Because I don't like. I find you rude, offensive and down right dirty. If you continue to be allowed to post your perversions I will have to rethink my joining this site. I created this poll as a way to show you that most people don't like you. I made comments today about this and caught some heat. I logged out and have watched the boards as a visitor. I logged back in to reply to this. I will be taking a few days off and I hope you will apologize to those of us here who are here to discuss comics. Thanks Tracy Nicole Hackworth

I don't think that I will be voting in this poll. Liking everyone is not a requirement for posting here, but I believe in less confrontational ways of dealing with people I don't care for. Needless to say, creating polls for the sole purpose of making someone else feel bad is not one of those ways.

I see that nine users have voted so far. I wonder how many of them would have done so if they had known your motivations beforehand.

And don't get me wrong, Gossamer. I am in no way saying that you aren't a nice person, or that you don't have the right to be offended by anything being posted on these boards. All I am saying is that there might have been a better way to approach this.

Gossamer, generally Mission Monitor is considered a free for all. The sight is generally NOT a monitored board. Sooner or later I suppose all have their sensibilities hurt for whatever reason but historically Legion fans generally have been self-correcting.

Icefire probably would have responded politely and respectfully if approached that way. You could use the private message function. It's not too late.

I have no problems with Gossamer as long as she quits attacking me.

Gossamer, if you don't like Icefire's posts and he's not attacking you then please just try to ignore them. He and others here are just having their fun.

If you're more into talking about the comics, I suggest you spend more time in "THE LEGION" forum for Legion comics discussions or "DR GYM'LL's CULTURAL RARITIES" for non-Legion comics discussions. Maybe you'll enjoy your time here more. It'd be a shame if you left because you couldn't find a forum for the kind of discussions you want. I think there's enough room for both.

Considering I wasn't one of the 'cool kids' to be chosen, I doubt I'll be voting on this poll either.

Let me begin first off by saying that I really hope that you stick around. You seem like a nice girl for the most part, and your personality seems to fit very well with the Legionnaire whose name you have taken.

I would echo the sentiments of those who have stated that this wasn't the best method of voicing your complaint. Popularity contests probably aren't a great idea to begin with, but starting a thread with the intention of hurting a particular poster is extremely uncouth.

Personally I think for the most part it is fairly easy to avoid posters who you don't like or topics you aren't interested in. I was wondering how you'd managed to accumulate 94 posts, but having looked at your "recent posts", I found it strange how many of them are in threads that I haven't even been reading. If you're as bothered by icefire as you claim to be, then why are you bothering to respond to "Let's get icefire laid..." or "I wanna have sex..."? Just ignore those threads. Post to the ones that are primarily comics-related, if that's what you're interested in.

Having said that, I think there is a legitimate concern that you're hinting at. The flirting/innuendo has been a bit heavy lately, and it really wouldn't hurt if people toned it down. I'm not that bothered by it myself, but I can see how one might find it very annoying. As another poster mentioned to me recently, it's getting to the point where even the SPHQ isn't immune to it. This is something I think people need to be more sensitive to than they are.

Oh....what a cat fight Icefire and Gossamer! really, anyway, Hey, Gossamer, just to let you know that I am guilty also...I did for a brief time, running around NAKED in the Legion World...until I finally got tired of it. So no more running naked.

So maybe someday Icefire will finally stop his flirting and get serious on comics for a while (although I can't imagine that icefire will stop flirting... ) Anyway, so just have fun, okay? Kisses and hugs!

For the record I am also not going to take the poll. But I am going to make another comment.

I get really uncomfortable when someone is singled out as Icefire has been the last couple of days. Did someone fail to notice that the Legion itself is as diverse as this message board? They have sex lives, and they talk and joke about them - as do most people no matter what their lifestyle is.

I get so mad when someone tries to "clean up" something I enjoy just the way it is. Like all of the video stores here in Utah that remove "offensive" parts of movies until everything has a "G" rating. I don't want to live in a G-rated world. I want to live in the real world.

Even though I'm an old married lady, if I went off on some kind of sexual rant I would expect these guys to accept it and find the humor and not attack me for it. In fact, left to my own devices I probably would say a lot more outrageous things, but out of respect for my husband (Lightning Lad, Scott) I reign myself in.

