First off, I'm sorry I've become mainly a lurker. I do enjoy checking in, but the desire to post is in one of the waning phases. It's nothing personal. I've been kind of ambivalent about my APAs lately, too, as I try to figure out how to spend my shrinking amount of free time.

Blah, blah, blah. Whine, whine, whine.

That being said, I thought you might enjoy these pics from C2E2. As a reward to myself for losing weight, I commissioned a brand-new Color Kid costume from a friend in Chicago to wear to C2E2.

There was supposed to be a small group, but there wound up being just two of us. The guy who made my costume was working on a Tellus for himself, but he didn't finish it in time. I don't know what happened to the other people. They were friends from Dragon Con, and I've never met them.

The hair didn't turn out the way I'd hoped. It's more big anime hair, but they guy who styled it for me said he couldn't cut it back without ruining it. It does have the peaks in back, but they don't show up in these pics. What you also can't see are my color-changing thumbs (an LED magic trick I found online so I could show at least a bit of my power).

It was fun watching people try to figure out who I was, but the best part was the compliments from Legion fans who said they never thought they'd see a Color Kid walking around a convention. Maybe one year I'll take it down to Dragon Con, but the idea of Atlanta in August is a real turn-off because I'm such a heat wimp.

So without further ado, here are Color Kid and Cosmic Boy.

And as part of the DC group shot.

Awesome, man!

I'll always remember one of my favorite cosplay encounters - at SDCC in 2008 when that dude in that sweet Starboy costume (complete with beard) sat down next to me in the Bierbaum panel looking like he had just stepped off a comic page. Hmmm... I wonder whatever happened to that dude. wink

That's crazy that your tailor was actually making a Tellus costume... apart from just stationary sitting, I can't even fathom how that could work.

Ex: He did a Gates costume about 17 years ago that was pretty awesome, so I have no doubt he can pull it off. He'll probably have it ready for Dragon Con, so I'll keep an eye out and post.

A Gates costume? Wow! I'd love to see that. Googling...

Any chance he's the guy in this picture?

Yup, that's him. I hung out with that group as Starboy, my first costume, but it was the classic starfield. They were all friends and were doing reboot, but were nice enough to let me pose with them -- just not in that picture, apparently. smile

Then this must be you! You make a great Star Boy, SS!

And that Gates costume rocks.

Here's the full page with all the pics from the con.
