I admire people who bake. That's because I don't have the patience to follow baking instructions so carefully. I prefer cooking dishes which allow me to experiment and to retouch as needed

Nope, that's one of my specialties (least they tell me so) and every time I cook more than one dish, that is one of them

Cooked that quite a few times. Blaze likes it a lot, and so does my sister.

I was thinking sauces might be trickier to pull off, therefore done by fewer people.

d) Asian Simmered Fish as it seems geographically broad.

I personally find sauces easier because you have more wiggle room with them. Put too much pepper? Add some water or a potato to balance it out.

Done Asian-style Simmered Fish many times - I have over half a dozen variations of the dish. Soy sauce, honey, ginger and a citrus fruit (Philippine lime, lemon, "normal" limes, orange) usually.

I have had on occasion Sauce Monsters that never quite balance out because I've tinkered too much.

That does happen to me occasionally too

Beef Tacos are my mom's favorite, but my friends and my team at the office like 'em too! We have a recipe for the beef that makes it really flavorful.

I usually serve them alongside homemade salsa. Even tried adding mangoes to it once.

e) "Birthday" Noodles

why you would have anything other than cake on a birthday is a mystery to me. Must have Marzipan though... mmmmm...marzipan...

Birthday cake is a cultural thing, as are "Birthday" noodles which have (in my culture) been around for thousands of years.

As you've probably guessed, I have made those before. My dad in particular likes them.

i) Shrimp Risotto

Made that one exactly once for my family and once for Blaze My sister liked how moist it was.

PS marzipan is good too. But my family is partial to mocha cakes

Normally when something is listed twice like "Shrimp", it can be a clue. But then there are exceptions...

Yes, there are. Shrimp Gambas was the very first dish I cooked for my family

f) Chili Con Carne

Indeed! My grandpa taught me how to make chili con carne, but I've never actually made it myself (too time-consuming).

As for the others, Beef Sukiyaki and Sweet and Sour Pork were also among the first few dishes I ever learned to cook and both are family favorites. I've only made Singaporean Chili Crab once as I'm not much of a crab lover, and the sauce came out of a jar.

I opened the curtains and saw a blur of fur and tail. It paused for a moment revealing itself to be a grey squirrel, or squiggle as I call them, and then darted away.