I love my gay friends, men and women. I have been extremely fortunate in that when I married Scott he was open minded enough to allow me to keep these friendships. We have a once-a-month dinner date with these friends and now Scott even talks comics with one of the women. (That's a story in itself, she was a nun who came out of the closet and left the convent after 20 years as a sister.)

Gossamer, please don't leave. Life is precious and short, let's embrace the things we can enjoy about each other and overlook the things that annoy us. Everyone should be welcome and be able to thrive here.

I would agree with your first paragraph, but not your second. THAT is real world. A company has formed a niche that in no way affects you, yet you are annoyed by it. Gossamer has her point, though the REAL Legionworld.net world has said, "umm, please find another way to say it."

The world is what we agree to make it. In that vein, I would echo EDE. The flirting in the Legion Forum is getting a bit incessant for MY tastes and I wouldn't mind if it toned down.


Mission Monitor on the other hand seems nicely geared for that more personal/adult touch.

Gossamer this is a really nasty thread you've started here. If you don't like someone leave them be and do your own thing elsewhere, ther's enough room for everyone. How would you like it if someone started throwing childish comments after each of your posts.

Sonnie, Sonnie, Sonnie, Sonnie, Sonnie... (that was my Tom Hanks impression) I can understand being upset by Gossamer's attitude, but c'mon -- there's no need to escalate things this way. I don't think anyone here should feel attacked, be it Icefire or Gossamer for her reaction.

She's still relatively new here and she'll either find a way to get along in this forum now that she has a better sense of what it's about or she'll decide it's not for her. But I wouldn't like to see anyone driven away unless they were intentionally doing something to disrupt the whole boards (which I don't think she was doing).

As I and others have mentioned, maybe Gossamer just needs to stick to the areas of the forum that are more comic related, and as a few have said, maybe others here should be more mindful of the separate forums and where some of the more personal or sexual topics should go (it's not the first time this has been brought up -- Reep had the same concern about humorous threads). Or maybe be mindful to stick to private messages rather than involve the whole forum. It's all about finding a way to respect one another so that we can each find a way to enjoy ourselves here.

But... but... if they stick to private messages, they can't pad their post counts!!! :rolleyes:

It's funny, when scrolling down and reading this thread, I was thinking... "Ohmygosh, I need to reply to THIS thread," or "I need to reply to THAT thread," or "I need to reply to THIS thread..." every time I would read the next thread, soo... I'm going to reply to them all right here!

Gossamer: I actually wasn't voting in this poll before I read your comments about the "true" reason for it. All I have to reply to you is that you don't HAVE to learn to live and let live, but I think you'll find the world a much better place around you if you do. Incidentally, I was enjoying your feud with Icefire VERY much up until this point. It seemed more fun-spirited, and I liked the thought of Icefire having an arch-enemy. And I agree with EDE's comments. You DO remind me very much of Ayla, stuck-out tongue and all!

Princess: You are one of the classiest acts on these boards.

Icey: Now you know that I'm one of the old guard, along with MLLASH and TBWUP (among others,) as far as flirting on the boards goes, and you know how much I like and enjoy it. So I hope you won't get upset when I say it's gotten a bit excessive in the past couple of weeks. Another thing... it's gotten silghtly boring to me. One of the things that makes it fun for me is when MLLASH or Rokky sneaks little wordplays or puns into their posts, hinting at sex but not quite going there. THAT is intoxicating and sexy to me, not just jumping out and saying it. Anyways, I guess the thing is, there's been SO much talk of sex on the boards lately that it's just gotten boring to me, and I just tend to skip over all the flirting threads now, unlike when I used to read and participate.

EDE: About popularity contests... I think you are absolutely right. They actually do tend to isolate and be hurtful. This was something I grappled with as I toyed with the idea of the leader elections... I am THRILLED to say that Legion World is a great place and that did NOT happen. I'm so glad that it didn't turn into something cliquey and hurtful. I think we have an incredible community here.

Supes: Well said. I was the one who actually STARTED all the "naked" threads. But overdosing on anything (even flirting with all the wonderful, smart, and sexy people on LW) gets boring.

Caroline: I'm so glad that this board has given me the opportunity to get to know you as well as Scott. Your well-thought-out post was just BEAUTIFUL. I hope we are friends for a long time to come.

Sonnie: I have faith in the people who post here to figure out a way to work out their differences. Saying "grow up or fuck off" isn't fair to someone who just might not be ready to face or accept certain things in their lives. We gay boys have to be tolerant sometimes too.
