Announced at NYCC: ALL-NEW X-FACTOR, still written by Peter David. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/10...eter-david-and-carmine-adi-giandomenico/A Google-type corporation has bought the name from Madrox and is putting together their own superhero team. Out of six members, three have been announced: Polaris (Yes!), Quicksilver (YES!), and...uh...Gambit. I'll give anything PAD writes a fair chance. I'm in for the first arc at least.

I hope you're right, Cobie. I think Gambit is one of those characters that works best, if at all, when writers don't try to reconcile all the continuity. PAD took some flak early on in the last X-Factor run for ignoring certain continuity aspects of some characters. I had no problem with it then, and I'd certainly have no problem if he did it now.
What I really hope is that people who heard good things about the last X-Factor run but didn't find it accessible will take advantage of this opportunity to get in on the ground floor.

I am guessing from the cover Wolfsbane and Cypher are in the mix.

Of them, Cypher is probably my favorite, although Danger has untapped potential as a newer creation.
Still, it's Peter David. I never expected to have any interest in Strong Guy, Rictor, Darwin or Layla Miller, and he proved me wrong on those counts.

Yeah, back when the last X-Factor started, I had no idea who Monet was, but Peter David turned her into my favorite team member.
And like Cobie and I discussed earlier in this thread, maybe Peter David will even find a way to make Gambit work.

Warlock and Cypher have me interested. QS as well...I love the way Peter writes him.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

The lineup really has me skeptical--more so than any prior X-Factor even--but I'll trust in PAD.
Like Fanfie says, a PAD-written Gambit could end up the best mutant in the MU.

Yay Lash! Welcome aboard the X-Factor train.
Dev, I do, too. Pietro's session with Doc Samson is a classic.
Cobie, funnily enough, I've been re-reading some early 90s X-Men and Gambit is so annoying. PAD has his work cut out for him, but I, too, trust in him.

I might have to check this out. I like Gambit very much.

The more the merrier, Emily!
And I'd be interested to know why you like Gambit. It's always refreshing to see a different perspective.

PAD better write the HIZZ-NELL outta this, because looking at the new X-Factor uniforms made my retinas detach in horror. Awful.

Much like Set, David is a good enough writer that there's a certain quality level set in the book, in spite of the characters he has in it.
I say "in spite" as I've been interested in so few of them. In fact, if I had to pick characters I had least interest in/found irritating they would probably have popped up in a X-Factor book at some point.
Layla Miller, Strong Guy, Quicksilver, Gambit. The last time I remember Cypher he was still dead and Danger was a better villain for me.
I doubt I'll pick this up, but there are any number of poorer books out there.

I was disappointed by the first issue. PAD needed to deliver something jaw-droppingly good, and in my opinion, he didn't. It's PAD-by-numbers: a few chuckles, a decent premise, and some nice character bits, but it doesn't add up to much. It really seems like all creators let us down eventually.

I saw it today and thumbed through it. Loved the art, but I put in in my hold bag while I await reviews. Yours is the first I've seen so far, so this bodes ill for me ever taking it home.
In my opinion, it's been quite some time since PAD delivered " something jaw-droppingly good". (I mean long before the stroke, btw...like maybe as far back as the first half of his Supergirl.) I hope he proves me wrong again , either here or in another project.

In fact, when All-New X-Factor was announced, I was skeptical from the get-go. Even though the concept and characters were different, I'd rather he had chosen something totally divorced from X-Factor for his next gig.

I respect your opinion, but I think Young Justice, Fallen Angel, and the first couple years of the previous X-Factor all had many awesome moments.

But among those that I have, while some were "very" good, none were what I'd call "jaw-droppingly" good.

Contrarily, a Newsarama reviewer gave the first issue an 8 out of 10 in a very enthusiastic write-up. Find the review toward the bottom of this article. The latest Buy Pile has it listed under "Honorable Mentions".

After years of X-Factor, which I picked up on the heels of PAD's Madrox mini-series, I think they've finally lost me.
I've never been a Polaris fan (or Havok, for that matter, my favorite thing about Polaris being her Cockrum-designed costume, which she no longer wears), and can only take Quicksilver in small doses. In fact, Cypher is the only character I even like, in this lineup, and, by himself, he's not enough to draw me in.
Madrox, Monet, Rahne and, to my surprise, since I expected to dislike her, Layla, as well as later additions, Shatterstar and Rictor, are pretty much who I was reading X-Factor for, and they are all gone.

But I do think that anyone who likes PAD and/or the DC universe before the Didiot took over should read the entire run of Young Justice.
