I keep getting mixed up with the Legionnaires series before Zero Hour and the reboot. So, I want to put in Kid Quantum, but I know it's wrong XS had a solo issue, so fairly sure on that one. Kinetix and....um, checks lance's post...Gates! I'd stopped reading it by then.

XS, Kinetix and Gates are the correct answers! XS was introduced in Legionnaires 0, Kinetix was introduced in LSH 66, and Gates first appeared in the same issue and became a Legionnaire in LSH 76. Over to you thothkins!

Who was Karate Kid's first foe in his own title?

Nemesis Kid it was, in a weird bit of foreboding. I wonder if Levitz was thinking about it when he plotted Karate Kid's demise (the first time) Karate Kid was a complete jerk in his own title. His next foes were his own team. I'm surprised the first suggestion wasn't Keith Giffen drawing himself into the book. That would have been my guess

CMK gets it again!
I vaguely remember Karate Kid having a big chip on his shoulder in his own series. He didn't treat Iris Jacobs very well.

I'm not at all surprised it didn't last long. If you don;t have any empathy for your main character, how long can it last? Not to mention him being written in a way that didn't match the main book.

Well, wouldn't you have a chip on your shoulder if you had to live amongst barbarians with none of the modern comforts you're used to?
Not to mention, he didn't really want Iris to get affectionate with him. He was there in the first place in order to win Jeckie's hand in marriage.
New Question: Flynt Brojj was apparently the Legion's # 1 fan, but aside from a tour of Legion HQ (in which he solved the Witch-Wolf problem), there's only one known benefit that he got from that status. What was that benefit?

He was one of the first to be informed about the results of a Legion leader election?

Yup, that's it - wow, that was a lot quicker than I'd expected. Yours, IB.

I remembered that particular panel, and was slightly amused at how big a deal the Legion elections were to non-Legionnaires.
Hmmm... I'll be back with a new question in a bit.

Legionnaires 50 had a pullout poster which depicted 3 characters who would become future active Legionnaires. Who were these three?

Kid Quantum II, Monstress and Karate Kid.
Actually, Dreamer and both components of Wildfire are probably on the poster also, aren't they?

Well... You got two or three right, depending on how you count one part of your answer All three of the characters I am thinking of have already been mentioned.

You know what, I'll bet I'm thinking of the poster from the Secret Files rather than the one from Legionnaires # 50.
So I'll say Kid Quantum II, Monstress and Wildfire, when Wildfire was a "printing error." And then they joked about the printing error in the Secret Files poster.

You have two correct this time, and yes you are right about the "printing error" joke!

Monstress, Thunder and Wildfire (as a disembodied blob of floating energy).

Correct!
It's pretty odd that Kid Quantum II and Karate Kid are both absent from the poster, yet they joined up before Thunder.
Ferro IS on the poster, and he joined the issue before (LSH 93 would have been published before Legionnaires 50, if I recall correctly).
And the disembodied blob that is Wildfire joined even after Thunder did, so yeah.
And Dreamer's absence is probably an indication that the writers at the time had no plans to bring her into the Legion.

IIRC, they intended to bring Thunder in earlier, but there were some co-ordination problems with Power of Shazam, and they had to wait for Ordway to set it up.
