I guess Engine Joe falls somewhere in late 1999-early 2000, decades after the Golden Age LMB (didn't Faraway have an official name for them...?) and the LMB Experience were long-gone. I loved reading this thread it has brought back so many memories. Cobie I would love to see a written "history" of the LMB As for the Golden Age LMB i called them the Justice Society of Message Board Posters, kinda obvious I know, but i like these sort of nods to the comics. I think it was shortened to the JSM.

There already was a JSMBP? Dammit, I've just brought them back in the Return of Dev Em story but I didn't realise they already existed. Anyone know who their members were?

Bevis I just bumped the story up over in the fan fic section. Its called the end of innocence.
Although there are not exact duplicates the main characters were Lard Knight The Loser The Lash, Beagle Twins, The Conciliator (A Shadowplay type) The Flying Squirrel and Squirrelly the Boy Rodent Scrapper man with his nine year old companion Slugger. My own precharacter was the Green Miasma
This was written to take into account the event of the LMB experience when Squirrelly was revealed to be...Well read that story to find out.
The characters are all there feel free to use them.

Thanks Far! Good to see you, hope everything is going well! The way things are going, I figure we'll use this thread to iron out the continuity of the LMB, and then I want to get started in writing a written LMBP history (probably by year)! I may have to make a coherent timeline first, which should also be a lot of fun. Right now, we'll move into Year Three (then four and five, the current year), which I'll probably get to on Sunday when I have time to get into it .

So, according to LMB continuity, Year Three saw three sets of leaders: Seahorse (BBC) and Beagz Iron Rat and Faraway Lad Faraway Lad and Poverty Lad This is the main time that the second LMB board ran (I still don't know what to call that one), really starting with BBC's term and pretty much ending by Faraway's (or at least during). This is a rough idea of it, and should constitute for Year Three. This era also saw many LMBers begin posting on the Phineas B. Phuddle Board, which was an absolute blast. These posts included outrageous tag team threads, LMBP maddness and outright tasteless off topic threads that eventually led Rob to delete the whole thing. When Lash and I tried to start it back up, we were both banned and the board was shut down completely . This era is another really fun LMB time, with lots of tag team threads and goofiness. Personnally, I didn't return to the LMB until midway through Stu's term as leader, and joined right in the maddness. Although I remember a good amount of the continuity before I returned, I'm not completely sure of it all, so post about it already!!! This time in the LMBP marked a some interesting stories, including the introduction of Homecoming Queen to the LMBP (Amber, I believe), and then subsequently Umber, her Earth-2 counterpart. Umber of course, always had her boys with her, thus Umber and the Boyz... I remember that for weeks I was trying to figure out who HQ was, and the rest of the LMBP was torturing me about it. I was sure it was Lash at first, and should have stuck with it, but for some reason I became convinced it was BBC. BBC of course, mercilessly tortured me with clues that made it seem like it was him. Finally, after thinking it was even Pov (which is why he makes fun of me and talks about me in a cheerleader's outfit ), I finally came to my senses and figured out it was Lash!

Another hysterical plot that was running on the Phineas Board was that all the LMBP women began getting pregnant! It started with Crujeckie (I think) and Stu having two twins (long ago retconned away), and then Space Tart, Amber, Umber and another girl or two became pregnant. Of course, Cobalt Kid found a baby on his doorstep too . It turned out all these babies (besides Crujeckie and Stu's I think) were future demons or some such nonsense sent by the Time Mouse Trapper to fight the LMBP. *This of course is where Cobalt and Spacey got back together and got married*. This period is a lot of fun, and lots of LMBers had little side stories, so we'll get to those in the next few days. By the end of Year Three, the second board came to an end, and the Phineas Board was pretty much shut down. The LMBP yahoo group became the main board even though the Super hero chat and Duplicate Man's board saw some action (though the LMBP yahoo group was pretty much the new headquarters). By my term as Leader (beginning of Year four) the yahoo group was the main board, so that'll be the cut off for year three

Cobie, now you know I have never lied to you about my alt. IDs.... (witheld the truth? maybe.)
So I need to tell you that I am not and was never HOMECOMING QUEEN (who posts here now sometimes as Amber & the Girlz).
Umber on the other hand was definitely inspired (well, swiped actually) from Amber...

Good times!
I'm really loving this thread. It's great to see longtime LMBPers Cobie, Sharklad, and Furball around, and to see Faraway again too! Hope you're doing well, Darden.

