Karma tongue Agree though, the early Legion issues had the Legionnaires be unreasonably harsh to poor applicants.

XS rocks!

Perhaps the blatant sexism made you forget Adventure 313?

It's well known that all genders possess cooties making them incompatible. The ladies knew this which is why they faked a crimson plague just so they could get away.

But no, it's not this issue.

Adventure 310. If you don't have any memory of a story where the entire Legion (except Superboy of course, because he's speeeeeeecial) dies, you probably really haven't read it before!

That the one! You can imagine my initial shock at the first casualty. But I just thought it would be a quick revival. Then the bodies really start piling up!

Never mind dark Legion stories decades later, this one takes out the entire team in novel, disturbing ways.

I must have read the synopsis in the Legion index and I remembered the villains name, but they didn't do the story justice.

Over to you Ibby!

I totally agree with you there! It's one thing to read that the entire Legion dies in some synopsis, but quite another to actually see them being murdered one by one. Being turned to stone, getting electrocuted, poison gas, random explosions, gigantic meteors... And most of them don't die in battle. Whew! Mr. Mxyzptlk was hardly ever that vicious.

Let's see...

I just made a list of my top 12 favorite Postboot Legionnaires. Which two did not make the cut?

1) Kinetix
2) Brainiac 5
3) Live Wire
4) XS
5) Gates
6) Saturn Girl
7) Apparition
8) Triad
9) Wildfire
10) Umbra
11) Chameleon
12) Monstress

Eliminating some choices:

Brainy is easily one of my favorite Postboot Legionnaires, though he didn't get that status until after DNA came along and struck a nice balance between his intellectual snobbishness and his compassion for his friends.

Violet had been a favorite even before the DNA period. I enjoyed reading her shy-yet-tough personality and her struggle with the Emerald Eye.

I was trying to pick off the ones I'd read some negative commentary about. Vi as Leviathan, Brainy as an ass (Dirk on leave?), Monstress (just generally until DnA) & Kid Q (in The Legion). So much for that plan.

Saturn Girl and Umbra.

Although Saturn Girl spent a lot of time whining about her powers and her lack of a relationship, and was one of the top contenders for dubious distinction of panel hog, I still liked her enough to include her in my top 12.

I think most, if not all, of the Postboot Legionnaires had their negative spells. I can think of aspects of each that I didn't like, but still ended up liking them all on average. Except Kid Quantum I, who was created to die and was given a very obnoxious personality!

Apparition - who wasn't even there really in the issues I've read.

Cham - who had a different personality to the one I knew.

Although there was a brief spell where Tinya was annoying (always whining about being an intangible spirit - though it's understandable) she had a very strong start in the Postboot and I did like DNA's portrayal of her.

Cham became a favorite after Legion Lost. Though he's arguably one of the team's most alien, I somehow found him one of the most relatable (and fun!).

I'll come out and say it - DNA's writing made me a huge fan of Monstress. I cried when she died, and though it was well-written I've always been sorry that she died.

You mean I was supposed to get them both right? together? at the same time? simultaneously? without cheating with a time bubble? With my track record? It would need three of me for that many guesses....hey, there's an idea...

Triad - something to do with personality changes in post boot?
Kid Q Two - apparently became a pain when made leader?

Eh, you'll get there eventually smile

Some people say Kid Q II became a pain, but I didn't agree. Yeah, maybe she showed up a little too much but then she WAS leader...

I never really liked Wildfire all that much Preboot, but I thought the Postboot version was very refreshing. He was still brash, but a lot less cocky and arrogant. So, Wildfire is definitely in my top 12.

I think most of you guys know me quite well. Three of the names on this list haven't been guessed yet wink

Let's cross off a couple of (obviously wrong) names:
