Yep. That's what I meant. A damsel is a young unmarried woman or girl.

The appropriate title would be Lady Duplicate, but that doesn't sound good at all. We could upgrade her title to go with the name.

Queen Duplicate= Too villainous?
Duchess Duplicate= I love the sound of it.
Countess Duplicate= It sounds punny.
Marchioness Duplicate= Kent and myself are probably the only members who know what a marchioness is.
Baroness Duplicate= It's too associated with WWII villains.

No, you're not. It's the wife of a marquess or a woman who holds the rank of marquess in her own right. laugh

The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I went through dozens of titles, looking for cool-sounding names to go alongside the Emerald Empress, like Topaz Tyrant and Diamond Dauphin. Duplicate Dauphin just doesn't work for me. It makes her sound like a replacement or stand-in for the real Dauphin.

Instead of trying to find a better name, maybe we should go all Reboot/Kinetix and turn her into a cat-girl, so that we can call her Copycat? smile

And why is it 'copygirl' comes from Cargg and Mysa is the one who lived on Xerox? That makes no sense! LesterSpiffany STUPID! [/LesterSpiffany]

well ... there is already a Duplicate Boy. of no relation to Lu. so it strikes me as lazy to name her that.

They couldn't call her Multiple Lass, because then she'd get confused with Multiple Orgasm Lass of the Legion of Super-Dominatrixes...

(Plus if you say 'Multiple Lass' quickly, it kind of sounds like she has more than one backside...)

The problem with "Duplicate" in her name is that it sounds less powerful than "Triplicate", even though she's supposedly powered up!

HA! That would be awesome.

I actually like the name Duplicate Damsel...as unweildy as it is, it captures the hokey Silver Age quality I like about the Legion in the same way as Matter-Eater Lad does.. smile

How long will it be until a team-up or a fight or an affair between Duplicate Damsel and Duplicate Boy?

Actually, a Carggite with the ability to duplicate other heroes powers when he/she triplicates might be interesting.

So, she might split into a body with Sun Boy's powers, a body with Star Boy's powers, and a body with Shrinking Violet's powers, but would have to merge and split again if she wanted to change powers.

I've been thinking about super-powered members of the various other worlds (as in, super-powered like Calorie Queen, having powers *other* than whatever is normal for their homeworld).

A Carggite who had triple the normal strength, brainpower, etc. while merged could be neat. Sort of like Marvel's Triathalon / 3-D Man, but able to split into three normal strength selves as well.

Just wanted to say I'm a fan of this change. It's powers Lu back up again, it solves all those "Why don't I die when my body is killed" stories, it's better than the force belt/ force shield thing/ it's a nod to a good story in Adventure where all the girls had their powers amplified.

That story, for me, was one of what they could achieve if they applied themselves to improving their powers.

I could see, say, Shadow Lass improving her shadows' range and intensity through practice, but not Lu learning how to create more duplicates that way.

I do like the change too though. It still doesn't make her overpowered.

I'd be more on board if she had her own new code name.

There is already a Duplicate Boy.

Maybe Multiple Lass ... Infinity Girl ... Nth Woman ... Exponential Empress ...

I kind of like "Multiple Matron"!

It totally captures her position as head of the Legion Academy!

She's a one-woman Legion Lass!

Or Multiple Miss. Or Everywhere Girl.

If we find out her duplicates are quantum related, she could even change her name to Kid Quantum or Quantum Queen!

Because it was in an earlier story, it's as if the potential for her to do this was there, she just didn't know how to access it it without the help of the villain. Because of the precedent, it's not something that's appeared out of the blue. This is her gone through the steps the villain allowed her instant access to previously.

In the same story (I think) Shadow Lass could black out a much larger area, so over the years it wouldn't be infeasible for this to gradually happen. It may not. Shadow Lass may never push herself in the slightest. But the potential would have been there.

I've already agreed with you on that. It's like Saturn Girl broadening her range to affect more minds at a time via practice, or XS learning to harness her speed to make quick jumps through time. But Projectra making her illusions solid or Luornu making more duplicates just through practice, well that's something else entirely. I don't see how those things could be potentially possible without an outside power upgrade.

Combining it with the "every other native of my homeworld would have died if this had happened to them" thread that runs through Lu's "deaths" would suggest that the duplication power was already in there, and didn't require an outside force as such.
