Actually, I studied all of these. My major was film, but it started off as a theatre, with a brief thought that maybe it'd be English (hence the English 101 class that focused entirely on the Dickens novel "Bleak House.")

Most of the rest, well that's a Liberal Arts education for you.

So Quislet is up.

Nope, Ricky lived across the street. We tried to run a lemonade stand together, but ended up fighting. Still we were friends.

It has got to be "Beth". If that IS her real name.

Well, Sean was my best friend in 5th-8th grade and in retrospect, my first crush. I met up with him recently and discovered that although I considered him my best friend, he just considered me a friend.

Greg, I hung around in High School with.

Laurie was one of my friends when I was little

As was Beth. Beth was my first best friend. Plus she made me throw a rock at a car.

Richard was my friend from like middle school on. There really weren't any kids my age right around my house, but I'd head over to Richard's street and play with him, his brothers, and the other kids in that neighborhood.

Julie lived across the street. And when I was real young (before starting school and for the first couple of grades) it was me, Julie, Laurie, & Beth. I know it bothered my dad that I was playing with girls and not boys.

One of my geekiest hobbies is to research the Number One hits (from Billboard Magazine) on the birthdays of people I know. Someone actually came up with a theory once that whatever song is Number One for the week you were born has some influence on your life. While I've never found any personal "proof" of this theory, it's fun to speculate.

Each of the following songs was Number One on the birthdate of a member of my writing critique group, except one. Which one?

8/31/40 - "'I'll Never Smile Again" by Tommy Dorsey
1/24/43 - "There Are Such Things" by Tommy Dorsey
12/2/46 - "Rumors Are Flying" by Frankie Carle
4/3/47 - "Heartaches" by Ted Weems
1/3/61 - "Wonderland by Night" by Bert Kaempfert
4/16/62 - "Good Luck Charm" by Elvis Presley
9/25/63 - "Blue Velvet" by Bobby Vinton
4/10/67 - "Something else else Stupid" by Nancy Sinatra and Frank Sinatra
10/18/71 - "Maggie May"/"Reason to Believe" by Rod Stewart
4/9/72 - "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack
12/8/81 - "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John

4/3/47 - "Heartaches" by Ted Weems

Exnihil: Novelty, if he had a power, the obvious one to me would of course be "The Power of Grayskull"

"Heartaches" was Number One on the birthday of Denny, who writes high fantasy. I will be sharing a table with him at a convention later today.

"Blue Velvet" was Number One on my own birthday! So that answer, too, is incorrect.

"Good Luck Charm" was Number One on the birthday of Ken, who writes thrillers and really good ones.

"There Are Such Things" was Number One on the birthday of A.T., who writes gay romance.

Both of those are incorrect.

"The First Time . . ." was Number One on the birthday of Cybelle, who writes horror. However, she leads another critiquing group and is not part of mine.

Take it away, Virie.
