There was a scene in the tryouts issue that introduced Sizzle and Turtle where Sun Boy comes back, and exactly four Legionnaires (Phantom Girl, Lightning Lass, Colossal Boy and Star Boy) get up and greet him, and in that scene, I kind of loved them all for being the friendly welcoming ones, in a team that had been previously stacked with raging jerks.

Seems like he took the place of Pocket Universe Superboy, who had the pre-Crisis Earth-One Superman power levels. Which explains reality punches. As much as they can be explained.
