I like it closer to the classic 2:1 proportions from the days of bad undrinkable whiskey. But I'll defer to your expertise on the modern convention. I stand corrected...
As an economist once told me. Trust me. I'm always right, but at times I'll be presented with new information which leads me to change my opinion.
Cheers Semi

But I still disagree. I'm a conservative, that means cocktails should be interpreted with the original intent of the bartender that framed the recipe. We don't need a current generation of activist bartender changing things just to placate modern tastes do we?
It's a slippery slope today people ask for a drier Manhattan, tommorrow people are using a eau de toilette sprayer to put Vermouth in a martini glass and pouring gin over top of it. At that point the bar is charging a $2 premium over a double shot of gin for an olive. We need to protect the little guy who believes in traditional values.
Thank you this has been a paid advertisment of the Republican Bartenders of America. *** End Parody

In a word, no.
Most US beers are vile, though it's totally a matter of taste.
Here in Texas, we have a dark beer, Shiner Bock, which is not bad. Houston's own microbrew is St. Arnold's.
There are some other decent beers and ales around the US, Sam Adams and Fat Tire are probably the best known.

Actually, there's a shop where i live which specialises in authentic USA drinks and sweets (candy, i mean, like Hershey's, Babe Ruths, etc). I tried a rootbeer float for the very first time and i loved it! Have you heard of Barg's Root Beer?

Getting slightly off topic here...
What is a Bearclaw - cake-wise? A Yoo-Hoo, a Ding-Dong?
I know what a grape Ne-Hi is, that was Radar's favourite on MASH, and am familiar with a Hostess Twinkie...But what is a Yodel?
I want to culturally in tune with you guys...USA would be my most picked place to go - that, and maybe Disneyland...
