Below are characters that could possibly come back. They are possibly dead in other universes but not in this one and they have no duplicate in the current universe, like Dawnstar-Shikari, or Sensor-Projectra. If people want to vote for their top three I can try to keep a tab on the number. I'm sure I missed someone so I'll add them if you want.

Of the characters from other universes I’d like back I would choose: Dragonmage, Gear, Kid Quantum

Original
Anti-Lad 1

SW6
April Dumaka (Catspaw) 1
Tao Jin (Dragonmage) 2
Danielle Foccart (Computo II) 4

5year gap
Sussa Paka (Spider Girl, Wave) 1
Britta An'nan (Kono) 2
Devlin O'Ryan (Reflex)
Richard Kent Shakespeare (Impulse) 2
Celeste McCauley (Celeste Rockfish, Neon)
Blood Claw
Firefist
Flederweb
Veilmist 1
Andromeda (Laurel Gand) Also a part of Zero Hour 4

Zero Hour
Kinetix (Zoe Saugin)1
Monstress (Candi Pyponte-Le Parc III)
Thunder (Cece Beck)1
Gear (I.Z.O.R.) 2
Kid Quantum (Jazmin Cullen)3

Threeboot
M'Rissey 2
Gazelle (Giselle Smith)
Sizzle (Teela Spuunvll)
Turtle (Bogdan Tarka)

This would make a nice poll, Wang Lung!

As someone who grew up with the Postboot I'll definitely go for Kinetix and Kid Quantum II, both among my all time faves. Monsteras is another fave but her powers aren't unique, so I will pass her up in favor of Gear. Dragonmage is a close fourth though either Mysa or Glorith could also return.

I'd like to see Danielle Foccart, Sussa Paka, and M'Rissey, not so much for their powers (although those are pretty cool, too) as for their unique personalities.

Both Danielle and M'Rissey would go some way to focusing the team away from Brainiac for every solution. Tharok or the Blight have taken apart the UP comms infrastructure. Computo II & GEAR can pick up on a lot of that. UP administration giving you problems? Politics causing concern? Let Jacques, Harmonia and M'Rissey at them.

Actually, I hadn't read the top post, before replying to that one. smile

If I had to pick three it would be:-

Preboot Laurel Gand - The one that was a result of the Glorithverse.

Kid Quantum is too good to leave out.

Since my personal Legion would have XS, there's less need for Impulse, so I'll go with Computo over GEAR.

So, Laurel Gand, Jazmin Cullen and Danielle Foccart please.

With the Legion in the state it was in at the end of the Levitz run, there's room for a number of these guys to make appearances.

I still don't count Anti Lad as a member though.... smile

Am I allowed to vote more than once for Laurel Gand? And, if so, is there an upper limit?

If not, then one vote for Laurel, please. And, can I get that to go?

I did a little poll like this a couple of years ago, here's the link if anyone wants to check it out.

As someone else who became heavily interested in the Legion during their Postboot run, all my choices are from that grouping. My choices would be Kinetix, Andromeda, and Thunder (who I thought was a very interesting expansion of the Shazam mythos)

I've updated the list again.

@Lone Wolf Legionnaire Wow that’s quite a list. I wouldn’t have been able to update that list lol. I had to keep it to those there were a part of the Legion other universes but did not have a duplicate version.

@Man of Valor I too liked Thunder. The problem with her though was that she was too much like other characters with her powers. Mon-El, Andromeda, Superboy, and Ultraboy. But then, I thought the whole thing with duplicate powers being a bit stupid anyway. Especially now. Does it really matter that they have the same powers? Especially one so useful?

The Legion of Super-Super Rip-Offs might get a little dull.

Superboy: Hi Thunder! I see you've captured Mordru again.

Thunder: And only using one toe! Thanks for letting him escape again Superboy.

Superboy: Well, it was your turn on the rota. It's Mon-El up next, then Laurel...

It's all in the writing of course.

From your list, my choices would be;

Kid Quantum II (Jasmin)

and then some combination of;

Dragonmage
Computo II
Spider Girl
Reflex
Kinetix
GEAR
Gazelle
Sizzle
Turtle

I'm surprised at how few of the 5YG characters I like (and of the two I do, one is an original character that they developed further, Spider Girl).

I like the idea of people like M'Rissey or Theena (Theena! Woo!) as support characters, like Gigi Cusimano or R.J. Brande or Shvaugn Erin or Dr. Gym'll, but not actual members of the team.

She's not on the list, but I would take Laurel Kent over Laurel Gand (or Kent Shakespeare), six times a week and twice on Sunday. smile

A team consisting entirely of 'Legionnaires of One World,' who don't have duplicates in the other continuities, could be funky.

Tyroc, Chemical King, Tellus, Green Lantern (Rond Vidar), Chameleon Girl, Nightwind, Dream Boy, Gazelle, Sizzle, Turtle, Theena, Computo II, Kid Quantum II, Gates, Shikari, Dragonmage, GEAR, Reflex (Devlin), Kinetix

That could be a cool team.

I put you in for KQ. Then Dragonmage, and Computo since they were at the top.

I'm not able to take a screenshot, but if you'd like to create a poll next time, look for the "Poll Manager" option when you create a new topic. It's just under the box where you type in the text of your first post; there's text on the left side that says "Poll Options" smile

Re Set's post above, I would love to read a one-shot or mini that uses Legionnaires who exist (as Legionnaires) in only one reality. I hope that whenever the Legion does get published again, the writers use some of those Legionnaires above - they deserve a shot at the "big time"!

