They changed his name from Paco to Cisco because PACO was silly.

w t f.

On a related note, I saw the Human Bomb comic at the store ... and thought "oh cool!" and then I said "nevermind it's DC. They'll f it up."

I didn't even flip through it.

That was pretty much my reaction to the Human Bomb as well!

Ray was alright and Phantom Lady had it's moments...but I dunno, something about the Freedom Fighters doesn't seem to grab me in general, so no Human Bomb for me either.

That said, it's funny that no one on Bleeding Cool or something has picked up on the New 52's take on Uncle Sam...

I much preferred the last incarnation of the FF - especially Human Bomb and Black Condor. I haven't picked up the new version because those series didn't interest me.

What's the deal with the New 52 Uncle Sam?? Where did he pop up?

What would really interest me is an "Earth-X" or "Earth-10" series, ala "Earth-2".

Guys, during Morrison's tenure on JLA there was a speedster character named Glimmer who appeared in issues #40 and #41. Does anyone have any decent scans of him? Please and thank you?

Did anyone pick up the start of the Throne of Atlantis story in JL #15 and Aquaman #15? It's funny, in an interview Johns said that when he was starting his run on JL with Jim Lee, before the New 52 started, they were starting off in this kind of direction and DAMN does it show. I've liked the book well enough to this point, but it's really starting to get better and better with each issue, IMO.

I picked it up, but only because Joe Prado's on inks. Since Joe left Aquaman to work on Justice League I dropped Aquaman. He was the only reason I was buying Aquaman anyway.

I don't have much to say about this Throne of Atlantis thing except I may have been wrong about my fears regarding Tempest and Johns. But on this whole Wonder Woman/Superman thing. If they can be written as a couple with equal ground, fine, but if it's all just Diana excepting Clark's lifestyle and none of the reverse with Diana acting as some kind of sidekick, no sale.

I can see what you mean with the SM/WW thing--frankly, I'm still just jazzed that they didn't start out immediately in LURRVE like I feared when the announcement first hit, and that they're taking their time with the dates to create that connection for a good relationship.

I wouldn't say that she's become his sidekick, but I do agree that I hope that as this goes further, we'll start to see more what she brings for him in this relationship.

I mean sidekick in that it's all about her accepting Clark's lifestyle and the minute she tries to do the same he refuses. If, like, all we see of the relationship is her taking a secondary role.

Wait, when did he refuse something that she suggested? I'll agree that so far it's been Clark showing Diana his side of things--Smallville, a secret identity, that kinda thing--but the thing is we haven't seen that sort of thing yet.

Though, to be fair, I can't think of a whole lot she can show right now. I mean, her home island's kind-of a wreck--her sisters are snakes and her mom's a clay statue--and I'm sure that Azzarello wouldn't like Johns touching her supporting cast right now. Johns did hint at Diana being friends with a Native American woman, though...

Ugh. I hate when I'm not clear.

I forgot to add "if" it's all about her accepting Clark's lifestyle and the minute she tries to introduce him to her lifestyle and he refuses. If, like, all we see of the relationship is her taking a secondary role.

Sorry Jay.

I picked up the latest issue in the store today, and thumbed through it. Then I got to the satellite bit and Superman called Billy, "Shazam".

I immediately closed the book and put it safely back on the shelf.

Accidentally swallowed a glass of poison. Knowing I had to get it out immediately, I glanced through a Geoff Johns scripted Justice League story. Instant vomit and my life was saved. Thanks DC.

If Joe Prado doesn't work on it, I don't buy it.

And I'm legitimately concerned with how Jessica Cruz might be handled. I was so excited last year when they announced her, but more and more I've lost enthusiasm as further details were given.

WHY is it so hard for us to just have an Earth Green Lantern who is also a woman?

"Beasts"

I wore the pages out of 221 and 222.

The covers alone ...

Very perceptive of Shayera! And awesome endgame by Zatanna!

I vaguely remember this issue now. It certainly did sound like a good one.

I am going to have to dig out my Satellite Era issues soon.

I didn't realize what a great balls to the wall run the last year of the satellite era had ... Black Canary's origin with the Thunderbolt, Beasts, Fiat Lux, Martian War ... some of it turned out wonky but it was action and story packed and was brave story telling. and was low of the big 5/7.

Re-posted from the JLA Idol thread -

Beasts was a good story but WOW was it gory for a pre-Crisis JLA tale! As a kid, I remember being super-disturbed by what happened to Hawkman and those poor archaeology students. And don't Aquaman and Elongated Man suffer equally grisly fates? Along with a few of the others? I wouldn't be surprised if that was Geoff Johns' favourite comic growing up.

The Fiatlux Trilogy was another fairly gruesome tale IIRC. It had some great character moments though and will always hold a special place in my heart because this part of it -

http://www.comics.org/issue/1138523/cover/4/

- was the first DC comic I ever bought (JLofA #200, which I've mentioned being the first DC comic I ever read, was a gift).

For the trivia lovers among us, that story also holds the distinction of bring the FIRST story in JLA history to not include any of the founders.

Care to spoil, Blacula? My issues are in storage but now I'm really curious as to what grisly happenings befell our beloved characters!
