Yay.

Sure, I have lots to complain about but none of it negates the fact that I still love reading a good Legion comic. We can be very critical of DC editors/management and they often deserve it. However, they have continued to give us the Legion in some shape or form for a long time. My life is better for it. The regular artists, Kitson, Calero, and Manapul all did stellar jobs.

I'll give it a Yay...

The artwork was one of the great runs in all of Legion history IMHO...I rate the Kitson Manapul tandem only behind Cockrum Grell and maybe Giffen Lightle. It was pretty good...I really liked Kitson's covers and Manapul's version of the future was probably the best since Giffen redefined the look.

Storywise, it was strong in some ways but weak in others. Something else else happened to Mark Waid about 12 issues in and the storylines just slowed to a snail's pace. I don't know if it's because he was working on 52 or what...but the pace was too slow. Shooter's run I quite enjoyed, unfortunately by then the Action Legion was back and the one that most resembles the Pre Crisis Legion will always be my favorite, so the 3boot basically became an afterthought to me at that point(though I read it to the end and enjoyed it for the most part).

I give it a yay because it was probably my favorite Post Crisis Legion, and the art was just about always good.

Enjoyed Shooter's run (except for the horrid #50) and the artwork of Kitson and Manapul, but overall I'd have to say NAY.

YAY to some Waid initial ideas and characterizations as well as the artwork of both Kitson and Manapul (excellent), but that's all.
As a whole I have to vote NAY.

Nay. After reading issue # 2, I thought we were watching genius in the making. However, that was the only example of said genius I would see until the series ended.

Nay to Waids first 16 or so issues. Eat it Grandpa? What a piece of junk!

Okay to Waids Dominators storyline. Kind of liked it, though characterization was still in the gutters, there was actually something happening - at last - and the ending was even kind of cool.

Okay to Bedards short run. It had a certain feel of change that I wildly appreciated.

Yay to most of the Shooter run - except the ending. The storyline made a lot of sense - though staying unfinished after the botched #50 - and characterization was a lot of fun, finally. It also had a sense of consistency Waids run lacked. When people went to another planet, it actually meant they were there one issue later. Shooter made me like this run which I thought was a stillbirth from #1.

All in all, I'm still wondering why there had to be another Reboot, considering most of the stories - or in Waids case, mostly non-stories - could have been told in the Reboot universe as well.

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yay.

WaK's overall vision for the universe, but a resounding Nay to many of the details.

Yay to all three regular artists. Barry has become one of my favorite people in the world through his artwork, his interaction on this board and his kindness at the Baltimore comic con in 2006. Calero's work was personally satisfying, although I know it wasn't to everyone's liking. Manupal had flashes of brilliance, though I don't think Legion was the right place to show off his talents. He is someone who's art I will seek out.

Nay to pretty much everything Waid came up with.

half Nay/half yay for Kitson since I liked his art but hated alot of his new cotumes.

Yay for Bedard's story

big NAY to Callero since that was just some flat out ugly art

Yay to Shooter and Manapul

Over all have to give it a Nay since even though I did like some of what came after Waid his horrible set up pretty tainted everyhting after he left.

Overall: Bah.

The initial issues were good until Dream Girl died.

The Bedard/Calero issues were good but we were misled to believe they set up Shooter's run. Where were Wildfire and Tenzil in Shooter's run?

After the initial excitement over Shooter's return subsided, we were left with a story that took to long to get rolling and culminated in an issue that I have vowed to not buy (# 50). Too much "backstage" drama during this run.

Luckily, the art has been generally excellent, from Kitson to Calero to Manupul.

Generally I'm of the opinion that 52 and Final Crisis dealt deathly blows to the quality of this run. Too much running around trying to force square pegs into round holes.

There were some good points, but at the end I find that I didn't care enough about it.

NAY.

But but...I'm specifically waiting on your review of the infamous ish #50 to see whether you rate it as so bad it's good or just bad.

I personally think it's going to be the sought after issue of the entire run.

Nay.

I was a big nay sayer of any Legion besides the one I love. But DnA finally won me over with their last legion series and Shooter won me over with his run.

With that said neither of those Legions excited as much as the Legion that recently appeared in Action Comics and now in LO3Worlds.

yay. all things considered. some stuff at the end was horrible, but that's was only a small percentage of it and there was super hot art to counteract it and it died shortly after.

it gave me things i deeply love like a new querl and a cool dream girl. a cool, fighty salu, a nerdy baby-lyle, a slick dynamic between cos and brainiac 5, supergirl + the legion, mute saturn girl, some sort of LARP game!!, goats in the lab, tenzil biting off a finger, teleportation device that makes you throw up, slick new uniforms (x2), AA star boy, a better understanding of what the legion means in relation to the world they exist in, what sort of symbol they represent and an interesting take on youth fetish and superhero fetish. superheroes that have frigging spinner racks? come on, that's awesome.

very much a product of the time period it was written in and an interesting update.

hahaha how could i say "nay" to legion? it's legion!

Given a choice between an ongoing Legion title, and the *possibility* of a few backup stories in Adventure, YAY to the ongoing title.

Given a choice between a Legion that is new and different, and makes no pretenses of being the old team, and a team that *claims* to be the 'original team' but has Wildfire-as-Red-Tornado and various other retcons, YAY to the fresh new look.

I didn't love everything that Waid did, but then again, I haven't loved everything *any* creator has added to the team. 'My generation' had lame characters like Quislet and Comet Queen in it, for instance, as well as horribibble plot twists like Laurel Kent-as-Manhunter-assassin, so I can't really ride that high horse comfortably. smile
