i can't believe this but according to Newsarama, in a brief statement from Dan Didio:
s
p
o
i
l
e
r
s
"Not sure how things can change One Year Later when the stories are taking place thousands of years in the future, but the future is about to get more exciting in the newly titled Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes. And no, that is not a typo, wide awake now."
WHAT? Supergirl's title is surviving, so not sure what this means... is it Kara Zor-El, is it Kara Zor-L (Power Girl)?
Barry? is this all a big joke?

Guess we're going to get the Silver Age Brainy/Supergirl romance once again. No wonder Dream Girl had to die!

I don't know if I like the sound of this. I don't want Supergirl taking panel space away from the rest of the team.
Maybe it's just one storyline.

Huh.
That's....
well.....
I don't know what that is. I wonder if it has anything to do with the rumored LSH cartoon series. At some point those mentioned a silver-age character being part of the cast.

Gee, twenty years ago Supergirl wasn't viewed as a valuable enough property to survive Crisis, and this time around she's bumping the Legion aside in their own title? Well, times change I guess. I hope this is a stunt and not something permanent. Surely less than a year since the relaunch DC haven't lost conidence in the Legion to the point of shunting the book back into the Super umbrella.

I wish this news would fill me with more excitement. But I haven't enjoyed DC's newest Supergirl at all. So my hope is that this Supergirl is unrelated... some how.

Supergirl joining the Legion could have been in the planning for a very long time - maybe even from the beginning. Waid said the second year would reveal "very close ties" to the DCU. Now here it is.

Supergirl herself is getting a new writer post-IC, so who knows what she'll resemble at that point. I'm cautiously optimistic, and I was hoping for something along these lines, except maybe with Power Girl.

I don't like this. I'm waiting to see how it will be done and with what character, but for now i'm less than enthusiastic by this news. Same for the new title.
The Legion doesn't need to be in the shadow of another Super.
we will see, maybe i will like it. And if that move gives later the opportunity to see the return of XS for example (because she is somehow tied to the 21st century) or others characters, maybe it will be great.

I would rather not see LSH tied to Super-anyone, but I guess it makes some sense. I don't know what will happen at the end of IC, but having Supergirl and Power Girl both in the present does make one or the other a tad redundant and, quite frankly, Power Girl has struggled to fit in the DCU of the present for years and found her niche in JSA. Supergirl is starting again from scratch. Her own title or not , she has less of a home in the DCU than Power Girl. Of course, my preference would be Power Girl in the present, Andromeda in the future and Supergirl ? Who's she?
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

but will there be "supergirl and the legion" AND LoSH, or will we have two supergirl series one of which will be the one with the legion?

It makes my head hurt. To me it is too much at one time.
Looking for Earth Prime.

Is this the reason behind Barry's tease about "anything being possible" by issue 20?

Bah. I don't like this. I don't like this at all. Don't get me wrong... I mean, I totally dig my Supergirl Archives, but they seem to have gotten rid of everything I really liked about the original Supergirl. If the point of this is to boost sales, I really don't think it's going to work in the long-term. Call me old-fashioned, but I miss the days in which the Legion used to be used boost sales in the super-titles, not the other way around.

Here's my nightmare.
A perky blonde shows up at Legion Headquarters and says "Hi, I'm from Daxam and my name's Mon-El, but you can call me Supergirl"
Run away!

I can only be accepting of this if the Supergirl in question is named Laurel Gand.
I am *strongly* against tying the LSH and Super-books together.
Sure, right now there is a semtinment (led by the likes of Geoff Johns, Phil Jiminez and Gail Simone) to restore DC's 1970s glory (and I like that-- I'm seeing the likes of Red Tornado in JLA, Duela Dent in Titans, a Secret Society of Super-Villains, etc., etc.) and for me, all of that is truly wonderful.
This isn't.
Becaue these setiments go in cycles.
One of these days, when Geoff, Phil and Gail and their Pre-Crisis-loving peers fall out of favor-- and it does happen to everyone, we all know this (except maybe to George Perez)-- well, guess what cycle will be next to fall into place? The hardcore 80s-John Byrne, Mike Carlin and Marv Wolfman fans, and POOF.
No more wacky Titans. Instant Legion-Super severance. AGAIN.
Let Laurel don the Super-suit, that would be pretty cool. Give her that pleated skirt, it's very fetching on her.
But for the love of Fred, keep Superman's cousin (both Earth 1 and Earth 2 varieties) WHERE THEY BELONG!!!

what in Rucka's interview makes you say that the Supergirl won't be the same one?
i just don't think that DC would publish two series using the name "Supergirl" in their titles but featuring two different characters with the same name. From a marketing perspective, it just doesn't make sense.
While multiple characters with the same names (ie, Green Lanterns, Flashes, etc) might be able to operate in the same DCU, only one of each has a titled book - the rest only appear within other books.
I think it's likely that Kara Zor-El will be the Sgirl in both "Supergirl" and in "Supergirl & the Legion of Super-Heroes." I just hope that the title change is only temporary, for an arc or something. (i can dream...)
I hope that Barry and/or Waid can post here or in an interview somewhere to give us some more hints or info.

Even better, the publisher is changing its name.
DC Comics and the Other Subsidiaries of Warner Brothers.

We were hinted, that Sensor Girl will pop up in Issue 15. Could it be that the original Sensor Girl (=Supergirl) plot will be resolved (since the multiverse is about to return).

If it's between LOSH being cancelled or tying it more closley with the DCU, especially the Super family, maybe it's a small price to pay for LOSH's longevity.
I figured they would add Superboy, especially Superboy-Prime (after he was revealed). Maybe this will be a 'modified' Powergirl after I.C. is finished.
Chances are, this was planned since the re-boot.

Supergirl and Superboy were fun. I enjoyed them. I liked the Legion with them. I MUCH prefered Superboy as "inspiration" for Legion over any of the other's they have tried.
That's about where I'd want it to end. "Supergirl" and the Legion of Super Heroes, would be an abomination, not even a funny joke for an issue, but sometimes Waid just doesn't have good measure for when a joke goes over the top, so, I wouldn't doubt this.
