This reminds me of how Ex pronounces "Abin"--totally not the way I pronounce it! I betcha Ex didn't ask Abin how HE says it!

I didn't have to ask. Within a couple minutes of "LMB chat" he totally just said it... the same way I do! For the record - according to the man himself - it's "AY-bin" not "AH-bin". Although, oddly, he also does say "po-TAH-to".

The really surprising thing, though, was that "Quislet Esq." is actually pronounced, "Throat Warbler Mangrove."

Insane amount of Legion World meetings in a one day period (not at all recommended, because the overwhelming conclusion is simply that more time with each person is absolutely required.) Today's strafing run included: He Who Wanders - an elegant and eloquent professor who gave both an appreciative nod at my Macbeth reference and an autographed copy of his novel; Jerry - perhaps the most chill Legion Worlder I've met yet, who - from the very first moment I sat down - made me feel as though we'd been friends for a lifetime; ...and Conjure Lass - the nearly three hour conversation with whom spanned such topics as the nature of consciousness and mortality, the fine line between gender roles and sexuality, whether our society is heading more toward an Orwellian or Huxleyian model of the future, and our mutual appreciation for the worldview of Cranky McBastard. All told, one thing is abundantly clear... the rest of you 100 Toothpicks folks better step up your game!

Lucky I got done early, who needs this pressure?
And Paladin, at least you have a rep. I'm just that guy who was new before Blaze burned up the place.

Heh. Still gotta think I'm a let-down in person compared to my rep! I doubt very much you would be a let down even if RT you is not like Lardy. Come up to Boston and I'll show you cemeteries.

Now Quis starts the Cemetery tours. ...and notice how Ex has ignored my question...hmmm. To think, Lardy has a complex.

Blaze who? That would be somewhat satisfying in a completely self-centered way, were it not for the fact that I'm hoping to be remembered here when I'm gone, and that doesn't bode well for said goal.

That would have made it that much more fun.
Seriously though, you were very gracious considering it was evening, and snowing.

Just a quick note to confirm that participating in Ex's mad dash day was a wonderful experience. Fun, adventure, and community. Come back soon, kind gentleman.

He Who Wanders - an elegant and eloquent professor who gave both an appreciative nod at my Macbeth reference and an autographed copy of his novel;
That's the first time I've ever been called "elegant." The visit was a lot of fun; I had suggested meeting at Applebee's or a few other places with which I was familiar, but Ex, scouting on his own, found a nice place called Bar Louie's. We both had salads and martinis! One of the interesting things I learned was that Ex was born the month one of the first Legion stories I ever read was on sale! (I won't say which to avoid aging him.) Abin Quank came up in our conversation; I didn't know his surname was pronounced "Quawnk." I thought it rhymed with "Quack." Another thing we talked about was how LW embodies the ideals of the Legion's inclusivity and openness--this truly is a special place where people from all walks of life find common ground. I appreciated Ex taking the time to fly out here and brave the heat and potentially lethal atmosphere of the Kansas City area (there seems to be something causing allergies around here) to meet me. His positivity is infectious. [Insert random Drura Sehpt joke.]
