Looks like Newsarama has posted the first 5 pages previewing the upcoming issue.

Waid gave us the accident prone Star Boy. Bedard gave us a more competent Star Boy. Now Shooter gives us a witty Star Boy. I think I'm starting to like this guy....

Giselle! Saturn Girl with a gun! Witty and competent Star Boy is a big improvement.
Invisible Kid is no doubt off saving the day with invisibility and ingenuity.

"Prodigious Physicality." Hee-hee. That's what Projectra said...hee-hee.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I misread it the first time as "Promiscuous Physicality" Giselle -- a very apt name for a "combat ballerina" FJM, it looks great!

Only thing I want clarified is that these creatures are not “alive/intelligent” as such.
Otherwise we have just torn up a huge chunk of Legion Lore in having Saturn Girl shooting them and Star Boy ripping them in half.
Unless of course we are going to get a story set around the ramifications of Legionnaires using deadly force.
Still, I prefer my legion non lethal and this is looking like the legion has suddenly developed a rather cavalier attitude to taking life.

Another strong issue... some good action and the new candidates' powers were highly entertaining.
I have only one quibble... too many new space-age curse words like florg, zizz, cruk and snoog! Florg is especially over-used. These just sound annoying and forced to me.
Fruit Boy for Legion Leader!!!!!

I don't know. Sometimes you just gotta say, "what the florg!"

Liked the issue a lot. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this series is headed. My one gripe is that (with the exception of Fruit Boy) Shooter is using the 90's as a basis to name his Legion rejects. I thought the main reason we rebooted to this Legion was to get back to Boy/Girl/Lad/Lass names! This isn't the X-Men!* Do not open the below spoiler tag unless you want to meet the 7 candidates... Click Here For A Spoiler *Then again at least they got names at all.

good stuff.
-I think Spy, virus, and voice would make good additions. Spy seems to have a good grasp of powers, and the other two just need training.
-Lighting Lad: where to begin. it's one thing to make bad decisions, it's another to act like a complete donkey. grow up already. at least show some tact. I get the impression he wants to get booted out of the leadership position.
as for the Legion killing the clones(?), it reminds me of something I read a few days ago. the writer mentioned how a silver age Flash villian used to freeze people, but the story would always mention that they would thaw later. huh, huh, sure they would.

I am new to the Legion and this message board. This is my first post.
My 1st issue was #37. Every time I drop a book, I like to pick up something new to replace it. I have been watching the Legion cartoon so decided to pick it up.
I LOVED IT!! Issue #38 was also great.
I imediately went out and got the first 2 trades of Waid's/Kitson's run. I have always been a Kitson fan since he was on "Titans" where he drew a beautiful Lilith Clay/Omen. I always really enjoyed them.
I am now an obsessed fan of Dream Girl. She is AWESOME!!!! Unfortunately like Lilith (my favorite Titan), she is now dead. I heard she talks to Dreamy in his dreams.
Has anyone heard any rumors if Shooter is going to bring Dream Girl back??????
This is a rarity for me to say this but I actually like EVERYONE in the book. Usually there are multiple characters I don't care for in a team book, but not here. I also especially like Saturn Girl. I really love Phantom Girl's costume too.
With the X-Men books being a disappointment lately, glad to know I got the Legion to fill that void.

Welcome to the Best Damn Message Board in the Land (Sorry: it's an Ohio thing to say. ) Though, actually, it is. and now it's better. Didn't take you long to find the place? We must be on the map now. I'm not the normal "new reader greeter" but can't sleep and the Europe crowd is probably just waking up. Anyhow, HEY! Lots of Titan fans here (not me, but many others). Somewhere there's a thread for them. Someone will track it down for you. Check out some of the game threads in Spaceopoly. Mission Monitor Board has some great hangouts to keep us busy between issues and there are some VERY talented people posting their art and fan-fics in Bits o' Legionnaire Business. Oh, and some of the creative types on the books check in here regularly. Avoid the redheads (long story). Have fun!

haven't read the issue yet but it looks like M'rrisey is set up to save the day at some point. He looks awfully young, though - another boy genius.
Why can't Brainy just circumvent all the financial red tape to get the transmatters working? Still, we've often criticized the transmatter/instant portal as too easy - so a financial impediment is a logical way to limit them.

The new profanity was really jarring, I didn't totally dig it ... where the florg are sprock and nass?!
But seriously, it felt like it came entirely out of left field. 37 issues of no profanity, then an issue with the Legion of PottyMouths. And not that I mind fake profanity at all, it just felt unnatural because it was used so much in this issue.
And sprock is a way better substitute for the "f-word" than florg .. ugh.
On a positive note: I dug the rejects. Wouldn't mind seeing Voice & Spy again.

Lightning Lad could solve about three-quarters of his problems if he could learn to delegate.

I too thought it was a pretty good issue, but was also annoyed by all the future slang nonsense words.
If Star Boy can nullify gravity as well as increase it, why do we need Light Lass? I liked this development of his abilities in the last boot, but that was in the days of Lightning Lass. Then again, if she was still Lightning Lass I guess we wouldn't need Lightning Lad.
I was relieved that the new candidates ended up being comic relief and not an influx of new members. It was an amusing nod to the silver age tryouts. The mission monitor board is also a nice touch from the olden days. Why can't this book be called "Adventure Comics Starring the Legion of Super Heroes"?
Garth is way too immature and short sighted to be leader. How'd he get elected anyway?
Saturn Girl is shown communicating with mechanical devices more than once. I thought she couldn't do that since she's mute. Why not just call mom up telepathically?
I hope we've seen the last of the transmatter thingies. I miss the days of space travel with the Legion having their own fleet of ships. Having them able to appear instantaneously anywhere in the universe is too convenient for me.

Lilith and Dream Girl are my favorites too, Aski, and I'm pissed as hell that they're both dead. I wrote a story years ago that made Lilith and Nura (and Mysa) sisters, and the daughters of Mordru. Lilith and Nura even both have star-shaped birth marks, which was a clue to their kinship in my story. Still think it would be a cool idea.

Before she went to Sorcerer's World and get herself bleached, Mysa was even a redhead, like Lilith. It would be interesting to find out much, much after-the fact that Mysa and Nura contain shards of the reincarnated spirit of Lilith.

[/b]Lilith was always my favourite Titan too... in fact I only read the book because she was in it. It's too bad that our only access to Dream Girl these days is through the always over-exposed Brainy. It's nice Shooter has kept him in the background thus far... his character was getting to be far too similar to L.E.G.I.O.N.'s Vril Dox. Hopefully, Shooter will give this character a fresher spin.
