I am soliciting opinions as to whether a practically complete collection of all things showing the Legion will increase in value or not with the recent cancellation. I am almost as old as the group but the time to sever ties is at hand, it seems to me. Your expert opinions will be much appreciated.

I couldn't tell you, though I would think the value would remain relatively the same for at least the next few years. The Legion isn't what I'd call a hot commodity.

XD. I could never part with my comic collection. It would be like selling old friends.

I can't imagine it would significantly increase in value just because yet another Legion series has ended.

The only value you should really be concerned with is sentimental value, because cash valuewise, you would probably be lucky to get 25 cents per issue if you sold every single LSH comic from Adventure 247 to present. Sure, the earliest key issues might bring the bling, but later issues?

Don't ditch your entire run only to regret it 10 years later.

I would never part with my Legion collection. As a Legion fan I see this cancellation as an opportunity to hunt down missing back issues to complete my collection. There's no dollar amount that I could place on a collection dating back to my childhood in the mid 1970's.

There's also the consideration that we don't know what will happen with the Legion - they may be revived in a few years (oh, how optimistic I am).

Yeah, I don't see the point of selling off your Legion collection. It's definitely a buyer's market, by and large, right now. Plus, well, if you're a member here, it's almost sacrilege. Certainly, the best, most beloved Legion stories are in that collection. I could totally see selling off Retro-boot and Threeboot, even for pennies on the dollar. Not much to look back on and enjoy there.

I have to disagree with you on your dismissal of the Retro-boot run. First, Geoff Johns' Superman & the Legion storyline in Action was an interesting read, and I enjoyed Levitz's Legion Academy stories from Adventure along with the Earth-Man and Brainy and Dream Girl kidnapped by the Dominators stories in LSH. Heck, even this current Fatal Five might turn out OK if it weren't for the inconsistent art getting in the way. While I admit that Levitz's current stuff hasn't been as interesting as his 1980's run, it does provide a better bookend ending for the series as a whole than LSH #63 when the magic wars concluded. If this is the end of the Legion, then I'd want Levitz's third run as the concluding chapter.

LW: personally, I'd keep all of it as well, but I'm less attached to Threeboot and Retro-boot because of my personal distaste for them. But I could see myself getting rid of them in a pinch. (I already got rid of New 52's Legion Lost because I thought it was complete rubbish.) I kind of liked the Action arc and the early issues of Paul's run on the pre-New 52 volume (especially the annual!), and I also like some of Waid's and Shooter's stuff in Threeboot. But compared to any previous Legion volume or series, I rank them waaaaaaaaay behind.

Paladin: I agree with you totally that this Levitz run pales in comparison to his old stuff. I can't comment on the Three-boot era, I never collected it. My collection ends with #63 and the magic wars and restarts with the Action arc making it only a Original/Retro-boot collection. That may be why I am more forgiving of Levitz at times because I never read the stuff in between except an issue here or there. I agree that Legion Lost was hard to read, especially towards the end, yet I'm holding on to it because, given the circumstances, it might portray the last appearances of the original Timber Wolf, Dawnstar, Tyroc, Tellus, Gates and Wildfire. I really enjoyed the cast selection in this volume even if the storyline was executed poorly.
