Have you red any yet?

I read Saga but not Fatale and Young Avengers yet.

I liked Saga, and the ending had a great moment. shocker.

What I bought:

Walking Dead 115
Chew 37
Sidekick 3
Astro City 5
Star Wars 10
Coffin Hill 1

I didn't buy a whole lot but was intrigued enough by several new series debuts that I set aside several of them in my pull bag to think about and watch for reviews:

Cryptozoic Man
Shaolin Cowboy
Rocket Girl
Three

One that I looked through and didn't put aside was Death Sentence.

Sadly, they were sold out of Afterlife with Archie, which I would definitely have gotten. frown

The one book I left the store with because I was so impressed by the art and what looked to be an interesting premise was Vertigo's Coffin Hill. We'll see how well I did on that choice soon enough....

So if any of you bought/read any of these, I'd sure appreciate a few words about them! nod

I checked out Rocket Girl ... I put it back though and thought I'd wait for some reviews and the TPB. I thought the issue seemed an introduction to the character rather than a start of a story. I thought the art was good but I wish it was a slight bit better.

I plan on getting Coffin Hill, Three and Rocket Girl and will post reviews!

Rocket Girl is drawn my girl Amy Reeder who blew my mind on Madame Xanadu, so I can't wait.

I haven't been to the CBS in like 5 weeks. The pile will be massive.

BTW, Lardy are you enjoying Red Team? I like it well enough but I'm still waiting for that big moment that will really make it click for me.

I got my Kickstarter copy of Rocket Girl yesterday, really beautiful! The unknown to me was Brandon Montclare's writing, but I really liked the story premise and his character voices... he and Amy have a great synergy between them. I got some of that from their (weekly?) podcasts, but the first issue put it all on display.

I have so much love for Amy Reeder! Her layouts, perspectives, storytelling, character designs and expressions(!)... and now even her colors and lettering. I'm definitely with Rocket Girl for the long haul!

Wait, what? Yes, her art in Xanadu was fantastic. I'll give it another shot then.

It reads good in a trade ... I read Chew in trades but have a really really hard time waiting for the trades especially when I see that a beloved character may be back!

FF 014. it has been 14 issues and we are still on the first story arc. Still looks lovely.

The same can not be said for

Bedlam 10 because while Frazier Irving's name is on the cover ... somebody else draws it. frown story is still good tho. very interesting actually.

Saga chapter sixteen.

Sh_#S about to get real next issue ... but I think everyone will end up talking, each and every one of these characters are too good to kill .. except those pesky reporters. A very interesting issue, not sure if what is revealed is true or not but things just got kicked up a notch.

In the era of "something's about to happen" comics, (which in other comics it usually never does) the ride up the roller coaster of Saga is totally worthwhile.

Hawkeye. 014. ALL KATE BISHOP ISSUE. pretty cool but I think I like her being the best bud of the train wreck Hawkeye Prime, I like their dynamic. and btw I thought she was rich???

Make that the ONLY story arc. It's cancelled after two more issues, then it's being relaunched by James Robinson and Leonard Kirk.

They're doing the same thing soon with Young Avengers... relaunching sans Gillen, McElvie and Norton... and then, Pov collects NO Marvel... tongue

Pov, I hope you'll at least give All-New X-Factor a chance.

As for Young Avengers, I gave it several issues to engage me, more than I usually give a comic. And it never did. Gillen's a good writer, but YA was a dud in my opinion. And I wasn't a fan of Heinberg's YA, so I didn't come to it with unfair expectations.

I picked up

Young Avengers 013 ... ho hum
don't know why I'm still in I just want to finish the story.

and Marvel Boy dumps KATE? Oh hell no. He's a douche

and Inhumanity 001
Coipel's name is on the cover but he only draws about half the issue ... frown ... and now I am even more confused about the Inhumans history, did they change it randomly ... weren't they created by the Kree ... oh well ... it was a very dramatic issue, was very weird, as if written for effect or by a round robin.

I also picked up the Walking Dead trade volume 19 for a rainy day but I am a little disappointed that they are still on the Negan story arc by the end ... hmmm

a big muah muah muah this week! shrug

and by the by, aren't there this great group of Thanos relevant characters called Eternals that are basically high calorie Inhumans except with a built in relationship to Thanos, the big bad of the story, and even a rival for him in Eros!

I suspect the Inhumans are coming up for appearances in the movies ... otherwise i don't see how the Inhumans constantly get themselves into Atillan destruction and Black Bolt dying messes.

also. Medusa bugs. can she even start a sentence with something other than "you dare!"

Wild internet rumor is that the Inhumanity event is a move to phase these new Terrigan-enhanced people into the role that mutants have filled for Marvel for so many years, as part of the tie-in to movie properties (since, for the movies, they can't say the word 'mutant' and will need a different backstory for any mutant Avengers like the Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver).

IIRC, terrigen exposure used to be fatal to humans, so I suspect that's gonna change, unless part of this event is that entire cities are getting wiped off the map so that the tiny percentage of their populations that have long-dormant Inhuman DNA can get empowered...

well it was confusing ... but they did mention that the mists were fatal to humans

but nobody was dying and they made up that many inhumans had been interbred with humans over time and those were the ones being turned ... with the expansion of the mists. they also said without the focused mists it was unstable ... and poor gorgon's son got turned too early and didn't come out right.

idk

Daredevil 1.50 "50 years special"
East of West 10 and 11
Uncanny X-Men 020
Manhattan Projects 19 and 20
Ms Marvel 002 003
Batman Superman 9
Mighty Avengers 9
Uncanny Avengers 019
Black Widow 004 005

Most were pretty ok, I think I missed She Hulk at the store ...

Ms Marvel is still ok but seems to be slowing down.

Batman Superman is really about the art for me.

Black Widow is good but I missed 003 and really feel like I missed a lot.

Uncanny XMen and Avengers were so so. slow and pretty.

These weren't the best issues of MP or East of West but I think both are gearing up for something exciting.

I'm going to get the first Black Widow trade when it's released in the summer.

I have to admit I'm surprised you're still buying Uncanny Avengers. confused

I am surprised as well.

I love Acuna's work, even though this isn't his greatest ... I read it was supposed to be the conclusion a couple issues ago. still not concluded.

so I'm in for one or two more.

I hope you like Black Widow, it is exciting and tense, and very well drawn. Not sure where it is going yet though but the trades may be the way to do it.

I have a suspicion that Rick Remender is too stoned to realize he hasn't finished his story yet.
