I have to wear one of those Pedometers for my insurance because I am considered obese...whatever.
Started on Jan 1, and here are my stats as of right now:
Requirement of 5000 steps a day.
Daily average: 10,132 steps
Required average for the rest of the quarter: 3,805 steps
Should note that my quarter does end on March 31st, which is my Birthday,

I'm back on the diet circuit now after almost 2 years of neglect. Before I got pregnant I had just lost 30 or so pounds (I was on a shakes and healthy meal/snack mealplan, mixed with a super physical job).
Of course, having the kid and now being a stay at home mom, I've realized I have to make some serious changes. It's not that I eat terribly, I am just lazy. I'm having a super hard time getting the motivation to start with a real exercise plan. I'm doing alright with the nutrition part of my life now, I just can't seem to find the time or energy to get into anything physical (I've got a SUPER active 1 1/2 year old who doesn't stop all day, and still doesn't sleep through the night. She wakes up at least 2 - 3 times per night needing consoling/bottle/pacifier).
We live almost an hour away from the nearest gym and with the roads being treacherous for most of the winter, that option is out... any advice or suggestions? (Other than to tell me to get off my butt and go for a walk or something? lol). I'm thinking about ordering a video set (like P90x or something) or grabbing a Kinect game (Biggest loser maybe?)
Well, when one's lost, I suppose it's good advice to stay where you are until someone finds you. But who'd ever think to look for me here?

Do you have a Wii? A lot of Wii games like Wii Sports get you moving and are fun at the same time, so it won't feel like work when you do work out. Another plus is that as your child gets older, she can play with those games too

Down about 20 pounds... eating right and exercising... following "Body for Life" program... plus something new -- meditation... helps keep me on track somehow...
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

Not been doing so well lately. Long hours have got me sleeping irregularly and poorly, and too tired to hit the weights when I get home.
Also been getting distracted and forgetful. Ugh, I really need to fix my sleeping habits.

As one might ascertain from my long absence from this thread, I gained all the weight back over the last few years. I got all the way up to 241 as of a doctor's visit in May. After that visit and how my wife and sons were there to witness it, I resolved to get back on that horse and do what needs to be done, so that my family will have their husband and father for a long time to come. Anyhow, I've worked mostly on improving my diet the past few weeks and am down to 232.8 lbs. I'd call it a good start, but I've a long way to go. I'd gotten in the habit of going to Wendy's every day for my lunch break at work. That five-day-a-week habit is now gone. My lunch is now a six-inch sub and 2 bananas. It seems to be working to this point, I'd say. I'm eating smaller portions for dinner at home and regularly having some vanilla yogurt for dessert. I need all the positive energy/support/prayers you guys can spare. It'll be tougher this time than it was last time when I got under 210 lbs. Not only because I ultimately failed, but also because the bad left knee I now have will make exercising more difficult. I have a small favor to ask you gus: please call me out on this thread if you haven't had an update from me in at least a week. I think that would help me more than anything else you could possibly do to help me. Thanks so much in advance, guys!

I am trying to .... walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk ... and walk some more. ... I am not very good on cutting back on eating. I don't eat a whole lot but what I eat is ... delicious ... I mean ... not low calorie. anyway Paladin: let's kick this shit old school style! btw I abhor scales ... I have an especially vicious/non sensical one here ... I've lost thirty pounds in one day and now it says I weigh a ton.

Here's to you, Lardy and Peebz! We're all in this together.
After a 4-month stretch of major overtime at work, I've finally made it past the worst of it. Now I'm back to working out 3-4 times a week (with 6 times being my goal); the reduced stress has also given me more energy to actively control my diet by eating more fruits, veggies and less pizza, red meat and junk food.

work is killing me too. I'm so busy running around I am tired ... too tired to do extra curricular exercise. and often i am at my desk ... which not only isn't exercise but it gives you a gut ... due to something or other due to sitting so long. so i try to be active on the weekends. but gyms are SO boring. i havent even had time to go .. to the frickin grocery store so i can get some break fast food instead of buying a banana for a dollar (!) at starbucks in the morning! I am too lazy to get up and weigh myself on my psychotic scale ... pssttt Paladin: I am 244. The most I have ever weighed.

I hate going to the gym too. I like woorking out, but only at home - I get lazy wehn I think about packing a bag, dressing up, heading to a crowded gym and waiting in line for machines.
The exception is going to the pool, but then I don't have a choice. And swimming gives me a high.
I can't believe sitting at a laptop all day can be so tiring. It must be because of all the brain work!

going to the gym always seems like such a production just to get there. the time and the changing and ... the people. i like walking or playing a sport ... i do martial arts sometimes ... i am going to look into fencing maybe ... and i used to play softball but it is seasonal.
but i also travel a lot .. so walking or running is really the only thing i ca do consistently.

I clicked on the link thinking it was nice that people were supporting someone from Germany. Which says a lot about my sleeping & eating habits. Nice to see this thread here. I could do with having a more regular & balanced diet myself.

I am in the reverse situation of most people here. Last Dec/Jan I experienced some illness and dropped quite a bit of weight (down to 170lbs when I am normally around 205) I've been trying since then to get back up to a healthy weight for me but cannot break 180. For the past 7 or 8 months I've been hoovering up 8000 to 9000 calories a day to no effect. At a loss, don't know what else I can do.

Cle, yeah due to the nature of my work I get checked out on a pretty regular basis, nothing wrong they can find other than not being able to gain weight
Its actually kind of funny in a way, some of my fellow geeks at work have taken to calling me a hobbit because i have a first breakfast and a second breakfast then a first lunch and then a second lunch

VL, if you think they've checked for all the logical stuff (thyroid issues, et al) and you feel good overall, hopefully it's not a real problem.
You aren't continuing to lose weight now, right?

Could your metabolism just be hovering at a really high level? Although it sounds like you don't have any other symptoms other than not being able to gain weight?

I haven't been on a diet per se, but I've lost down to about 218lbs. because of my diabetes medicine. Well, that and the fact that I've been workin' mah butt off and not eating that much. I know I should feel better, but instead I feel...insubstantial. I don't like it. I'm better at around 230-240.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!
Something pithy!
