Hi,
I'm thoth-clone and I take exception to the last post. It's this type of clonophobia that is preventing DC and it's owners from having the perfect captive audience. An audience it can make in vats to then go out and buy it's products. The other clones are also upset. We all think alike. Always. We have seen the future and it is one where we are made.
Having read the preview, the art is decent. The story seems a little ordinary, but accessible. I wasn't too intrigued by the deliberate vagueness of some plot threads. Oh dear. Cadmus...again. Good to see DC still mining Kirby.

Hey, look how awesome and successful that clone stuff was for Spider-Man! And when Nightcrawler turned out to have dozens of Azazel-spawn siblings? Whoo!
DC is just trying to tap into the best of Marvel's greatest hits, and make their own Clone Saga!

I think I skipped that decade form Marvel. Looks like I may be skipping the next one from DC.

To me, it would have been more interesting if they were taken out of a moment of time by the Time Trapper and Really where the Justice League. Maybe from an alternate timeline or something, but NOT clones. Clones are so over done to me. Sort of like the SW6 Legion.

I think I read an interview where the creators were anticipating the groans on the reveal of them being clones, but said that the readers should bear with them. It's possible that those groans were in amongst the groans of the Legion cancellation or Giffen getting another shot at something doomed to failure or yet another JLA knock off or yet another NuDC launch to keep the number of title up or yet another Giffen attempt to imitate Kirby or ... The whole quote was possibly back when it was the amazing DeMatteis/Giffen/Maguire line up rather than the hastily shoved together DeMatteis/Giffen/Porter line up. So add another DC 11th hour change of approach to the list

Hm, I said goodbye to this project the moment Porter was designated the regular artist instead of Maguire... but the Preview looks rather okay to me, obviously it helps when he's inking himself? He still has a serious problem with faces, he always did have even back on his JLA stint. But the backgrounds and design are looking quite decent, rich, interesting.
Until the big splash page is coming, that I find rather hideous...
But like many here I sincerely doubt this project will survive its second birthday...

Since I imagine that the original creative line up had the cast bicker constantly. I wonder just how far they've had to change it to fit the new artist. If they haven't changed it, I wonder how well it will work with Porter.
I type "wonder" but not in any way strong enough to buy it.

I elected to try this series, at least for a few issues, to see what may happen. First impressions are, as one Worlder appropriately stated earlier, underwhelming. Dystopian crappy future (ugh!), scratchy artwork style, and obnoxious 'hero' qualities (especially from the Trinity) led to this issue being just another alternate JLA story which held little interest for me. In fairness, I'll give it a few more tries because it's tough to get an ongoing series rolling in a single issue, but a grumpy Batman, crazy Wonder Woman, and self-serving Superman have little appeal to this consumer.

I think I read the Forever Evil link, but I'm fairly sure the date on that article goes much further back. Having not touched Forever Evil, I've no idea.
Is there much Giffen/Dematties banter in there? Grumpy Batman sounds familiar. Going by the Superman comment in the preview, something was wrong with their personalities. Will the title last long enough for something more heroic to emerge or will they always remain jerks?
Too scared to google threshold...

I think I will wait until the trade paperback. I am a bit uncertain if this title will last long.

JUSTICE LEAGUE 3000 #5
Having learned of DC editorial, the five heroes have committed suicide. But that won't stop DC as a new batch of clones is produced. "We'll get it right if it takes us a thousand years," they are heard cackling as they descend into their hibernation tanks.

That thought occurred to me as I flipped thru the book at the comic shop (didn't buy it). Somehow, they looked and acted like the CSA to me. We'll see.....

If the odd personalities are endearing enough, a la the very early JL issues in the 1980s, then reader empathy may not be an issue. If they are utter clowns with few redeeming features...well the Invisibles is a good example of a book being redirected when it's central character is utterly disliked.

Where's Cary Bates when you need him? I wonder which characters' speech patterns would be patterned after his this time?

I also didn't think to smash a hammer on my head or set my penis on fire. Might be easier the other way around (just trying to be helpful).
First comic books ever bought: A DC four-for-47-cents grab bag that included Adventure #331. The rest is history.
