Chunking Mansion: a city within a city. That was the backpacker place I stayed in Hong Kong, early 90s. An AMAZING social mixture of mostly Indians and Pakistani's and western backpackers. I remember skinny little elevators with a weight limit that they taught us to bypass by holding onto the rails and lifting our feet. You could eat like a God for almost nothing at little restaurants the Indians had hidden in their apartments.

So is most of Asia. Sigh, I miss being on the open road with nothing but a backpack, a map and a sense of adventure... (and of course WIFI access so I can plot my next move).

Took the family to see Despicable Me 2. We saw it in 3D, cause that was the one available as the showtimes were incorrect online. Fun movie that the kids loved.
I love the minions.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Or Mafe. Nope, yassa. Mafe tomorrow. Wow, amazed how much I miss particularly remembering how miserable I claimed to be while I was actually living there. There are some things I just cannot get out of my blood, from my time there. I'd HAVE to add Senegal to MY list, best cooks ever and of course there's the historical connection to the US because of the slave trade. And Ghana. The friendliest people I met when living in Gabon, were from Ghana. Well, now the day doesn't seem like such a waste. I've actually done something.

Thanks for the compliment but I'm pretty sure the interesting part will be at the destination and you'll be happy it's a short ride to get there, lol.

I am envious. I know Senegal and Ghana are safe, stable and pleasant West Africa destinations, and Gabon has one of the better economies in Africa due to its rich natural resources. But all I know is what I've read, and it will be a while before I actually get to experience these in person.
