Some people open theirs early the night of, and some are already celebrating Hanukah (or maybe Chrismukah or Festivus?) and I don't know when Kwanzaa starts, but what'd y'all get for the holidays? I expect to get some article of clothing and something I'll probably use once or twice. We'll see...

Feel free to brag if ya got some good shwag!

Last weekend, I got the news that I'm going to be an "Uncle"! My best friend and his wife are expecting sometime in August. To say I'm totally psyched for them is an understatement. I was best man at their Wedding, and they've dropped hints of me doing a Brando imitation now ... laugh

Tally today: $Money$ cool , pants and Champion sweatshirts (!), more dragons for my pewter collection, and a box of limited edition Looney Toons Swiss Miss hot chocolate... with Marvin the Martian marshmallows! lol

Alright Pov! Good news and good gifts. Sounds like you had a good day so far. You'll have to tell me if there is a Wile in that Looney Toons and maybe I'll have to look for one.

We just got home with Caroline's Dad so haven't done the presents yet. I did get to open one this morning. A HP 3.3 megapixel digital camera with a printer specifically for 4x6 photos. I'll share later what else was left under the tree.

Hope everyone has been having a good day so far.

If Caroline lets me share. I just tested the printer that came with it and it didn't do to shabby a job. I'll need a higher quality paper than the free stuff that came with it for Caroline's scrapbooking though.

Maybe I'll even show Caroline how to use the camera and I'll share a pic of myself. As long as it doesn't make you all run screaming.

I got three frames to assemble, with all the accoutrements for holding three comics of my choice.

Naturally, I went through the duplicates I have in my Legion collection. Now, hanging behind me are framed copies of Legion Lost #8, Tales of the Legion of Super-Heroes #325, and Legion of Super Heroes #268 (I couldn't resist). Check off one more interior-decorating task that I had on my list.

I got a DVD player, a VHS player, a Red Dwarf I DVD (I'm just off three hours + toilet/food breaks watching the whole series with the cast commentary on), couple of Bond DVDs (Goldeneye & Die another Day), Buffy Watcher's Guide v1 & 2, a History of Comic Art book, a Hulk: Incredible Guide book, a watch & a few other things.

I think people have me pegged as a comic/sci-fi geek for some reason smile

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lets see...

* I got clothes, and I liked them all. They were all solid and neutral colors (what do you expect from an engineer with a wife that likes to shop?)

* I got alot of sweets.

* My wife also got me some action figures to use for customizing.

* The inlaws got me some Trade Paper Backs that I had been putting off getting (Ultimate X-Men 6 & Clone Wars #2) and some DVDs (Roxanne & Ferris Bueller).

* My wife got me the HC Archive #4 of The Legion.

* We also got a Gamecube with Wind Waker & Double Dash.

* My wife also got me a Norman Rockwell Print that I had been wanting of the WWII GI Homecoming and a book on the living Congressional Medal of Honor winners.

* And the best gift of all was to wake up next to my wife.

All in all I'm fairly happy with my "take".

Dido's LIFE FOR RENT, Nelly Furtado's FOLKLORE, a big DICKIES hooded sweatshirt, a TN TITANS hooded sweatshirt (I'll like to pretend I'm a member of the Teen Titans in it), SIMPSONS Season 3 DVD set, JOOP! cologne, socks & undies, rain repellant for my windshield (that stuff is SO much fun! Never use wipers again!), hair care products, a Lucinda Williams ESSENCE concert t-shirt (scored by my Mom off eBay), McDonald's gift certificates and hard, cold CASH baby!

Two pullover cardigan sweaters, several "hip" shirts, some sweats.

And, to top it off really well...a one-year subscription to Wooden Boat Magazine. Does my baby know me or what? A really cool pez dispensor, some great cigars from my motherinlaw, and the person that introduced my wife and i to each other gave us an obje' De Art try of miniture cocktail glasses.

And my mother knows me as well since she gave me poker chips, lol. much needed since my old set wore out. All in all, i had a pretty cool christmas. And that doesn't even include my wife's real gift to me.

wink

Hey Mllash, do you have that new album by Seal. I think its the one with the song "I have been waiting for you" on it. I wanna buy it if you know what it is. Thanks. Or anyone else for that matter.

Besides the afore mentioned digital camera with photo printer I got a new HP Photosmart 7760 printer for my PC. It has a LCD viewer so you can just pop in the memory card from your camera, pick the pics you want and print, all without having to use the computer. It also has an extra tray that holds just 4x6 photo paper. I think Caroline is hinting she needs more photos for her scrapbooking.

Also got a mini RC car with an X2 extra body and X2 tool kit. Gonna have that to race around my office at work.

I got a mini-dishwasher (it sits on the countertop), a paper shredder, several stuffed bears of various sizes, cash and gift certificates, among other things smile

"Halloween: 25th Anniversary Edition"

"Alias: Season One"

"Smallville: Season One"

Did you see any of those in the theatre, Matt? If not, I recommend X2. As much as I hate what's been done with the core X-books since X1, the second movie rocks!

I'm agreeing with Pov all the way on this one. X2 is the one to watch first. I'd actually save the Hulk for last.

And sorry, Scott, no Wile E. marshmallows frown . They've got Bugs(white), Tweety(yellow), Daffy(orange) and Marvin(green). I'm almost positive Marv was picked solely out of consideration for color... there are much more popular LT's. I'm actually surprised they didn't go with purple Roadrunner marshmallows!

out of the [ film ] DVDs that i got, the only one i hadn't seen before was the "HULK" !!!

i saw "X2" 3 times this year !!! and i'd have to say it was my favourite film of the year !!!

i've also seen all of the first season of "SMALLVILLE" but i didn't watch "ALIAS" when that was on, so i'm really looking forward to watching them ....

all the DVDs have loads of extra features, so they are gonna take some time to get through !!!

thanks for the advice btw !!!

Matthew.

The only problem with getting a present like this (for me, at least) is the fact that I'd never want to use it up (or possibly even open it)! smile

Had it had Wile marshmellows I wouldn't have opened it myself. But it still sounds like something nice to have at work on cold mornings.

I still have several of the Kraft Mac & Cheese packages they put out for Marvin's 50th anniversary a couple years ago. I've been meaning to open them up and dump out most of the pasta to avoid potential flour beetle infestation, but haven't done so yet...

I -did- open the hot chocolate, though. the cocoa packs have the featured characters on them, along with games. I've got one inner pack with Marvin n it, and the game is a connect-the-dot of K-9! Unless I can find some way to open without damaging it, that one's staying sealed. The rest are being used. smile I'll reseal the original box for display. laugh

I got my Evanescence CD, and the Gamecube I was hoping for. Plus the Battle of the Planets DVD box set, and a Grundig emergency raidio. smile And a few other things that I'm forgetting at the moment.