It is kinda fun isn't it Lash, don't even get started on the Homecoming Queen thing again! If it wasn't you, I'd rather never find out, I can't go through the pain again...dammit, I knew it was BBC! Pov, I miss Dedman too! One funny memory on the Phineas board was I was talking to him about the possibility of sending shrooms (the cooking kind of course) through the mail from Canada to the US when you kindly reminded us that the DC Message Boards were probably not the forum to be talking about that .

Year Three saw another period of LMBP glory, as the new board saw a mass of tag-team threads being produced. There are a ton that I've forgotten, so if you remember, post them! One in particulur was the birth of the LMBP's Fatal Five, most of whom I forget. I just remember Vaginus, the giant walking Vagina that spewed when it was tickled enough. That thread of course, ended with such a thing happening when the Emerald Dildo tickled it...
Also, a ton of stuff happened on the Phineas Board too! By Faraway's term it appeared all the LMBP women were getting pregnant, which was revealed to be a plot by the Time Mouse Trapper! Thus the child that Space Tart and Cobalt Kid had turned out to be a demon from the future or something like that. StuRat and Princess Crujectra (who were an item at the time) had twins (What were they're names again?), although they too were retconned away. I believe Homecoming Queen and Umber also became pregnant, and Amber's baby's father may have been Beagz!
The prominent members in Year Three (as best as I can remember) were:
Seahorse, who began Year Three as Leader and then remained a prominent poster throughout. By the end of year Three, however, Sea had to resign for the LMBP and had to stop posting, which was sad in that we saw a long time LMBer leave the fold. When Sea and others left, and Lardy and Shady stopped posting as much again, this really marked the end of year three to me, coinciding with the dissolution of all the boards except really for the Yahoo group, as well as an end to Faraway's term as leader.
Beagz remained a prominent LMBer, serving as Sea's deputy. The next term was Stu and Faraway's, who both were prominent during Year Three all the way through. Iron Rat dated Princess Crujectra throughout this time, as she and her brother Crusader were prominent LMBPers as well.
After Stu's term, Faraway served a term as leader with Pov as the deputy, who also was prominent throughout Year Three. Other prominent posters were Lard Lad, Dedman, Dev-Em, Greybird, Duplicate Man, Lucien Lad, Looks that Could Kill Lad, Ultra Matt, Terrence, Mart, Lash Lad, Sketch Lad (aka Dean Lee), and others that I know I've forgot.
Tsarin returned to the fold as Mystery Lad sometime during this time.
Cobalt Kid returned to the LMBP midway through Stu's term as leader and became prominent once again. About this time Shady started posting regularly again, and continued to do so until the end of Year Three. Midnight Son also made a brief return for a few weeks.
Some Alt Id's started posting, including Homecoming Queen and Umber & the Boyz, joining other LMBPers like Space Tart and Rody the Super-Rat. I believe Lard Lad continued to walk around with a big shotgun during this time, attempting to kill Rody, like he did Bucky the Super Beaver.
Kid Therod kept posting for awhile, although his posting began to decline at about the same time I joined, so that he showed up only once in awhile.
By the end of Year three, most of the forums we're gone (new board and the Phineas Board), and the other forums weren't getting much attention, so that the LMBP Yahoo group became the main place to post. A lot of LMBPers stopped posting as frequently, so that Dedman, BBSeahorse, Lardy and Shady weren't around anymore (or rarely in Lardy's case). Also, a new influx of members began showing up at this time, including the wonderful Ms. Thriftshop Debutante, Orkanabo and Omega Man. Monda Joe X had begun posting sometime earlier I think with the LMBP, but I can't remember when. With these new members, and those other members leaving, the Yahoo group being the new main board and a change in leadership, this effectively ends year three. This period also had a lot more going on and was even a bit hard to keep track of for me (there may have been other new members at this time) and I was a prominent poster! Year three ends with Faraway and Pov's term, and Year Four picks up under the leadership of a certain Cobalt Kid (three years after being the first deputy!) and Omega Man.
There is of course, a ton of stuff during Year Three that I'm leaving out. From BBC term beginning to Faraway's ending, and with two boards that saw a lot of traffic, there were a lot of tag-team threads and other utter maddness. And I know when I look at this post later, I'll remember four more people that I can't remember off the top of my head.
So, a lot of you were there for year three, what else happened?!

