The idea that some heroes use ancient weapons such as a bow & arrow, mace, shield, is more noble than using a gun is kind of silly.

Carnage? I actually think the symbiote stuff is pretty cool but Marvel has just abused it a bit much.

That's an understatement. Gah! Now I'm flashing back to being a naive newcomer to super-hero comics and foolishly buying every issue of Maximum Carnage as they came out. Ahh, the good old days...

Even before then, during Byrne's Man of Steel reboot (which I kinda liked), Batman was portrayed as being able to out-think a Kryptonian who'se a hundred times smarter than him, out-react said Kryptonian who can move at near light speed and *disappear right in front of him,* so that Superman, able to hear bees fart in China and see skin cells dividing in someone's pancreas halfway across the city, *couldn't find him.* That's not 'cool,' that's just lame, and proof that the writers don't know how to write a dude with no super-powers making a difference among gods that walk the earth. It's possible to make Batman cool without making everyone else around him into complete dunces or naive buffoons...

Looking through the latest edition of Previews last night, I was reminded how much I hate The Joker now. If they'd taken him out with The Killing Joke, it would have been leaving on a high note, as far as I'm concerned.
That being said, the animated Joker, of which I only saw one episode a few years ago, was interesting; funny, not too evil, more eccentric than psychopathic.

Hm. To be honest, I actuall hated the animated Joker. Its hard to pinpoint why. To me the Joker and the Penguin were the lowpoints of the animated villains.
But I hate the Joker now too. Using the character is almost a parody of using the character. I mean, was it really necessary for him to kill Gordon's wife in No Man's Land as well? But I have to say at least Grant Morrison's last Joker story brought a fresh look to the often mis-used Clown Prince of Crime, even if that issue was very difficult for non-Batman readers to get into. Supposedly Morrison has more plans for him.
Actually, the only thing worse than a Joker appearance in the Bat-titles is when he crosses over into another comic. I think I may actually groan outloud in my comics shop when I see him on a cover.

G'Nort - a one-joke character that really makes no sense in the GL mythos who never should've had more than one appearance.
Monstress - glad she's dead and gone

Darn, I hate more characters than I realized! Joker for sure. I am hating him in Salvation Run. Lex Luthor on the hand I've never cared for and the last few years I've warmed up to him. I forgot about Monstress. I used hate Rage and Genis-Vell (as Legacy) but over time grew to love them. Suprised Iron Man is getting more votes. I still love him.

I don't really hate characters, I mean, I realy don't like Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) but I have seen him portrayed as tolarable before (same with Guy Garnder). Depends on the take of hte character.
Some characters I don't like... Joker, the animated Joker is funny, comic Joker is just annoying (we GET that he is a mass murderer, enough already!)
Danny Chase or whoever that REALLY annoying kid was from New Titans, every time I see him in an issue I cringe, I guess him I do hate
Supergirl (current version) I really don't like her and really, really don't like when she shows up in comics I read, but I can tolerate her (sometimes) like when she joined Legion...and um, that was it. Do not like the character, want her to go away (or not invade my books).
Batwoman (current version) didn't get the character in 52, don't want her coming near my books
Spoiler (stephanie Brown) always found her really annoying and a waste of panel space
hmmmm, there's more, but luckily most of the books I read/like don't get invaded too much by other character, I'm lucky that way

I'm with stephbarton. Most characters that I dislike, I only dislike when written a certain way.
Ollie, for example, I hate when he's being all pig-headed.
Sex-crazed Roy Harper, but he's more tolerable now.
Risk, for some reason, I always kinda hate.
3Boot Ultra Boy, until Shooter came. But before that I never knew that I could hate a Legionnaire!

Batgod is such a #@%$%^% smug know-it-all*. One of my favorite scenes in Green Lantern: Rebirth is when Hal Jordan punches Batgod in the face."
HAH!
I've been referring to this character as "That BASTARD who's been impersonating Bruce Wayne."

I will go with the dislike rather than hate.
I agree with what was said about Lobo and in the same token, Wolverine and Punisher.
From the Legion, I really disliked Thunder who, I felt, was a third rate Andromeda who was a Supergirl Substitute. (that said, I did like Andromeda knowing that they couldn't use Kara)

Again, I don't know if "hate" is the right word, but I've never quite understood the appeal of Batman. I'm sorry. Super-heroes are supposed to have super-powers!
I'm also not so fond of that villain of his, Oswald Cobblepot. Everyone knows I love penguins, so everyone asks me if I like him. No.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

for some reason i LOVE batman and HATE karate kid. I think it's because batman is a man and therefore has already worked his ass off. and he's handled really scary badguys all on his own... hmm i think maybe because he's more of a detective where as karate kid's physicality is what's supposed to be impressive about him? but karate kid is so weird and silly to me! like, go home you're going to get killed you tiny boy!

The Kangaroo II and the Kangeroo III. Spidey had a villain named the Kangeroo who had one appearance, got the crap beat out of him, then appeared one more time only to die in the end. Kinda silly, but a pretty strait-forward part of his early mythos.
Then not only does a *new* Kangeroo return, almost an exact replica of the character, but then a third one, even lamer than both combined, returns? Where the hell is Scourge?

Set is spot-on about Batman, but you've all heard me gripe along similar lines before, so never mind.
Wolverine was wrecked by overexposure. He was great as the cigar-chewing mystery dude, but then everyone had to come in and "improve" him. Bleah!
I'll add The Beyonder, because well... Secret Wars was surely two of the worst things to ever hit comics, and he was at the center of it.
Hey, Kids! My "Cranky and Kitschy" collage art is now viewable on ipernity! Drop by and tell me that I sent you. *updated often!*

I was OK with Batman and Superman until the whole Infinite Crisis thing. How DARE they give Wonder Woman such flak, when she merely acted to stop more lives from being lost? And hey Batman, it was your satellite that indirectly led to the OMACs. How many innocent lives lost there huh? Deathstroke, Doctor Light I Word. Hate how Deathstroke is like the Mary Sue of villains. I want to see this guy get beat down. Especially after what he did to his daughter Rose. And Arthur Light (before Flashpoint) was just a first-rate creep. Can I add again, 3boot Ultra Boy and Atmos. I know too many guys in real life with that sort of ego, I want my Legionnaires to be free of that thank you very much.
