I'm on a mini-quest myself right now, but nothing helps a mini-quest out like a stop off at SHAKES for a drink and some company.

I've yet to try the old Orkney Skullsplitter. I'll give it a go.

I get the feeling that two or three of those and you'll be able see the phantom zone pretty clearly (if nothing else).
