I really can't. When the LSH was around I never bothered to worry about all those little things that stick in your mind about LSH, like that question of the Emerald Eye and Kryptonite that sat in my head for nearly 50 years.

but of course it does not stop there.

As long as the comic existed I felt there was no point in clarifying things as they were always going to change anyway.

But that has now stopped ... we have what we have and it looks like that may be it, ...

so time to open boxes of never read LSH (my non comic years from 1968 to 1982) and enjoy LSH all over again

thanks to all that have made this such a wonderful resource

Love what you have all done ..thank you !!!

I had not bought a comic in over 10 years although I saw a Grell Legion issue in a publishing warehouse in around 1975.

Back in the pre 80s comics were only sold in Australia at Newsagents, and they were very patchy in supply. When I was a kid there was only one Newsagent I knew of that carried the JLA annuals each year, was a round trip of 1 hour plus to buy one comic.

Walked into my first comic store in around 1981-1982, think it was first in Sydney, cheap rent, bad smell and comics everywhere. I saw Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl getting married and Infantino back on Flash.

Came back a few times and started reading again.

I have wondered if I had come into that shop two years before and saw Ditko drawing the Legion. Somehow I don't think I would have started again.

After that I have always have kind thoughts about Giffen .. despite what would appear to be his best attempts to blow up his own career

It was having this version of the Legion stop that got me to dig out my old boxes of Legion comics. Which got me looking for a website. That lead me here a few months ago. I imagine I had a similar first impression to Terry.

And the rest, as they say, is painful. Although I do seem to remember seeing this site before, but not taking a closer look on a few occasions a long time ago.

I especially enjoy how he never came back. He didn't let rejection turn him into a super villain.

He's the largest minority shareholder in Brande Industries. No really.

Are you sure? SOMEONE had to be bankrolling all of Storm Boy's operations... wink

It's too bad the writers never thought of him going Seto Kaiba and buying the team he wanted to be a part of. It would be great drama if the Legionnaires would have to choose between values and monetary gain.

I quite like the idea that the person who couldn't buy their way into the Legion, now has a major stake in the company that bankrolls it every time the UP has a hissy fit.

Has Spiffany grown or is it just more likely that he saw the huge mining opportunities as part of Brande starbirthing operations?

There's actually nothing illogical about the Emerald Eye being weakened by Kryptonite, as long as you don't think of it as "Kryptonite is only supposed to do anything in stories about Kryptonians". It's a substance, it does whatever it does. Nobody thinks "Isn't it strange? You can buy cheddar cheese here and use it in recipes which have absolutely no connection with Cheddar, England!"

It's not that the Eye gets weak from Kryptonite. It's that it fires Kryptonite rays itself. So it has a power that weakens itself.