From Set's list, I'd take the ff:

Kinetix
Gates
Kid Quantum II
XS
Dragonmage
Gear
Shikari
Theena
Computo II (hey, why not? even though her powers duplicate Gear's somewhat...)
Nightwind
Chameleon Girl
Chemical King
Tyroc
Tellus

and add:

Polar Boy (he's been around for so long it's easy to forget he's only actually been a Legionnaire Preboot and in the Retroboot!)
Infectious Lass
Lamprey (there's a place for her with the lightning twins missing)
Monstress (with no Super-cousins, Ultra Boy or Blok, there's plenty of room for a powerhouse)
Magno
Particon (Postboot rejected applicant)
Lume (ditto)
Kono

I like Rond as a character but am iffy about the GL connection. Maybe if he internalized his powers, like with Celeste Rockfish.

I probably missed some that I'd like to add though!

It might be because I'm new, but I don't have the Poll Option. I have Post Option there but it doesn't do anything.

My idea of the list was based on the premis, if the Legion stays as it is, but they want to re-introduce characters, then these ones can easily be re-done. Logically many of the characters could exist in the same universe as the current Legion. The 5YL storyline never happened but that doesn't mean those characters were never born or don't exist. Even Laural Gand could still be on Daxam waiting to be a part of the team. Kid Quantum is on Xanthu. Kinetix on Aleph, Computo 2 in on earth, etc.

So many great characters, so little time I guess. And writers who can't write so many. Even Levitz seemed to have problems this time around. They need writers/editors who can work with what they have and not what they want.

I really don't mind if they split some of the team up like they did with a few teams years ago. Recently Legion Lost and there was the Post-ZH team stuck in the past for quite a while. They just need to make it good. LL was just bad but could have been good if they tried harder.I at least think they made a big mistake not having him write LLost as well as the main title. If they are going to do something new I want two teams in the same time period but in different parts of the UP. It doesn't always have been based on Earth.

I like the idea that Xanthu might have had their own super-team. If even other countries on Earth might have their own teams, then it would make sense that entire planets would also have their own teams (like the Heroes of Lallor or the Amazers).

I've explored that a tiny bit in the Heroes of Other Worlds thread (with Khundish, Dominator, Sorcerer's World, Competalian, Tamaranean, Rannian/Thanagarian and Titanian super-teams), but I'd love to see more of that.

Other than the Omega Men, and the Green Lantern Corps, DC hasn't done much with alien hero teams, which, in the 30th/31st century especially, would seem to be a no-brainer.

I'm totally with you Set. The Wanderers too would be cool. Didn't they sort of show up in Superman recently with and adult Legion? I missed that whole run and need to go back and get it.

I think splitting the team is a good idea to allow them to focus on more characters, but I always like having my Legionnaires be able to come together should the need arise. Instead, I'd prefer something like the JLU cartoon a while back - all these Legionnaires are on call, but the writers just rotate smaller teams of 4-7 Legionnaires per story. Maybe once a year (hmm, might be too often given the state of comics now!) we can have the whole team coming together to face a bigger threat.

Or something like the X-Men - there are tons of smaller teams running around but they can pull in other members as needed. What I really don't want is to see a portion of the team be stranded indefinitely in another galaxy or another time!

Agreed. I would have been fine with Legion Lost if it was in another part of the UP or something. At least the previous time the Legion was stuck in the past the story was actually good.

They also need more non-humanoids. Notice I said humanoid. Change of skin color or extra arm doesn’t cut it for me.

On non-humanoid: Steve Lightle seemed to be very keen on this, as did Levitz. But beyond Tellus and arguably Quislet, not a great deal. Part of the discussion is empathy. Just how well will the reader relate to the mat of algae from Etna VI that can survive any extreme of temperature?

If you have too few, it's a token gesture. If it's too many you run the risk of losing the connection with the reader. Tellus had recognisable limbs and face and could communicate with the others fully. How far can a writer reasonably stray?

It's a similar things for worlds. The further form an earth like world, the generally less the connection. If the Legion showed your city in peril, you're likely to take more of an interest than a few shacks on Talok.

This isn't to say that well written comics can't produce non humanoid drama on exotic worlds. It's just harder to do consistently and across a longer term, particularly across creative teams.

It doesn't seem to hurt Green Lantern books to much. I think the Legion wouldn't be hurt to have a couple more alien creatures. Maybe still have two legs and arms but more than just a skin color change. It might be a bit more of a challenge for the writer but I think it would make it better in the end.

Probably just my GL reading experience, but even my most recent reads have shown a huge number of earth-involved humanoids, in a sector with more Lantern designates than any other, nearly all humanoids from Earth.

Well maybe it's just me but I hate how many humans there are and love some of the aliens. "Yawn, Oh look another human green lantern. How many up to now?" They were up to what 5 human GL's if you included Alan Scott. I don't care if what's his face is now a white one. big deal. change of color makes such a difference (sarcastic). I liked Guy mare when he was Warrior.

The Vuldarian concept for Guy-Warrior was intriguing, and I even played with it in the Heroes of Other Worlds thread (since it's one of several concepts that DC seems to have backed away from and hopes everyone forgot about...), making a Vuldarian / Slyggan hybrid, to double up on that Green Lantern connection. smile

Alan Scott doesn't really count as that sort of Green Lantern, but the rings certainly do seem to have a preference for Earth dudes, and, more often than probability would suggest, white Earth dudes. I've often found it odd that the people with gender-specific names like Super*man* and Bat*man* have so many Supergirls and Batwomen and Batgirls, and the few Justice Leaguers who *don't* have gender specific names, like Green Lantern and the Flash, never seem to have female counterparts. Five Earth members of the Green Lantern Corps (Hal, Kyle, John, Guy, Simon) and no women. Three or four Flashes (Jay, Barry, Wally, Bart) and still no ladies. There have been multiple Aquagirls and Hawkwomen, 'though...