Does anyone else remember Lardy costantly having a big shotgun during this period? In a few days I'll be up to getting to Year Four, which includes my term as leader, Ultra Matt's long term, and then the previous term that had a bunch of leader and deputies. This'll be the time period where a lot of new LMBers joined (most of you I think), so I definately want to hear about it! Just who came first? I remember Thrifty showing up, but when did EDE, Kid Prime, Vee, Semi, Icey, Miner, FC, Arachne, ect. show up? How did Legion World come about? What happened to some other long time LMBers that haven't really been around? And most importantly of all, why is Pov using the moniker "Low-Middle Income Lad". What, does he think he's better than us poor people ?

I just remembered another major LMBP poster that I haven't already listed: Yellow Kid!!!
Yellow Kid aka Red Arthur was a major LMB poster during year three, and I feel bad that he hasn't been mentioned yet! Also, he was one of the funniest LMBers that we had, especially on the main DC Legion Board where he occasionally would make light of some of the more extreme posters there.
During year three Yellow Kid joined up, though in LMBP continuity he started out as an enemy of the LMBP with his gang, the Primary Color Gang, which included Red Arthur (his alter ego) among others. He eventually joined the LMBP. He was a major poster on the new board and the Phineas Board, and during BBC, Stu and Faraway's runs. By the end of year Three however, he was one of those posters who stopped posting as much, and then eventually stopped. For a time, he posted as Blackout Boy (or something similar), another LMBP villian, but then eventually stopped posting around the time Dedman and BBC stopped and Lardy and Shady decreased their posting time (among others).
All in all, Yellow Kid was a fun LMBPer to have around, and another good friend! Hope he's doing good and drops by some time!

After the changes that mark the transition to Year Four that I've mentioned, we can move into year four in our continuity archives! I'll post more on this probably on Sunday when I have more time. But the leaders for year four are:
Cobalt Kid and Omega Man
Ultra Matt and Greybird (Ultra Matt had a very long run if I remember, longer than the usual)
And then a 2 leader/2 deputy era with Stu and Lucien as leaders and Pov and Feekinos as Deputies! (This marks the first time an LMBer has been leader twice in Stu or a deputy twice in Pov. The first LMBer to be so leader twice is of course Cru as both Crusader and Princess Crujectra.)
I was around of course for my run, and then for the beginning of Ultra Matt's until I dissapeared for a bit while showing up a few times until two months ago on Legion World. So I'll get to the continuity I know in a bit, then I'm gonna need you guys to help me piece in the next eight months! Namely, when did Vee, Arachne, FC, Miner, Semi, Kid Prime, EDE, Icey and the rest join up, the move to Legion World, etc.

*Heh* The ladies tell me my shotgun's the biggest they've ever seen! Seriously, to my recollection, Lardy has only used his *literal* shotgun on the two beaver characters, Psychotic Beaver and Bucky. Is this subtly saying Lardy's a misogynist? Time and time again, my character has shown a considerable dark side. The shotgun-era Lardy was just one example. Another prominent tagteam adventure during the Superhero Chat phase featured an interdimensional portal through the back rooms of the Hootchie Hut that led to a world populated by evil Lardys! In my ONEVISION fanfics (set in te 5YG continuity), I followed up on the notion of Lardy going evil. The ultimate story about that, "Reign of the Dark Lard", has yet to be told. Maybe someday.... Basically, I've always thought of the "5 Years Later" continuity as being THE future of the LMB, not a possible future. I base this on the fact that the posters whose characters were featured contributed their own ideas of what happened to their characters, and any new posters can decide how to interpret their characters how they may. For certain, the Lardy I wrote about is most definitely what I consider to be his future. But that's just my opinion. And just what WAS that wonderful message board called that was our next real mb home after Legionnaires went up in smoke? Didn't Newc found that one until the server closed them all down? Well, Newc? And just WHEN the hell was Spacey killed off? Did I miss something? We gotta resurrect her ass sometime soon! P.S. And for the record, Hermaphrodite Helen (who became Girl Girl at some point to ease Lardy's sexual confusion) eventually became Pro-D's wife after he (it?) assumed Lardy's identity in classic (?) Proty/Garth Ranzz fashion.
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Always good to hear some of those things cleared up Lardy! And yes, as far as we can tell, the five years later future is still the future!
And Spacey being dead is very conveinent, but for none more so than me! Although in the latest tag-team thread "the Return of Dev-Em", there may be the possibility that she's still alive...
And Lardy has always had a dark side. Perhaps this is why certain LMBers that have maintained their inner goodness (i.e. Loser, Cobalt, Roo, etc.) have always gravitated to him, to help him maintain his good side and to be around a friend who has let go a bit...
