis. The two of course are not necessarily the same.

LOL! I can't type worth a darn on a good day...
I'm in the minority here but the only one I've really care anything about is Zatanna's. I started reading them but stopped getting them in my pulls.
The stories just seem too fragmented to me.

I agree with that more or less. I've liked the Guardian and Zatanna minis, but at this point I've decided to get them in trades after the whole event is over. I think this is one you have to read in a short timespan to understand the gestalt of what Morrison's doing.

One of my friends insists this is true. The only problem is that Shining Knight is definitely not supposed to be the one we remember from the All-Star Squadron. That was verified in #3. Maybe the Phantom Stranger will explain some things when we see him in Zatanna #3.

This is true and as a fan of the Golden Age heroes (and the Sqaudron) it bugs me to no end. Then again, the Legion isn't what we once knew either, so who's to say?

Bump for Zatanna #3.
Well, based on Zee's comment during this issue, it certainly looks like this is after Infinite Crisis. She even made mention of the mindwipes...

Yeah, which was kind of cool. I picked up on that one right away. I actually suspected Zatanna's loss of powers were purely psychological based on guilt. I thought I'd posted that idea here, but I guess I must have been talking to someone about it.

I read issue #3 today and it was very interesting that she mentioned several things she had done in her past that she was not proud of and how it has caused her problems. Looking forward to see how the first set of mini's wrap up. What soilder is going to die?

I hope Zee regains a bolstered self-image after 7 Soldiers or IC. I don't think a 'darkened' Zatanna is a very good thing. There should be a couple of 'fun' personalities in comics. Not that her life's been peaches and cream up till now.
She's essentially her breezy self, here-- with some moments of self-flagellation.
Did anyone notice the mention of a '31st century telepathic savant'-- or something close? To what-- or who-- might that be referring, hmm?
And the Time Tailor or Tailor of Time... further 'hmms'...

31st century telepathic savant - I noticed that and wondered if it could it be an older Imra Ardeen? She's a bit young in the Legion series to have earned the "savant" moniker, but maybe the writer had something else in mind for the term. Dr. Aven?
Or maybe someone we haven't met yet, since the telepathic person will have to have been killed...

I keep meaning to pick up the Zatanna issue of this series but forget. I read #1 and actually enjoyed it. I glanced through the others Soldier books but none of them really grabbed me. If DC is going to collect this one, though, I'll definitely get it.

IMO, though I think I may be in the minority, Seven Soldiers is the *BEST* thing going at DC today! And this is coming from someone who doesn't even like Grant Morrison!
I'm really surprised at how much I've been loving these series'. I wasn't even going to collect any but so far there hasn't been a single issue that I haven't enjoyed immensely! And Zatanna is the best of the lot!

I love Grant Morrison and I love this string of minis. I really enjoyed the latest issue of Klarion and I can't wait to find out what's going on in the last issue of Guardian. It's good stuff, you can see connections between the books, and I'm pretty sure it's post-IC.

Or maybe someone we haven't met yet, since the telepathic person will have to have been killed... It could also be the likes of Saturn Queen or Esper Lass. I'm not sure where Esper Lass falls in the power range, but I thought Saturn Queen was supposed to be pretty powerful.

I thought immediately of Imra too, Todd.
Blacula and others, I agree that these comics are absolutely brillant right now. Zatanna is the best of the lot, Klarion falls into 'genius' category and Guardian totally shocked me by how interesting and fascinating it has been. I can't wait for more of these--all very excellent.

SHINING KNIGHT #4 is out... with a development I certainly didn't see coming! I'm not sure what I think about it.

It was very interesting, but I guess it shows us very clearly that this Sir Justin is the same as the Shining Knight of old. Or is it? Give your code name, Mystery Lad, I'd think this sort of thing would be old hat to you.

i have to admit - so far, this bunch of mini series has been an utter joy to read ... wish the scheduling was a little more consistent but there's a lot going on at DC, i suppose
7 soldiers is a great corner of the DCU and i hope that they keep it going , ever after their infinite crises and such

Umm... maybe I have to read the end of it again but did anyone actually understand what the heck happened in the last issue of Shining Knight? I got the twist about Justin but the aqctually plot.... nope, clueless. I think maybe I have to re-read all four issues and see how it works. I'm also a little confused about how this issue fits in in relation to #3 of Zatanna, but again i might have to re-read that to see.
Oh, but I did like the little revelation about Mr Melmouth from Klarion in this last issue of Shining Knight.

The Shining Knight in Morrison's Seven Soldiers was actually born BEFORE Sir Justin and lived around 81 BC. His name was Ystin.
Seven Soldiers actually took place a week before Infinite Crisis.
Klarion here is supposed to be before his actual debut messing with Etrigan.
The villain in Zatanna's arc, Zor, was supposedly an old Spectre villain from the Golden Age and possibly revised as a dig at Alan Moore.

Okay, so, Seven Soldiers was one of the first comics I ever really got into, all the way back in 2005. I just don't talk about it as much as I should.
My favorite minis from this series were Klarion and Bulleteer, and I absolutely loved the characters in the zero issue. I always hated that most of them died at the end, and I'm disappointed that I have no sketches of any of the Seven Soldiers characters.
